Californians plagued by the extraordinary snow, rains and flooding that have recently lashed the Golden State are girding for another storm that promises to bring more foul weather Sunday evening. But the next round — which could bring several more feet of snow to the mountains, 50 mph wind gusts to the Sacramento Valley and about a half inch of rain to already-sodden Southern California — will pale in comparison to the high-powered storm that’s clobbered the West Coast over the past few days, according to ABC7 That weather system, which according to the National Weather Service was one of the strongest to ever sweep across southwest California

RE# OP. Not true. Every year NASA informs us that that there hasn't been any global warming in X number of years. And the very next day, the media will trot out some report declaring last year the hottest ever. Its also why its now Climate Change and not Global Warming. As if earths climate has EVER been static.

Should help the reservoirs to re-fill. CA should actually build more for power production rather than letting so much just go into the Pacific. It's "clean" power too except for what harm damming the river causes. They won't, of course, the state is all in on the less reliable, more expensive and harmful environmental damage of wind and solar farms.

Mendocino County: Here on the homestead (2,000 feet) we got just shy of 10 inches of snow from the first storm Thursday night/Friday morning. The last time we had snowfall of this intensity was 2001. Our average snowfalls are between 2-4 inches. Two hundred miles of Hwy 101 through our mountains were closed due to downed trees and power lines. In our local area over 200 cars were stuck overnight, including CHPs and a fire truck. We were listening over the ham radio. Most of the snow has melted; all it is off the trees and bare spots are starting to show.
We are waiting for the next storm to come in, and have had a mixture of sunshine, rain and snow flurries. The weather gurus are predicting this one will be bigger, with up to 18 inches of snow in the higher elevations. Yesterday was prep day, and I was TK's assistant. We put the tire chains on the 96 Dodge Ram and filled the stove-wood bins in the house. We went into town, did our marketing and attended the Vigil Mass, instead of our usual Sunday 9am. TK is also an official weather spotter; during big storms he sends in hourly readings to the U.S. Weather Service in Eureka. He geeks out. It gets very exciting!

Oh, please. Battered? Hardly. We have experienced heavy rains and snow before. The latter now down to 1000 ft. Beautiful. And we needed a lot of both rain and snow pack. Intern reporters and those east of California just don’t understand. Fine.

When I was a kid in Pasadena we had a snow day due to enough snow on the ground for us to build a snowman and have a snowball fight in our front yard. And we lived on the flat, not on the foothills.

Any time you see the fake news saying "one of the" whatever, insert "just another".
Like, just another strong storm. None of these storms have been exceptional. If you want a bad snowstorm, '76. Worst recent rain, '82. Winds? Common to have 80mph gusts in local spots. Lightning? Right before all of the major fires in history.
Us old timers are not impressed.

"Battered California"? Right. Gov. Brylcreem and California Assembly do more battering than any snow, rain or historic storm could do.

Never underestimate California's ability to F things up! Most of that water will be wasted to the ocean. And we could have Noah's Flood Part 2, and the leftists that govern this wretched State will still classify us in drought conditions

The person I feel most sorry for - - is Seth Borenstein - - the chief Gullible Warming hysteria writer at the AssPress. Seth probably has an entire file cabinet - - full of "Hottest Year EVER!" stories - - which simply can't be published. It ain't easy being a gullible warmist nowadays.
