The new MLS season is off to a bright start with attendances through the roof on opening day, with some stadiums experiencing a better turnout than several NFL venues on average.
On Saturday, Charlotte FC had 69,345 fans at its home opener in a 1-0 loss against the New England Revolution, while Atlanta United's dramatic 2-1 win against the San Jose Earthquakes wasn't far behind with 67,538 supporters watching from the stands of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
That's close to the NFL's per game attendance of 69,442 last year and it's the first time that MLS has had multiple 65,000+ games on the same day,

I love watching soccer.
It helps me to sleep better than a glass of warm milk.

Part of the "fundamental change" to the greatest nation on earth - replacing American football with European football. Let millions of Latin American illegals into the country - they gotta do something for entertainment.

If I have to watch soccer, I enjoy watching the professional teams in Europe or South America. Those guys are good! But it still is like watching paint dry. Good luck MLS!

If you wanted to round up a whole lot of illegal aliens, just impound the stadium during an MLS game

Socker is baseball without bats/gloves. Kick the ball, chase the ball then get hammered by the other team...it's about as boring as watching a scoreless baseball game. Make the goal 10' wider then we can have some 45-29 games!

For me personally, I find soccer to be about as boring as any sport out there. I don't mean to sound like a snob, but I always thought that soccer was something you played if you were too poor to play a real sport. All you need is an old ball and a grassy field somewhere.
But that is just me. If someone loves soccer and wants to spend the money, have fun. I can pretty much guarantee that you will never see me sitting in the stands next to you (for soccer or any other professional sport -- they are all just way too woke for me these days)!!!

Frankly, (tin foil hat time) I think soccer is why we have so many Gen-Z idiots running around. They didn't play good old American games, Baseball, basketball and football, those games are hand, eye co-ordination, plus those games keep score and you don't get a trophy for 'participation.' Soccer is hand foot co-ordination, they didn't keep score and everyone, winners and losers got trophies. Someone should do a study about the difference between eye-foot and eye-hand co-ordination to see if the brain develops differently. And think about it, Europeans were slaves/serfs/subjects for a couple of thousand years, they don't know what real freedom is like we do here in the United States. (Take a deep breathe Maggie, it's too early in the week to start ranting.)

Considering the cost of attending an NFL game as opposed to an MLS game, it's no wonder the crowds are getting larger. The NFL has priced itself out of the ability for many people who can afford to attend. Most young couples have kids that play soccer who can understand the action while still being able to take the whole family without breaking the bank. Plus, many young fathers played youth soccer and want to take their kids to a game without the antics and cussing that occurs in too many stadiums during football games.

Kind of like #1, the white-noise aspect of the game can be great for nap-time; except for the way it jars me out of the nap any time a team scores, when the crowd excitement level goes from 1 to 10000000 quite suddenly. (I guess ya gotta scream with all your might when you might get only one chance to scream all game... Yawn.)

Agree, #1, but soccer is much like golf, slow, unexciting and almost pointless to watch but playing either ones has a bunch of benefits, I played soccer until I was around fifty and have never been in better shape, even compared to running or weight lifting.

I truly cannot stand the game. LIterally the most nothing, boring, pointless waste of time.
People are amazingly easy to convince that two hours of nothing happening is "thrilling and interesting play".
Dumbing down the population is clearly working.

Had a good friend who came here from Poland. I used to good naturedly tease him that soccer was simply a game, not a sport.

We had a neighbor from New Zealand and one day I asked him if he played soccer and he kind of snorted and said...'soccer is for Nancy's, we play rugby.'
