New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) once again took to the airwaves to say Democratic cities who declared themselves to be a sanctuary for illegal immigrants are being stretched thin due to the large number of people crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. New York City has had to open a fifth shelter for recent arrivals from the southern border, which is in addition to using hotels and homeless shelters to house people coming from Latin America and even parts of Asia. (snip) He went on to blame Republicans for blocking "comprehensive immigration policies" that caused the massive influx of illegal crossings.

Russia today warned that Germany's decision to send dozens of modern tanks to Ukraine is 'extremely dangerous' and will 'take the conflict to a new level'.
Bringing an end to a bitter row, Chancellor Olaf Scholz finally confirmed today Berlin will send its own German-made Leopard 2 tanks to the front lines and allow Nato allies to deliver some of theirs.
Scholz even teased further deliveries of air defence systems, heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers and says Germany 'intends to expand what we have delivered', a major U-turn on the chancellor's previous reluctance.
Russia branded the move a 'blatant provocation'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today declared he wanted Western allies to send long-range missiles and jets to his war-torn country to help repel Russian troops.
'I've spoken with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg today... We must also open deliveries of long-range missiles to Ukraine, it is important - we must expand our cooperation in artillery,' Zelensky said, also adding Ukraine needed jets.
'This is a dream. And this is a task.'
Zelensky's latest plea comes just hours after the US and Germany both announced they would send battalions of M1 Abrams and Leopard 2 tanks to bolster the efforts of Ukraine's armed forces to push Vladimir Putin's troops back

Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates believes one of the solutions to combat climate change is to stop cows from burping.
Gates invested in a startup company in Australia that is exploring dietary supplements for cows in an effort to contain ‘greenhouse gas emissions.’
“Australian climate technology company Rumin8 has closed Phase 2 of its seed funding round, led by Bill Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV) with participation from Andrew and Nicola Forrest’s agri-food business Harvest Road Group,” according to the company’s news release.

On Tuesday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “Eric Bolling The Balance,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) argued that the FBI’s leadership has become a “political class” and that reforming the agency is “only going to happen if we get a president who gets rid of the top 10% and brings in some law enforcement people” who are not political actors.
Paul stated, “I think it’s swamp fever, Potomac fever. The ones closest to the swamp have become infected with influence and power and politics. I play golf with a retired FBI agent. He’s conservative. Most of the agents that I meet in the field are conservative.

Billions of dollars worth of U.S. weapons are on the negotiating table between Russian strongman Vladimir Putin and Afghanistan’s Taliban government, according to at least one insider.
Presidentish Joe Biden’s bungled bugout from Afghanistan resulted in a windfall for the new radical Islamic government, including artillery, attack helicopters, and thousands of HUMVEES, machine guns, radios — all left behind as our orderly withdrawal degenerated into a rout.
The Department of Defense estimates the total value of the gear Biden left behind at a whopping $7.12 billion, and now Putin is reportedly offering to buy whatever he and the battered Russian Army need.

A Georgia prosecutor investigating Donald Trump's efforts to overturn his defeat in the state's 2020 presidential election told a judge on Tuesday that decisions on whether to bring criminal charges are 'imminent.'
Fani Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, spoke at a hearing on whether to publicly release the final report from a special grand jury that spent months examining the Trump campaign's actions.
She urged county Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney to keep the report secret for now, warning that future defendants could argue that unsealing the document hurt their right to a fair trial,

I may have misjudged Kevin McCarthy, for I had very low expectations for his tenure as Speaker of the House. So far, he is doing a bang-up job, and is keeping his word to the Freedom Caucus members that held up his vote to take the gavel. There is plenty of time to be disappointed in the 23 months ahead of this Congress but give the man credit for a job well done. So far. If the Biden administration was looking for a deflection from the president’s classified documents scandal, they’ve now been handed one. According to CNN, multiple classified documents were found at the home of Mike Pence after he apparently had his lawyer conduct a search. (snip) Because of Pence’s stupidity, the narrative will shift to blaming the system in order to excuse Biden’s criminality. This was the lifeline the president needed.

As I said a heartfelt goodbye to my 2014 Subaru Impreza Sport 5-Door last September, there was something I wondered as I walked off the used car lot: where are all the station wagons?
As it turns out, in the year 2023, there aren’t that many station wagons on the road, period.
“The standard data provider for new vehicle sales doesn’t even break down wagons anymore,” says Kevin Roberts, director of industry insights and analytics at CarGurus. “Most of the time, they’ll probably end up classified as a crossover or a hatchback.”
Some data aggregators have “station wagon” as a trim or body variant, but you’ll be hard-pressed

Representative Adam Schiff (D., Calif.) announced Thursday that he will be launching a campaign for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s California seat in 2024.
“I look forward to campaigning hard in this race, meeting Californians where they are, and listening to what they want from their next Senator. I hope to earn their votes and their trust,” Schiff said in a statement.
Schiff was recently removed from the House Intelligence Committee by Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) in response to the former’s conduct as a lead investigator during the Trump impeachment hearings.

Parents at a Michigan school board meeting confronted a school board member for making incendiary – and racist – comments about white people in a series of tweets in December. Many demanded her resignation, but the school board member took the opportunity to double down on her remarks.
In December, Kesha Hamilton, a member of the Jackson school board, tweeted: "Whiteness is so evil. it manipulates then says, I won’t apologize for my dishonesty and trauma-inducing practices and thinks you should applaud it for being honest about its ability to manipulate and be dishonest."
