California Wildfires, Blackout Fears Create
Conflict for Electric Car Users

Electric vehicle owners are caught in confusion as conflicting reports of energy conservation requests and wildfire evacuation warnings sweep California. Newsweek reported last week that much of southern California remains under an excessive heat warning, with the state's grid operator warning high temperatures could lead to blackouts. A prolonged heat wave has temperatures expected to reach as high as 115 degrees Fahrenheit in some parts, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Concurrently, wildfires threaten various parts of the state. Evacuation warnings are in place for several cities. Cal Fire Battalion Chief Issac Sanchez urges electric vehicle owners to not

A 'good' eco warrior will defer charging the EV when instructed to do so. But if there's a wildfire or blackout, that could be a very bad decision.

Since California has been having problems with their grid every summer for I don't know how long, why is this a surprise? Any moron, I am being generous here, could have seen this coming.

LOL! Life is all about choices. Choosing an electric vehicle is a very bad choice. Sometimes your life depends upon your vehicle, and that's when an EV will let you down. When we travel in remote parts of Kansas and Colorado, we always carry a two gallon gas can full of emergency fuel, about fifty miles for my 4Runner if we drive carefully, as we would if we needed the extra range. Can they carry an extra few gallons of electrons with their EVs? No?! LOL....bad choice, suckers.

As escapees from the People's Republik of Konnectikut where we lived for over 50 years and watched our beautiful state turn from red to blue, I feel for the many conservatives trapped in CA. Those of you who jeer, "Serves you right" every time articles like this are posted should remember that not every voter in CA is an idjit LIEberal. We had to stay in CT due to jobs and elder care family obligations, but fled to sunny FL as soon as possible, thank heavens. To our onservative CA friends here on, I do not smirk at your troubles.

I doubt it is much of a problem - most EV owners I know have EVs as second or third cars. They use them for tooling around town, but any long trip is taken in the gas-guzzling SUV or truck.

Screw the wildfires, CA's own allergy to building more power-generating capacity for over 50 years leaves us without sufficient capacity to charge all of today's EVs, let alone when totalitarian decrees require everybody to drive electric. No added complications (like natural disasters) are needed when you have socialist rulers who enjoy CREATING crises to dump on their people.

I have a second home in a small lake community. The roads are all private so no worry about having a few cocktails and getting a DUI. You might drive into the lake but at least no jail. We all have EVs to get around in....they are called golf carts and work well for their limited intended purpose. Maybe twenty-thirty years from now electric automobile will be affordable and practical but not now.

Keep a bike handy if you need to flee a fire. Might be needed if your EV battery is dead. Of course, that might be a problem is you aren't in peak health.

Our rulers never intended for people to actually DRIVE electric vehicles.... Yeah, they want us to buy them, but ultimately they want to force everyone into mass transportation, (when they allow us to travel at all).

Addressing a forum in Vladivostok, he said: “Will there be any political decisions that contradict the contracts? Yes, we just won’t fulfil them. We will not supply anything at all if it contradicts our interests.” Quoting a Russian

NEWNAN, Ga. — Georgia Democrats have grown increasingly pessimistic about Stacey Abrams’s chances of ousting Gov. Public and private polls have consistently shown her trailing Mr. Kemp, a Republican seeking a second term. And, in a particularly worrying sign for Ms. Abrams, polls also show she is drawing less support than the other high-profile Democrat on the ballot, Senator Raphael Warnock, who is seeking a first

Pennsylvania lieutenant governor and U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman has not fully recovered from the serious stroke he suffered in May. His campaign has acknowledged his obvious struggles with “auditory processing” and speech, but the persistence of those struggles has contrasted with the campaign’s rosier predictions of a return to the rigors of campaigning, including debating his opponent, Mehmet Oz. If Mr. Fetterman is not well enough to debate his opponent, that raises serious concerns about his ability to serve as a United States senator. None of this excuses the antics of Mr. Oz’s campaign, which has decided that their

A good year can be followed by three bad ones, and 2022 has been a burden. Manchin, who had originally pledged not to sign on to any new spending bill during the country’s current inflationary boom, suddenly switched his position at the end of July. The bill he negotiated, which cost nearly a trillion dollars, was full of wasteful green energy subsidies and payouts to special interests.
