Georgia State Senator Calls Clarence Thomas
‘Uncle Tom’ During Statue Vote

Original Article

A Georgia State Senator referred to Justice Clarence Thomas, the second black man to serve on the United States Supreme Court, by the racial slur “Uncle Tom” this week, presumably over his conservative leanings. The racist comment occurred on Tuesday as the Georgia State Senate voted 32-20 along party lines to create a statue on Capitol grounds dedicated to Justice Clarence Thomas, a native of the Peach State. In the leadup to the vote, Sen. Emmanuel Jones (D) likened Thomas to a slave that “sold his soul to the slave master.” “There’s a whole laundry list of positions that Justice Thomas has taken that I find offensive,” Jones said, adding:

Typical of black liberals to insult black conservatives in this manner. I’d like to see them both in a debate, with my money on Mr. Thomas. Ironically, black democrats are the literal and spiritual descendants of slaves who never did anything to displease their massas. So, who’s the so-called Uncle Tom, who died, defying Simon Legree’s order to whip another slave?

Obvious Garbage like E Jones simply cannot understand men of great intelligence and Character; their only retort is always an attack on character and never a discussion of what they consider a contentious idea!

State Sen. Emmanuel Jones (D) who only has a job because he was elected because of the color of his skin in a mostly black area. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas a black man on the Supreme Court because he's highly educated, qualified, believes in the American Constitution and the goodness of this country. Which would you vote for?

People with his mindset make it really hard for me to like and accept other people of color. And as someone of Hispanic extraction I AM a person of color. I've got to keep in check my OWN prejudices and behave and accept like the Christian I profess to be. In my walk thru life as a Latin most racial problems I've had have been with black and Latins of other Hispanic countries. I've come across many rednecks that have treated me better than some blacks or other Latinos. In fact, some of the most racist folk I've met have been other Latins who love to stratify their backgrounds and socio-economic positions merely based on their country of origin. For instance I've interacted with many Mexicans who think they're better than Guatemalans, Colombians who think they're better than Ecuadorians (and vice-versa), Argentinians who think they're 'more European' than most others in Latin America and therefore they're superior, and some Spaniards who look down their collective noses at any Latin from the New World because Spaniards are "European" and therefore white compared to any bastardized mixed-race Latin from the Americas. For the most part white America isn't as racist as you're led to believe by the media.

#10, obviously not since he clearly states it in the article. FTA: The term “Uncle Tom” refers to the character in the book Uncle Tom’s Cabin, a noble character who helped raise abolitionist sentiments during the Civil War era, but Jones admitted that he did not know the origins of “Uncle Tom,” settling only on its use as a pejorative against black Americans who oppose the Democrat Party, which ironically supported slavery and Jim Crow. “An Uncle Tom is either a fictional or a non-fictional character, I don’t know the origin of Uncle Tom, but it talks about a person who, back during the days of slavery, sold his soul to the slave masters. That is the story of an Uncle Tom.” And, as #2 states, the character died for defying an order from his master to whip another slave. I hope someday people will be able to "think for yourself, or others will think for you without thinking of you" (Henry David Thoreau)

Recently we’ve heard arguments that the failure of the military to meet its recruitment goals is a product of recruitment policy. Politics are also held to play a supporting role. But these only address the surface issues needing adjustment. The real cause is more complicated and rooted in the last thirty years of constant international strife. The 17-24-year-old populace is the focus in recruiting. This is traditionally where new military personnel are found. So what have these people been bombarded with their whole lives? Constant combat, bloody house-to-house fighting against a foe who seeks death as a reward, detailed accounts of every death, never-ending rotations through

On February 9, New Jersey Italian restaurant Nettie’s House of Spaghetti, despite having a name that makes it sound like a children’s restaurant, issued a statement across its social media accounts that beginning in early March, they would no longer allow children under 10 to dine at the restaurant. The announcement made headlines and points to the perennial debate over whether banning kids under a certain age from eating at restaurants is reasonable. This debate is, of course, not new. There will always be a steady stream of new children coming to restaurants with their parents, and some of those children will act in accordance with their developmental tendencies.
