Naming Things

Original Article

Posted By: Imright, 7/31/2022 5:44:12 AM

In Genesis, Adam names all the creatures of the earth. “God formed out of the earth all the wild beasts and all the birds of the sky and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that would be its name.” There are lots of explanations for why this is significant, depending on your theological viewpoint. To me naming things is not insignificant in everyday life. How you call something shapes the meaning in your mind and manipulates your point of view.

Ms Feldman eviscerates this political game, focusing on the buzz around "recession," "women" and "monkeypox." Her close is as blunt as any she's penned: In countless ways, the Left and its front -- the Biden Administration -- play mind games with us. Don’t go along with this; it’s mind-numbing and only leads to stupid, often dangerous policies.

The left understands that language is their most powerful tool against their opposition. Allowing them to set the narrative by redefining words is enabling them to influence the public to believe whatever they are told. Just once I would like to see a member of the Republican Party blow up definitions out of the dictionary and explain to the public why words have meaning and democrats cannot just redefine words we have always used. An obvious one would be woman. When they redefine what we know to be true, ridicule them. Make them look like the fools they are. We cannot accept their definition of words we know to be correct. Point and laugh at their utter foolishness. Ridicule is a powerful weapon and no one hates to be made fun of more than democrats. We cannot just sit back and allow them free reign. Why do Republicans believe this is a viable strategy? It makes no sense.

A long time ago, the mainstream media always referred to Palestinian refugee camps. The rest of us thought of Palestinians living in tents with outhouses. Pretty grim. After 9-11, some in the media filmed Palestinians cheering in their 'camps.' The world saw houses, skyscrapers, fast-food joints, and grocery stores. Since then, I've never seen the term "Palestinian refugee camps" anywhere in the media. They were caught in their lie, their naming a subject for propaganda.

In Isaiah there's a passage about God's Word, how he sends it out and it always produces fruit. The forces of darkness know this power, and they know we are made in the likeness of God ourselves, so they seek to pervert the creative power of our words because they pervert all good things.

Really, her point is well taken, but she seems to indicate the name-game is only played by those on the left. It's played by people of all stripes. Remember the running joke about a housewife calling herself a "domestic engineer"? Is any of that soap you buy really "new and improved" over the last box or bottle you bought? Advertising has been misrepresenting and abusing language since Adam named those animals. Those too lazy or intellectually incapable just go along, and soon the language evolves to include a new meaning for words.

As America moves like a barreling freight train into a third-world country, one must ask, where is Mayor Pete? It honestly didn’t take long after Joe Biden became President for shipping containers to start piling up and causing backlog and supply chain issues across the country. The estimated cost is being passed on to Americans causing the price of goods and services to increase 4.5 times more than what they had been paying at the end of 2020. The cost of exporting goods has also skyrocketed. (Tweet)

Republican Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers lost his bid for a state Senate seat after refusing then-President Donald Trump´s pleas to help overturn the 2020 election results and testifying before Congress about the efforts. Bowers tried to move to the state Senate because of term limits. He lost to former state Senator David Farnsworth, who criticized him for refusing to help Trump or go along with a contentious 2021 'audit' that Republican leaders in the Senate commissioned.

There will be no second term for Showtime’s The First Lady, which starred Viola Davis as Michelle Obama. The dramatic anthology series has been canceled after just one season following ridicule from viewers and widespread negative reviews. The series also failed to pick up any major Emmy Award nominations, though it did receive a few nods in technical categories. Showtime confirmed the cancellation in a statement sent to multiple outlets on Monday, saying the show “will not be moving forward with another season.” The First Lady focused the wives of the presidents, with the plan to cover three administrations per season.

This is an election year. But the issues this year are not about Democrats and Republicans. The big issue is whether this nation has degenerated to a point of no return -- a point where we risk destroying ourselves, before our enemies can destroy us. If there is one moment that symbolized our degeneration, it was when an enraged mob gathered in front of the Supreme Court and a leader of the United States Senate shouted threats against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, saying "You won't know what hit you!" There have always been irresponsible demagogues.

For months, Republicans have been telling anybody who would listen that this is the year they will end their power outage in Albany. They cite violent crime and inflation, an apparent lack of enthusiasm for Gov. Hochul and a national fury over the failures of the Biden administration. Despite those advantages, there’s been little evidence so far that the GOP could free New York from the Dem stranglehold. A Tuesday poll begins to change that. Hochul leads Republican Lee Zeldin by just 14 points, 53-39, in the Siena College survey.

The hellfire missiles that are said to have taken out Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, but not his family, are a newer generation of missiles that are high on precision and devoid of explosives. The AGM 14 R9X missile, made by Lockheed Martin, can be fired from, in Zawahiri’s case, a Reaper drone as well as other platforms. It can be fired from 600 miles away. Because its payload is tungsten and not packed explosives, this version of the hellfire doesn’t have the accompanying explosion– unless it hits, for instance, a full gas tank in a car. The R9X is called a Ninja because of the six blades deployed during flight

Jill’s own star has been fading recently, as she stepped on a rake with tacogate and her approval ratings crumbled.
