The federal government runs out of funding on Friday and this week should set up a hot debate over billions more in Ukraine aide, a pipeline payoff deal, Afghan refugee assistance and money to help pay for sky-high heating bills for low-income families. While a final funding bill is still being drawn up, the Senate is set to vote in a procedural move on a 'shell' of the bill on Tuesday, testing whether there is enough of an appetite for it to pass the 60-vote hurdle in the split Senate. Both sides are under pressure to pass a temporary bill to fund the government at its current levels

This past Friday, Kevin McCarthy and other GOP U.S. House leaders unveiled the long-awaited “Republican Commitment to America.” It didn’t disappoint. The plan was fittingly announced in Washington, Pennsylvania, not Washington, D.C. It addresses the mounting concerns of America’s hard-pressed majority: the working- and middle-classes.
That’s most of us -- whatever race, color, or creed. We’re daily struggling under the spreading policy and governance failures of our shady, witless president, Joe Biden, and congressional Democrats. Let’s not leave out Joe’s handlers and department and agency chiefs for ample rations of blame.

Nielsen Media Research tracked ratings for Wallace's show, Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, which debuted on CNN Sunday. The ratings show that there were 401,000 viewers, down 29% from the average, and 44,000 among those aged 25 to 54, down 64% from the average. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said he worries about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), asserting that the Sunshine State’s leader is a “bully.”
Newsom traveled to Texas — notably one of the states subject to California’s ban on “state-funded and state-sponsored travel” — over the weekend, speaking at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin where he further expressed his newfound obsession with disliking DeSantis. “I worry about Trump. “Thank you, USA,” European Parliament member Radoslaw Sikorski said on Twitter, sharing a photo of the Nord Stream leak in the Baltic Sea. Hours later, Sikorski added a follow-up tweet.
