Trump proposes big changes to public education,
saying it's been overtaken by 'Radical
Left maniacs'

Continuing to craft a second generation of his policies, former President Donald Trump is proposing a dramatic change in the education sphere that would empower parents to elect and fire school principals. "Our public schools have been taken over by the Radical Left maniacs," Trump said in a video announcement released late Thursday night.

Comments:

Very disappointing. No - - extremely disappointing. President Trump plans to tinker with the Department of Education - - instead of completely defunding and eliminating it. That has been the Pubbie problem for decades - - first by accepting the leftist's premises and language - - and then just nibbling around the edges. "Vote Pubbie - - because we can run the welfare state better than the demonrats." Very little makes me sicker than that. If this is what President Trump intends to offer - - we may have to start looking to someone else.

Presidents do not establish departments or their funding. The Constitution makes Congress responsible for establishing Executive Branch departments and their funding. Trump could advocate for the dissolution of the Education Department and request lower or zero funding but he cannot unilaterally do as the OP suggests.

Any change would be better than what we have now. So far I've been shown by Trump that he's a smart man and can get things done. He can make America great again. He's not perfect, tho, so we won't always agree with everything.

It seems to me that the problem originates in the teacher colleges. What are our future teachers being taught to think?

You had your chance Trump, instead you put a RINO named Betsy Wetsy in the top spot of that department. She sat on her hands for FOUR years, ignoring your agenda. So stop with the proposals, okay?

Once again he is correct. I support his plans, but this is best done at the local level. But federal pushing and incentivizing by removing funding is very good.

Vice President Kamala Harris has been eerily quiet about President Joe Biden’s classified document scandal, causing at least some Republicans to believe Harris could be angling to push Biden out of the way for a shot at the Oval Office. Though Harris has delivered several public statements since the scandal was leaked to the press on January 9, she has neither supported Biden nor condemned any wrongdoing. Her public comments during this timeframe have largely remained on script, ranging from global warming, Venn diagrams, electricity, school buses, and the southern border invasion.

Vice President Kamala Harris has apparently disappeared from leading any public events on migration — dodging one of the responsibilities bestowed upon her by the president — for over seven months, a Daily Caller analysis found. The last time Harris led an event on migration was on June 7, 2022, when she announced nearly $2 billion in additional funding to address the “root causes” of migration. She has not led a migration event since and did not accompany President Joe Biden on his first trip to the border, according to a Daily Caller analysis of White House public statements.

President Joe Biden's approval rating among independents has reached an "all-time low" in one survey just before the midterm elections. The survey, from NBC News, did provide some good news for Democrats, finding that they had caught up in enthusiasm for midterm voting with Republican respondents. However, on the president's performance, ratings were decidedly sour, especially among men at 38%, white voters at 37%, rural voters at 29%, and, lowest of all, independents at 28%.

The US is in the midst of a catastrophic fentanyl epidemic that is causing an eye-watering number of deaths and tearing the fabric of American society apart. The ultra-strong opioid being cut with virtually every street drug in the country killed a record 75,000 Americans in 2021, the equivalent of 1,500 lives lost every week.  Fentanyl - which is 100 times more potent than morphine - started off as a cheap and potent alternative to heroin and was used by only the most hardcore drug addicts in the US, who mainly injected it or smoked it through a pipe. But its cheap manufacturing costs and potency have made it the go-to cutting agent

The release of the videos from the lethal arrest of Tyre Nichols, 29, is shocking for its lack of professional tactics and procedures. This looks like adrenaline-filled rage … from the officers. At certain points, it is the suspect who sounds to be trying to de-escalate the situation. It is unfortunately not unique. In physical encounters, officers can escalate violence and lose control with lethal consequences. The footage helps establish a number of legal points. The force is clearly and undeniably excessive. It was a complete breakdown of training and supervision. It is hard to look at this tape objectively and analytically given the emotional impact of the scene. Yet
