A Louisiana high school senior was awarded a staggering amount of scholarships and was accepted to at least 170 colleges he applied to with more acceptance letters rolling in every day.
Dennis Barnes hopes to break the current record for most scholarships ever awarded, which currently sits at $9.4 million. The 16-year-old senior has been offered more than $9 million in scholarships so far. “My goal is to reach $10 million,” Barnes told the local station WWL-TV, per The Daily Mail.

FTA:
“I am a God-fearing young man; I keep God first,” he said. He offered advice to other students looking to succeed.
“If you keep your school, your education a priority and keep God in the mix, then you are definitely going to be successful no matter what you do,” the student said.

He's a 16 year old senior? He must have skipped a grade or two.

To make his accomplishment more remarkable, US News ranks Louisiana schools as 49th or 50th. Sadly, one must immediately think of the bonus given because he is black.
To reinforce that thought. From the article, "The current scholarship money record was set by Normandie Cormier in 2019. She was accepted into 139 colleges after applying with the Common App and the Common Black College App, which allows students to apply to hundreds of schools simultaneously." Imagine that, in this systemically racist society, there is a special college application app just for blacks.
My heart really goes out to any honest, hardworking, conservative person of any "minority" who have this stigma placed on them because of actions by race hustlers. I hope the young man does well and continues to grow into an exceptional example of what one can achieve through hard work in this country.

Who applies to more than 170 colleges ? Doesn't make sense to me. But I wish the lad good luck.

OK.....sadly, my first thought is "affirmative action". Perhaps I am wrong, and he's smart, hard working and capable.
But, experience shows that most of them are not, and got there by the color of their skin.

Yeah, what I thought. Another "oppressed" student reaping mind-boggling rewards for showing up and not killing anyone.

Ditto, #5
He’s looking for a place where…[he’ll] feel comfortable and they will take care of him financially. (No work-study or co-op for this young man!)
Interesting to see where he goes.

" US News ranks Louisiana schools as 49th or 50th..."
There's one elephant in the room.
“My goal is to reach $10 million...”
There's another and throw in the academic look Barnes is cultivating.
Let's see how this all shakes out.

They love to brag about these minorities "winning" scholarships and being accepted into Ivy Leagues. I call BS.

Is this kid interested in getting an education or winning the scholarship contest? At the moment, it appears to be the latter. Eventually, he'll have to chose a college, and it should be a school that isn't woke, if there is such a thing.

Didn't realize there was a special app that enabled some students to apply to hundreds of schools.
I would presume it's at no cost, or free, which might be a trigger for the colleges and universities.
#1 had good points to know from the article and about this young man.
Hopefully, the school he chooses won't change his beliefs and convictions.

I'll wager there are hundreds of better qualified students being offered much less; But they are Whites and Asians.
Here's the deal, I do not wish to be considered racist, but, cmon, man!
Best wishes to the lad, but all of that scholarship $$ needs to be spread widely

Do you know what's really sad about this otherwise very happy announcement? It's the fact that everyone who reads this headline is going to know without a moment's hesitation that it was a back kid who won all these scholarships. If it was a white kid, nobody outside his immediate family would know. Know what else is sad? The fact that the very next thought in everyone's mind is that he got the scholarships because he checked the "African-American" box on the applications, and if it was a white kid, the scholarship would probably never have been awarded. Five decades of "affirmative action" has taught us this.

You people know this kind of thing doesn't happen to the majority of smart, talented black students who attend college, right? Dang! Good grief.

Applying to all of these colleges just to set the record has a downside. Each application costs money and each acceptance may keep another student out of his/her college of choice.
