I bought a Tesla to help the environment.
Now, I'm embarrassed to drive it

Original Article

Afew years ago, I bought a used Tesla, not because I’m a car nut but because I had been a hypocrite. For years, I had been outspoken about the dangers of carbon emissions. Yet at the same time, I was driving an old gas-powered heap that got about 25 miles per gallon, and that sounded like a rocket launch every time I turned on the ignition.

This article perfectly captures the modern mental disorder known as “progressivism.” First, the writer had fallen into the fantasy known as “climate change,” a cultist belief that human activity alone is responsible for long term climate activity. Second, the writer, apparently a typical Dim devoted to “science,” shows his complete ignorance about the environmental impact of EVs, which impacts in fact are counter to his climate change fantasy. Third, the writer demonstrates complete intolerance of the political views of others, such that he would make a radical change in his life to avoid any association with such views. This article encapsulates the distorted, warped views of the modern Left, and shows why they are taking our Country down to a state of Third World banana republic sh!thole.

Follow up to #8’s comments. Exactly right, and unfortunately this shows there is no living with modern leftists, they will not tolerate us normals who mostly just want to be left alone. Theirs is a totalitarian ideology, and they have no qualms about rigging elections, government censorship, political gulags (e.g. J6) to ensure they get their way. Elections are what we used to use to resolve our differences and manage to live together. No more, so we either have oppression or resistance, either of which will lead to be violence. About our only hope for avoiding this is a national divorce or extreme federalism. But leftists don’t want to let us go, they are Mencken’s modern day puritans “ 'Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.'” And RINOs would rather change the subject to something the US Chamber of Commerce wants. So we are stuck.

I buy a vehicle that works for me, not to make a political statement or to fit in with others. I sometimes travel more than 400 miles, so charging an electric car would never work for me. I also would never want to pollute the environment with a huge used up battery one day. I also don't want to ruin the landscape with lithium mining. And I am not an idiot - I know that the electricity comes from a source that libs don't like. So I will keep driving my 2010 Genesis because it is the best car I have ever had. I will be very sad when it break down and I have to replace it with another vehicle.

Isn't it amazing how fast and broadly the dark media can trash Mr. Musk and his products? Notice how they amplify the stock price drop. This one jerk's article is about dissatisfaction with THE car of the decade (oh, but one voice is so important) but hundreds of thousands love driving because of its reliability and creativity. Haven't seen too many stories about frozen or failed Teslas with this recent storm. Musk is the new Steve Jobs, if not better. We are so lucky to have his brains and foresight while all around us are maddening, dismal non-elected and elected officials who don't comprehend the big picture.

Electric power of vehicles has been around a very long time. Demanding electric vehicles for everyone is a very bad idea for a number of reasons. Climate change via CO2 emissions is a straight up hoax. CO2 is a very small percentage component of atmosphere and is absolutely vital to all plant life. As far as greenhouse gas goes it is inconsequential. The major greenhouse gas is water vapor. If ALL the CO2 were removed from the atmosphere there would be no effect on the greenhouse effect. If all the daily drivers in the country were converted to battery powered electric the demand would cripple the electric supply in short order.

Range typically occupies an outsized chunk of the conversation on any new EV. But, in the case of the F-150 Lightning, which has the bestselling pickup's usual healthy scoop of towing and hauling capabilities, things get more complicated. Ford is claiming that the range figures for its electric pickup will come in at 230 miles and 300 miles, depending on whether the standard-range (which we estimate can hold 115.0 kWh) or extended-range battery pack (150.0 kWh, same caveat) is beneath the bed. If only electric vehicles would shoot sparks — in the marketplace, that is. Despite the billions of dollars invested by private corporations, and government subsidies, Americans are still indifferent as a whole over electric vehicles. Just two in every 10 Americans say they are “very likely” to buy an EV as their next car, according to a recent survey by the University of Chicago’s Energy Policy Institute and the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.CORRECTON*

(snip) who are you to tell us what it means to be a woman?”

So, uh, trying to think where was the last place I was; it’s hard to keep track.” “Ireland,” a child shouted out, jogging the president’s memory. “Yeah, you’re right, Ireland.
