I may have misjudged Kevin McCarthy, for I had very low expectations for his tenure as Speaker of the House. So far, he is doing a bang-up job, and is keeping his word to the Freedom Caucus members that held up his vote to take the gavel. There is plenty of time to be disappointed in the 23 months ahead of this Congress but give the man credit for a job well done. So far. I, too, am happily surprised. There was no mincing of words, either. And since he has asserted how integrity matters, let's hope that this laser-beam of rectitude is aimed at the Dem leadership which will keep doing everything it can to take Leader McCarthy down, and betray this country. Meanwhile, he needs to do some thinking on two-faced politicians such as Lindsay Graham among the Repubs and the Dems.

Don't get too excited there Tom. It's early days yet and these were a given no matter who was installed as speaker. When the SHTF we will see what ol Kev is REALLY made of. Voted for all kinds of leftist garbage and wore and waved the Ukrainian flag in the well of the Congress so I'd curb my enthusiasm if I were you. He's Mitch Jr in my opinion. Prepare to bend over, smile and ask for another but harder

Saw the video of this and gave a spontaneous "bravo". A cogent argument off-the-cuff, direct and backed up with concrete incidents. British Parliament question time level public speaking. It was heartening. And how refreshing to hear a Speaker of the House not fumbling dentures and words as inane talking points and personal insults are vaguely dispensed.

Where has this Kevin McCarthy been? He gave an excellent answer and absolutely shut down the partisan hack trying to make the point that he was pulling Schiff and Swalwell off the Intel Committee for spite. If the Speaker continues as he is doing today, he just may become one of the most relevant Speakers we have had in decades. Please, Mr. Speaker do not disappoint us. We need a warrior who will not let the media push him around. Keep fighting the good fight!

what many misjudged is how someone will transition from being in the minority to controlling the majority. where you may have had to make tough compromises before you now have another option: forging a winnng majority. McCarthy is more conservative than many thought - and he has strong backing from Freedom Caucus. we will see if he is a master of tactics. pelosi ruled with similar numbers.

Kevin McCarthy's response was not only true, it was impressive and heartening. One hopes that the RINOs in Washington have seen how much President Trump was appreciated and supported for his willingness to fight back against the Swamp. Perhaps at least some of them are finally willing to take up the gauntlet when the Left throws it down, rather than running away with their tails between their legs.

I was very unhappy when McCarthy became Speaker. But, I too am delightedly surprised at his performance to date, especially with Swalwell, Schiff and Omar issue. Starting out strong with a very political issue (political because a Republican doing the same thing as Pelosi is not allowed in our country) is a very positive sign for his tenure. I'm hoping Trump's steadfast support of McCarthy was because he saw this strength in Kevin. Keep up the good work Kev and we will have your back if you keep having ours. MAGA!

Let’s cut to the chase: Did Joe Biden remove classified documents from the National Archives that would incriminate him in the influence peddling racket he and his family were running? That’s the most important question about them, and that’s probably why the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) is being stonewalled in their demand to see them. All members of the SSCI have high level security clearances and are considered able to see them. (snip) The fact that Democrats are joining Republicans in their outrage would seem to indicate that the party consensus is that Biden needs to go before he torpedoes the 2024 presidential and congressional election

The expression, “If some is good, more must be better” might apply to chocolate, vacations, and American Thinker articles, but not to everything in life. I speak of COVID vaccines, a hot topic in personal discussions and on social media. The corporate media and government, including most world health authorities follow a similar quote, attributed to May West, ““If a little is great, and a lot is better, then way too much is just about right!” Is that so? Are an endless series of mRNA “vaccines” really in the best interests of virtually all Americans for whom they are recommended?

After years of flip-flopping, the ATF has issued a rule recharacterizing guns with pistol braces, making millions of currently owned guns subject to federal "short-barrel" rifle registration, together with a $200 tax. The effect of this rule change is particularly potent in Connecticut, where existing laws banning so-called "assault rifles" are immediately triggered. Owners there of handguns with pistol braces cannot merely remove the brace if the weapon has a "forward pistol grip" or "second hand grip"; these guns are effectively rendered instantly illegal due to the fickle federal rule change.

Within 24 hours of the public learning of the existence of a second trove of classified documents stolen from the White House by Joe Biden, this time in his Delaware garage, AG Merrick Garland disposed of a hot potato by appointing Robert Hur, a DC Lawyer and former US Attorney for Maryland as special counsel. The approved narrative is already emphasizing that he was a Trump appointee but will not mention that presidents usually nominate candidates recommended by a state’s senators, in Hur’s case, liberal Democrats Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen in 2018.

The “small but statistically significant elevation” in Bell’s palsy was detected after vaccination with Pfizer’s old booster, which is no longer available in the United States, researchers with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in a preprint study. The elevated rate resulted in an adjusted incidence rate ratio of 1.13 and remained consistent when researchers adjusted for different factors, such as prior COVID-19 infection. A rate above one shows a possible connection between the vaccine and an adverse event.
