Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice warned on Sunday that potential 2024 GOP presidential contenders who have called for the U.S. to pull back its support for Ukraine in its war with Russia should be careful with their words. During an appearance on CBS’s “Face The Nation,” moderator Margaret Brennan asked Rice about recent remarks from former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) criticizing the U.S. for its robust support for Kyiv.

The White House announced on Monday that it was giving federal agencies 30 days to remove TikTok from all government-issued devices.
Monday's move arrives as the popular Chinese-owned social media app faces increased scrutiny in Washington and in states across the country over security concerns – with critics claiming that the Chinese government could use TikTok to gain access to private user data or spread misinformation. TikTok is already not allowed on White House devices – and some other federal agencies, including the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security, also have similar restrictions in place.

You read that correctly, a senior newsman is now against objectivity. The irresistible force is mail-in ballots, nonexistent signature verification, phantom voter rolls, a feckless Republican Party, Republican governors donating tax money to a George Soros–funded entity to clean voter rolls — election commissions changing ZIP codes so mail-in ballots stack up — courts refusing to remove dead people from voter rolls unless they miss two consecutive elections, and a Republican presidential candidate who thinks he can win with ballot-harvesting.
What could go wrong in 2024?
I guess all that “culture” (human feces and heroin needles) and “excitement” (rampant crime) of life in a big city is getting a little old for Michael Moritz, a partner at Sequoia Capital. But, don’t you smug conservatives get any ideas, these blights aren’t a byproduct of Democrat ideas — San Francisco is merely “held hostage” by “political classes.”
In an essay published by The New York Times today, Moritz acknowledged the city was indeed “crippled” by “homeless encampments” and “drug addicts” before he blamed conservatives for rubbing Democrat noses in the mess. Moritz opened his piece with this:

Tens of thousands of people filled Mexico City’s vast main plaza Sunday to protest President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s electoral law changes they say threaten democracy and could mark a return to the past.
The plaza is normally thought to hold nearly 100,000 people, but many protesters who couldn’t fit in the square spilled onto nearby streets. The marchers were clad mostly in white and pink — the color of the National Electoral Institute — and shouted slogans like “Don’t Touch my Vote!” Like a similar but somewhat larger march on Nov. 13, the marchers appeared somewhat more affluent than those at the average demonstration.
We know that the left is always looking for an opportunity to silence those who challenge their groupthink. Their target isn't only conservatives, but anybody who disagrees with their worldview even in the slightest possible way.
They left lives in the hope that contrarians to their groupthink will either misspeak or express a nuanced and detailed idea that can be extracted, stripped of context, and made to appear bigoted. This gives them reason to mount a social media campaign and initiate cancelation.
Forget about the stories about the Israeli judicial reforms. Its critics are exaggerating, but now we have another exaggeration about Israel floating up to the top of the news.

My first reaction to that was to remember that line in Casablanca where Captain Renault tells Rick, “I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here,” just as a waiter comes up to the captain, and says, “Your winnings, sir.”

Former President Trump ripped into Fox News on Tuesday over its coverage of the political ascendance of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
“So interesting to watch FoxNews cover the small and unenthusiastic 139 person crowd in Staten Island for DeSantis, but stay as far away as possible from coverage of the thousands of people, many unable to get in, at the Club 47 event in West Palm Beach, Florida,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday.I call FoxNews the RINO Network, and their DOWN BIG Ratings accurately reflect the name,” Trump said, using an acronym referring to the phrase “Republican in Name Only.”

Next week is the mayoral election in Chicago, and things are actually looking up a bit in my long-ago home town.
Chicago has non-partisan elections for aldermen and mayor — which is good, because there are so many chumbolones: dim-witted Chicagoans who will vote for any Democrat, no matter how bad, like Soros-backed prosecutor Kim Foxx.

On Sunday night, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appeared on “Life, Liberty, and Levin” on Fox News, purportedly to promote his new book, The Courage to Be Free, which comes out this week. While DeSantis has not yet declared that he’s running for president, he certainly sounded like a man who’s making the case for his candidacy. Or, if not, he’s making a case for conservatism as the path to American success and prosperity— the subtitle of the book is “Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival.”

The Washington, D.C. city council made it official on Monday, illegal immigrants and other non-citizens can now vote in local elections. The Democrat-run district that serves as the nation’s capital went so far as to allow foreign diplomats to cast a vote.
That’s according to various reports that the city council passed the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act after a 30-day congressional review period ended — the GOP-led House pushed to block the D.C. law from taking effect but the Democrat-run Senate let the clock expire without taking action.
The law requires a person to be 18 and to have lived in D.C. for 30 days to be eligible to vote,
A Miami judge declined to block Florida’s 15-week abortion ban, HB 5, on Friday in a lawsuit brought by clergy members of several different faiths.
The clergy members — three rabbis, a Unitarian Universalist minister, an Episcopal Church priest, a Buddhist lama, and a United Church of Christ reverend — filed separate lawsuits against the State of Florida in August claiming that the law violates their rights to freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Those lawsuits have since been consolidated into one case.

Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has lost her bid for re-election as the race heads to runoff without her after no candidate reached the required 50% vote threshold to be elected. Lightfoot faced challenges from eight other candidates in the race, including Chicago Public Schools CEO and city budget director Paul Vallas, who held a significant double-digit lead in the polls ahead of Election Day.
Leading up to the election, Lightfoot also narrowly trailed Brandon Johnson, a member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, by two points, and was in a dead heat with Democratic Rep. Jesus "Chuy" Garcia who represents Illinois's 4th Congressional District.

Sen. John Fetterman’s (D-Penn.) staff has released an update regarding his condition. Fetterman remains hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center as he undergoes treatment for clinical depression.
It’s not a very detailed update.
“We don’t have a lot to update folks with since there’s no real news to report except that John is doing well, working with the wonderful doctors, and remains on a path to recovery,” Fetterman’s communications director Joe Calvello said in a statement. “He is visiting with staff and family daily, and his staff are keeping him updated on Senate business and news.”

Far-left Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank is openly admitting he doesn’t want all the footage from the mostly peaceful January 6 protest at the U.S. Capitol to be released to the public.
