Californians plagued by the extraordinary snow, rains and flooding that have recently lashed the Golden State are girding for another storm that promises to bring more foul weather Sunday evening. But the next round — which could bring several more feet of snow to the mountains, 50 mph wind gusts to the Sacramento Valley and about a half inch of rain to already-sodden Southern California — will pale in comparison to the high-powered storm that’s clobbered the West Coast over the past few days, according to ABC7 That weather system, which according to the National Weather Service was one of the strongest to ever sweep across southwest California

RE# OP. Not true. Every year NASA informs us that that there hasn't been any global warming in X number of years. And the very next day, the media will trot out some report declaring last year the hottest ever. Its also why its now Climate Change and not Global Warming. As if earths climate has EVER been static.

Should help the reservoirs to re-fill. CA should actually build more for power production rather than letting so much just go into the Pacific. It's "clean" power too except for what harm damming the river causes. They won't, of course, the state is all in on the less reliable, more expensive and harmful environmental damage of wind and solar farms.

Mendocino County: Here on the homestead (2,000 feet) we got just shy of 10 inches of snow from the first storm Thursday night/Friday morning. The last time we had snowfall of this intensity was 2001. Our average snowfalls are between 2-4 inches. Two hundred miles of Hwy 101 through our mountains were closed due to downed trees and power lines. In our local area over 200 cars were stuck overnight, including CHPs and a fire truck. We were listening over the ham radio. Most of the snow has melted; all it is off the trees and bare spots are starting to show. We are waiting for the next storm to come in, and have had a mixture of sunshine, rain and snow flurries. The weather gurus are predicting this one will be bigger, with up to 18 inches of snow in the higher elevations. Yesterday was prep day, and I was TK's assistant. We put the tire chains on the 96 Dodge Ram and filled the stove-wood bins in the house. We went into town, did our marketing and attended the Vigil Mass, instead of our usual Sunday 9am. TK is also an official weather spotter; during big storms he sends in hourly readings to the U.S. Weather Service in Eureka. He geeks out. It gets very exciting!

Oh, please. Battered? Hardly. We have experienced heavy rains and snow before. The latter now down to 1000 ft. Beautiful. And we needed a lot of both rain and snow pack. Intern reporters and those east of California just don’t understand. Fine.

When I was a kid in Pasadena we had a snow day due to enough snow on the ground for us to build a snowman and have a snowball fight in our front yard. And we lived on the flat, not on the foothills.

Any time you see the fake news saying "one of the" whatever, insert "just another". Like, just another strong storm. None of these storms have been exceptional. If you want a bad snowstorm, '76. Worst recent rain, '82. Winds? Common to have 80mph gusts in local spots. Lightning? Right before all of the major fires in history. Us old timers are not impressed.

A Gillibrand primary in ‘24 could help
GOP reclaim seat

The left is looking to oust Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in next year’s Democratic primary — which gives Republicans a chance to take the seat if they can nominate a heavy-hitter for the general. The Post reported weeks ago on progressives’ ambitions for the seat, and now the left-leaning Daily Beast confirms the “emerging sense among New York insiders” that she’s “vulnerable enough.” Ironically, she’s so vulnerable to the left for the same reason she’s failed to face a major GOP challenge in the past: She’s had so little impact that most voters barely know who she is.

A Harlem fishmonger left battered during a fatal melee over shrimp at a Manhattan fish market, said the ugly episode could have been avoided. “I saw what he was doing. He was stealing. If he wasn’t stealing, nothing would have happened,” injured worker Francisco Morales told The Post of the man accused of trying to rob the store. Morales, 38, was hurt during Tuesday’s chaos at the Fish Express Fish Mart, when Robert “Bobby” Burrell, and his brother, Malik, allegedly entered the store to steal shrimp and began assaulting him. Another worker, Junior Hernandez, intervened and ultimately stabbed the Burrell brothers, killing the 25-year-old Malik, authorities said.

Liberals are fond of saying they are for welcoming illegal aliens and for sanctuary cities. But when those illegal aliens are sent to sanctuary cities like New York or liberal holiday bastions like Martha’s Vineyard, then suddenly you get meltdowns and accusations that shipping people there is “human trafficking.” That’s what liberals accused Florida Gov. The US military shot down the Chinese spy balloon that floated through U.S. airspace on Saturday, as Americans learned President Biden and his administration had known about the incursion for a week — but kept it secret, fearing it would derail Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s planned meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. A pair of American fighter jets circled the surveillance craft as it neared the coast of South Carolina, then pierced it with a missile once it was safely over the Atlantic Ocean, video showed.

Her public comments during this timeframe have largely remained on script, ranging from global warming, Venn diagrams, electricity, school buses, and the southern border invasion.

Moving at the legal equivalent of lightning speed, Smith is gathering evidence against the former president on two fronts: his taking a cache of classified documents to his Mar-a-Lago resort and Trump’s role

For two years, the Democrats have insisted that, on Jan. 6, 2021, the republic was shaken to its foundations by an “insurrection” mounted by wild-eyed MAGA extremists. They attempted to reinforce this claim with a series of hyper-partisan hearings, complete with video edited for dramatic effect by a professional television producer. This left most of the footage captured by Capitol surveillance cameras on the cutting room floor, and the Democrats refused to release any of the unused video to the public. Thus, after the midterms, Kevin McCarthy pledged to make it public if elected speaker of the House. He kept his word, and the Democrats are clearly alarmed.

We should await some facts or other kinds of confirmation before drawing conclusions about nefarious political calculations, but it is confirmed that his wife and children have fled the country to “avoid media attention.” I don’t know much about treating what appears to be severe depression (a month in the hospital?), but common sense would suggest the presence of wife and family is instrumental for treatment and recovery. No wonder there are rumors spreading.
