During President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, he called for a ban on so-called “assault weapons” in the United States. This issue has been brought up by his administration multiple times since he took office.
In Biden’s remarks, he praised a 26-year-old man named Brandon Tsay who disarmed a gunman last month in a shooting in Monterey Park. Tsay was working at a dance social at Lai Lai Ballroom & Studio when he came face-to-face with the gunman, who had already killed people at another ballroom in the area.
“Two weeks ago, during Lunar New Year celebrations, he [Tsay] heard the studio’s front door close

I’m not the only one that was aghast at how poorly Joe Biden delivered what could be one of his last State of the Union addresses. It formed the foundation for his 2024 pitch, so we can expect more of the same in the coming months before we’re deep into presidential election season. The problem for Democrats is that he was barely cogent. It was evident the president couldn’t read or follow most of the State of the Union address. Some of the lines had clear mental misfires riddled into the delivery, like Joe’s quip about asking Chief Justice John Roberts for a restraining order against his wife, Jill,

When the Dobbs decision was handed down, there was much cause for celebration among those on the right. I remained skeptical. First, I believe that it is going to be impossible to legislate or litigate abortion out of existence. I think that requires a change of heart on the part of abortion proponents. And I’m not holding my breath. Second, I knew that the Left would never take no for an answer on the matter.
I was not surprised by the protests, the guerrilla warfare tactics of attacking pro-life centers, or the efforts to find workarounds to get women to states that offered abortions.

“President” Biden went off-script several times during his State of the Union address last night, prompting some of the strongest reactions from the politically mixed attendees. But one moment was particularly shocking because it was an incredible admission.
The moment of candor occurred as Biden worked through his prepared remarks on the evil oil industry. According to the official transcript, he was supposed to bash the fossil fuel producers like so: “You may have noticed that Big Oil just reported record profits. Last year, they made $200 billion in the midst of a global energy crisis. It’s outrageous.

Conservatives dragged Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday after it was discovered that he’s going to be charging a stunning $50,000 to $100,000 for speaking engagements now that he’s retired as Biden’s medical adviser and as a director at NIAID.
The first to reportedly uncover Fauci’s new gig was Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ rapid response director, Christina Pushaw who tweeted a screenshot from the website of a leading motivational speaker’s agency that lists Fauci as a “motivational” and “health care” keynote speaker with an exorbitant price tag.
Fauci is fawningly described on the site as someone whose “career warrants execution under immense pressure that can alter the course of human existence.

An Arizona rancher has been charged with first-degree murder and had his bail set at a whopping $1million for fatally shooting a Mexican citizen on his property.
George Alan Kelly, 73, was arrested following the January 30 fatal shooting of Gabriel Cuen-Butimea, 48, on his ranch in Kino Springs, just a mile and a half north of the US-Mexico border.
Authorities are still investigating the fatal shooting, with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's chief deputy saying it does not appear that Kelly knew Cuen-Butimea ahead of the shooting.
But a friend of Kelly's told KOLD he has had issues with people on his property in the past,

The gun control group Newtown Action Alliance is responding to the constitutional carry push in Florida by tweeting that “there is no such thing as ‘constitutional carry.'”
Twenty-five states have constitutional carry, and Republicans in Florida and South Carolina are now racing to see which state will be number 26, but Newtown Action Alliance says it does not really exist.
Newtown Action Alliance’s tweeted their opinion: [Tweet]
Newtown Action Alliance followed the tweet with another, asking gun controllers to urge Florida’s legislature to oppose the constitutional carry bill, suggesting the bill “will increase FL homicide and violence crime.”

U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) player Becky Sauerbrunn penned an op-ed in which she takes lawmakers in her home state of Missouri to task for proposing a law that will prohibit biological male athletes who identify as females from competing in women’s sports.
In the Springfield News-Leader on Sunday, Sauerbrunn asserts that “playing with or against transgender women and girls is not a threat to women’s sports.”
“The proposed ‘Save Women’s Sports Act’ does nothing to protect or support girls and women in sports,” Sauerbrunn wrote. “If those putting forth this legislation actually listened to the needs and concerns of women in sports,

I didn’t watch the Grammys. In fact, I haven’t watched award shows for some time. Not only do I know that the relevant bits would be highlighted in short clips on the internet later, but today’s award shows are also just boring. Where there used to be good-natured fun and actual comedic moments meant to make people laugh, we now have try-hard performances and shock value.
None of it seems real anymore, and by “real” I mean it all seems like a disingenuous attempt at pushing the envelope in order to break new ground and take the arts into a direction that’s never been seen before.

News surrounding the strange (and getting ever-stranger) Chinese spy balloon incident has been omnipresent over the past few days — to the point of nearly boxing out other news, like that of the fiery train derailment that happened near the Ohio-Pennsylvania border Friday evening. Approximately 10 cars carrying hazardous material derailed. The derailment was caused by mechanical issues, according to an NTSB member.
While the wreck continues to smolder, officials, on Sunday evening, ordered anyone within a one-mile radius of the crash to evacuate.
Officials have begged residents to leave the area for days as fears about air and water quality have mounted.

Transportation Secretary and Chasten’s wife — er, husband, Pete Buttigieg, went on NBC’s Meet the Press on Feb. 5 to preview Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. During that appearance, Buttigieg claimed that Joe Biden is just so wildly successful as president that his accomplishments cannot be easily distilled — hence Biden’s low approval ratings. Yes, Mayor Pete actually said Biden is extremely unpopular because he’s too good at his job.
Buttigieg rambled out a justification of the Biden administration allowing an apparent Chinese spy balloon to cross the U.S. before shooting it down over the ocean (where, quite conveniently, no one can pick up tell-tale debris as enlightening evidence).

Disgruntled migrants fed up with the Big Apple’s crime and grime are taking off to the Great White North — on bus rides paid for by New York taxpayers, The Post has learned.
National Guard soldiers have been helping distribute tickets at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan to migrants who want to head upstate before crossing into Canada, several migrants said.
Venezuelan native Raymond Peña and his family arrived at a gas-station bus stop in Plattsburgh, NY — about 20 miles south of the Canadian border — at 4 a.m. Sunday.
“The military gave me and my family free bus tickets,” Peña said.
