Republicans booed President Joe Biden during his State of the Union address on Tuesday night after he called on Congress to raise taxes on the wealthy and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called him a 'liar' after he blamed the nation's debt on Donald Trump. The evening started off with a smile – Speaker Kevin McCarthy made small talk with Vice President Kamala Harris, Biden started off his speech with some bad improvised jokes, and there was a standing ovation for infrastructure. But it quickly turned contentious

So Republicans want to slash/abolish social security and medicare? Frightening indeed. I am 78 years old, and over the decades I have noted that the democrats make this false claim at every opportunity, yet I continue to have my social security allowance deposited in my bank every month even when the Republicans are in the White House. The social security / medicare scare seems to be the #1 call in the democrat playbook.

I’m glad that they booed and called him out as a liar. I wish that every one of the Republicans had showed up with a white helium balloon and let them go en masse as soon as Zhou arrived at the podium. He would have had a complete melt down before the entire planet. When hubby and I were stationed in Belgium in 1981-82, we listened to the BBC on the radio and sometimes caught sessions of Parliament live. When a speech was going on, the opposing party members loudly shouted things like, “Rubbish!”, “Lies!”, and “Bollocks!”. The demonrats here need to be similarly called out at every opportunity.

When he made the lame, worn out statements about Republicans wanting to cut SS and the booing started he backtracked. Made some garbled comment about ‘Maybe they don’t’. I used to work for a major defense contractor. We referred to our company as the best machine shop in the world. We could manufacture virtually any part, to even the most exacting tolerances. The company had even received numerous “Excellence” awards from the Navy for ingenuity, customer service, and workmanship. And then in the 1990s, the company decided to try something different. Our president had a brainstorm -- which is always scary coming from someone with a Harvard MBA and little manufacturing experience. He decided that we didn’t need quality control inspectors -- those folks that check final parts to ensure compliance with the engineering specifications.
