Comments:

QEII knew it was best to just accept reality and give Camilla the title. Since Charles is already age 73, she won't be on the throne for too long.

A king is born to the rank. His wife becomes queen by marriage. There is never ever a king consort which is why Philip was created a Duke and eventually a Prince. A queen can never have a king consort because a king outranks a queen and that's never allowed to happen.

Camilla's family has a multi- generational tradition of being royal mistresses ( whores someone inclined to be less elegant might say). Having said that, Camilla has worked hard to gain the people's favor and she might be a steadying influence on Charlie.

Queen consort basically translates as "Mrs. King", reply #2 has the explanation. Comes with the package. We used to refer to married women by their husband's name, i.e. : Mrs. William Jefferson Clinton". Still correct, and I'd use it to just to bug her.

Perhaps I missed it in the article but Queen Elizabeth’s mother was the Queen of England. Diana, had she lived and not walked out of the marriage, would be Queen of England now. The reason that Camilla can’t be queen is because she had a prior marriage.

# 6 No. It has to do with birth. Charles ( like him or not ) was born a prince. Elizabeth's mother was NOT the Queen of England. She was Queen Elizabeth , the Queen consort of George VI. George was the King of England . Re Camilla , divorce has nothing to to with rank. Re Diana , she would have been a queen consort, NOT the queen of England

Complicated(potentially) further by "Morganatic Marriages", where succession is not passed on to the progeny. But the existing brothers/sisters/cousins,nephews/nieces etc of a departed Ruler. Such created the House of Mounbattan, The children from Napolean the 1st wife's subsequent marriages, several Sicilian houses, Russian and Holy Roman Empire houses, Swedish houses...not only when they have married commoners, but also due to marrying lesser nobility. It doesn't mean the power left the "Family", because many were closely interbred Hapsburgs, Midicis, Bourbons,Stuarts etc to begin with and thus the goal of the Titles stayed in the "Family".

AND....Regents....where people who cannot actually inherit the crowns, still "Rule" because the child who one day will wear the crown is too young, and the Regent acts in their stead as "Protector"

Don't agree at all #3. If she really had cared about Charles, she would not have been insinuating herself between Charles and Diana. Like Diana said, it was a crowded marriage. He needs to grow up and she needed to just get out of town. IIRC some conversations I had in the past with British citizens, her being queen consort might not be all that certain if Parliament decides to have a say. Their opinion carries a lot of weight in the succession.

Someone should tell Ms. Ashlyn Messier that when speaking of royal persons the word is not coronate/coronated, but rather just the simple word CROWN/CROWNED. Coronate is a word used mainly in science and by ignorant writers trying to appear intelligent. Ashlyn, you totally failed on this one.

The Dubious History of the Name 'King Charles' 10 replies

King Charles III, who ascended to the throne on Thursday, has chosen to rule with the name he was given at birth. But as a British king it comes with baggage. Charles I, born in 1600, endured a stormy reign that ended with his execution 49 years later. In between, he provoked a civil war and erased the notion of an all-powerful monarchy—or indeed, of any monarchy at all for the 11 years after his beheading outside Banqueting House in London. Charles II, his son, chose to lay low on the European continent for what came to be known

Pennsylvania lieutenant governor and U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman has not fully recovered from the serious stroke he suffered in May. His campaign has acknowledged his obvious struggles with “auditory processing” and speech, but the persistence of those struggles has contrasted with the campaign’s rosier predictions of a return to the rigors of campaigning, including debating his opponent, Mehmet Oz. If Mr. Fetterman is not well enough to debate his opponent, that raises serious concerns about his ability to serve as a United States senator. None of this excuses the antics of Mr. Oz’s campaign, which has decided that their

Americans are flocking to the coasts faster than ever before. And with much of the nation's priciest properties already concentrated near shorelines, this puts more people and buildings at risk from the kind of extreme storms and flooding linked to climate change. But for many communities across the U.S. the toll is likely to go far beyond physical damage. Rising sea levels could have a knock-on effect, making certain areas unlivable long before they're uninhabitable, effectively creating zombie towns, according to a new analysis from nonprofit environmental group Climate Central that looks at the financial impact of sea-level rise over the coming century.

To try and head off a likely loss of the House of Representatives and prepare for the next presidential election, Democrats create situations which raise anxiety in citizens, and this increases the chances their candidate will prevail because voters know discord will then subside. If you do want Civil War, vote Republican.” They make it very clear your life will only be peaceful if you keep Democrats in power, and they think that this is persuasive enough to tip elections.

Credit card companies currently lump firearm retailers in with other outlets, classifying them as either “5999: Miscellaneous retail stores” or “5941: Sporting Goods Stores.”
