Federal prosecutors investigating Donald Trump's storing of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate have written to the Justice Department seeking permission to compel his attorney to testify before a grand jury, according to a report.
M. Evan Corcoran spoke to the grand jury in January.
Now, according to The New York Times, the prosecutors want him to return for further questioning - and they are seeking to exempt Corcoran from the standard attorney-client privilege.
They are asking a federal judge to invoke 'the crime-fraud exception', which renders attorney-client privilege invalid, when there is reason to believe that legal advice or legal services have been used in furthering a crime.

Trump may write nasty tweets but he has to be the cleanest politician in the world. They have found absolutely nothing on him they can prosecute. Nothing. This harassment needs to stop. It's disgraceful.

If this is a valid exception, then every member of congress who uses legal advice needs to have that lawyer testify to whatever they tell members of congress. Sometimes I think they just do not understand the precedents they are setting when they cook up ways to attack a decent man named Trump.

There was no crime at Mar-a-Lago unless you are talking about what the FBI did.

Sure, right after Joe's lawyer does.
It is fortunate that Trump has the money to fight these 24/7 battles. Anyone else would have been forced to surrender due lack of funds.

The only crime at Mar-a-Lago was ordering the raid. Those conducting it were following orders.

All Trump's lawyers are under legal attack, disbarment proceedings, and intimidation. Trump is not entitled to legal representation, and certainly not attorney-client privilege.

They keep saying crimes, but they never state exactly what specific crimes they might be. Trump was president and could declassify any document he wanted to. The documents he had were held in an approved secure location inside his house. Biteme on the other hand, never had any authority to declassify anything. He had classified material scattered in a number of locations including his garage and none of these locations were secure or approved, but it's Trump that committed a crime.

Seriously, you'd think they'd at least try to disquise their simean visciousness--try, for appearance's sake to conceal the deranged, tribalistic rage that possesses them? Forget shame, couldn't they be at least a little embarrassed flaunting their fascism in our faces?
The pieces are on the chessboard and the game is obvious to anyone: isolate Trump and make competent legal representation impossible for him to obtain. Fabricate a legal complaint; anything would serve but the document charge seems their preferred course. They're hoping the weak-kneed Pence will give the pre-text, but no matter how hair-brained the complaint they present, a Washington grand jury will sign off and indict him. Pre-trial detention is not an impossibility, but regardless, another Washington jury will convict. It's what DC juries do.Trump will be out of the election, maybe even imprisoned for the rest of his life.
They can do this. Their avenue is straight and unobstructed. If it's not derailed soon the only federal entity able to intervene will be the supreme court. And they will move at their characteristicly glacial pace.

Be nice if the Republican so-called "leaders" would get behind and support the most effective President since Reagan, but, no. They are really minions of the swamp and are just as frightened of President Trump as the Democrats are.
Sent an RNC solicitation back today with a note asking why I should send money to an outfit that cannot rid itself of failed leaders. Don't expect an answer.
