Ron DeSantis has seized control of Disney's formerly self-governing district in Florida, announcing that Disney must repay $700 million in debt and begin paying taxes. In a dramatic escalation of his long-running battle against Disney, the Florida governor on Monday announced he was taking control of the Reedy Creek board. The five-member board oversees nearly 40 square miles of Florida, on which the Walt Disney World Resort is built. 'Florida is dissolving the Corporate Kingdom and beginning a new era of accountability and transparency,' DeSantis deputy press secretary told DailyMail.com in a statement. DeSantis will also rename the site, switching its name from Reedy Creek to the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

I love the governor. It is about time. Disney has been tax exempt and received breaks for years and made a lot of money. The Disney jobs are minimum wage jobs.

iger's gonna have to raise the price of admission to the Magic kingdom to $350 a day just to pay off that debt and all the taxes Disney is now going to owe. That will drive even more patrons to Universal and Busch Gardens.

Doesn't the patin on the usage o. f Mickey and Minnie and all of the Disney cartoon characters have to be renewed by Congress soon? That could really put a hurting on the giant rat if Congress denies it. Could not happen to a better organization. All they, Disney, really need to do is take out full page ad in all of the FL newspapers apologizing to the Citizens of FL for their interference in FL politics. Could be worth a couple of billions to the big rat. But they won't. Pride goes before the fall.

For Disney this did not have to happen. The promotion of sexual deviancy and hatred of white people to children, still in progress with a new cartoon movie just released, caught the attention of normal people and politicians. Disney will pay a high price for endorsing sexual and political slatternly behavior.

I still remember the first Disney film I watched in first grade. It was Bambi and my best friend Sandy cried when his mom got shot. It was a magical time. I also remember almost going to Disney Land with tickets that I won from the local Oakland radio station while being in the Navy at NAS Alameda. I couldn't go because I had to be deployed but my family had a ball. That's when I cared about all things Disney. Even going so far as helping my cousin get a job in the local mall's Disney Store. Do they still have those? Now since they've become a company full of woke groomers, I no longer care what happens to them. Governor DeSantis is a pit-bull and I hope that he continues to clamp down on their throat.

This is what happens when you get a good popular conservative Republican governor, who has a solid Republican majority in the state legislature, and so he can do what he says he will do. We see this played out for good in Republican states like Florida, Texas, and I assume Arkansas will quickly follow suite. Sadly, you see the ultimate power of evil in Demon-Rat controlled states with the same dynamic in Cuba-fornia and New York.

I’m not ok with this. Granted Disney has enjoyed a sweet deal with the State of Florida for many years but this looks totally like retaliation for them fighting his law against sexual indoctrination of 5 year olds. Is Disney despicable? Yes. But if a Democrat was doing this to a conservative corporation we would be outraged.

#13, democrats would do this in a heartbeat if a similar situation arose and the shoe was on the other foot. This is exactly a part of their intrinsic strategy. They are the party of petty retribution. I understand your thinking though and I have to admit normally I would agree, but have you watched Disney’s new cartoon, The Proud Family? It is straight up indoctrinating children in CRT ideology. It tells children that Abraham Lincoln was a racist and wanted to deport all slaves that were just emancipated. It is pure racist garbage. There comes a time when Disney must pay the price for their depraved and racist indoctrination. That time is now. I am so done with this evil company. I can’t even look at their merchandise and there is no way I would ever visit one of their parks and we are huge Disney World fans. No more. We have to make it hard for these woke companies to do business because they use their profits to create more attacks on decency while they lie about our history. It really is appalling. We all know Disney is capable of changing course but the company will not. They have decided to go all in with the woke culture and it is decimating this country and our children.

Has (sic) affirmative action hiring practices caused overall competence to plummet? The record appears to show exactly that. For no good reasons whatsoever, competence was allowed to die on the vine in order to give the less competent a leg up. Not equality but superiority rules the hiring, firing, and education of Americans. Worse, many of those who were affirmatively hired do not do as good a job as those whose excellence was obvious. You can see it in customer service, which for many businesses is abysmally incompetent. There is a resentful casualness in those who are hired to serve others that would not have been acceptable even two decades ago.
