Buick to offer buyouts to U.S. dealers
as brand prepares for all-electric future

General Motors Co. will offer buyouts to Buick dealers in the U.S. who decide not to opt in to the brand's plans to be all-electric by 2030, the company confirmed Friday. The news first was reported by the Wall Street Journal ahead of a Buick dealer meeting on Friday. The buyout program would be open to all of the brand's 2,000 U.S. dealers, according to spokeswoman Michelle Malcho. Dealers who accept the buyout still would be able to sell other GM brands, as the program applies only to the Buick franchise. Malcho said the brand does not have a target

Comments:

Buick's market share is barely 1%. GM probably wants to get rid of it so will sacrifice the brand to the EV gods.

I think the headline is sort of misleading. Should read Buick to offer buyouts to U.S. dealers as brand prepares for all-electric failure. No one is going to buy electric cars. If you are dumb stupid an idiot or all three you will buy an EV. Gas cars will just become more and more valuable as this market disaster gets closer.

Poster #1, I believe it is because they are not planning to make enough EV Buicks for all of the dealers they currently have to have inventory. They know there are not enough resources to make as many EVs as they currently make ICE cars.

Wait until the gubbermint decides that EVs should all be standardized to facilitate battery production, replacement, and recycling. Then there will be only one make and it will be called the "Brandon."

Buick has been making bad decisions for a little while now. Buick's loss is Cadillac's gain. Many former Buick drivers loved Buick sedans, like my wife drove until recently. Most of those people will not transition to electric automobiles even if it was possible. When Buick dropped sedans, we tried to buy a Cadillac sedan, but the dealer didn't have any in stock. We ultimately bought an Infinity Q50, which my wife loves. I believe Buick is now catering to the Chinese market and is going to soon disappear from the USA market. Other than Cadillac, there are now no upscale sedans in the domestic auto lines other than the Chrysler 300 which has not been updated since forever.

If you’re considering buying an electric vehicle ask your dealer this question. “When my car needs a new battery, what will be it’s trade in value? Then ask him what they’re doing with all of those dead batteries.

Biden may not have faced explicit primary threats, but a handful of younger Democrats whose profile was rising seemed to be holding themselves out as more passionate, forceful leaders for the party, as governors like Gavin Newsom of California and J.B. Whenever political leaders lose all political capital due to their misgovernance and have no real issues to base their campaign on, they often resort to focusing on the symbolic — usually referring to "the soul of the nation." This happened before in the U.S., it happened in India, it happened in the U.K. and it happened again in the U.S. This is most typical of the left. Instead of being humble and conceding their mistakes, they attack voters for thinking of voting against them while overlooking the myriad catastrophes they presided over. They often blame their opponents for what they are guilty of — bigotry, violence — and then end with the "soul" plea.
