State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski dropped out of the Democratic U.S. Senate primary Friday, clearing the field of major contenders for the party's presumptive nominee, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes. Barnes will face Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson in November. If elected, Barnes would be the state's first Black senator. Godlewski was the third top-tier candidate to withdraw in the last five days, following the exits of Milwaukee Bucks executive Alex Lasry and Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson. The primary is Aug. 9.

Comments:

And this is how it's done...clear the field to ensure Barnes goes against Sen. Ron Johnson with a united party. I'm sure there were pledges to pick up expenses of the dropouts. None seemed to have gained any traction and didn't seem to spend much in recent weeks. The November election will be interesting.

So while he is out there campaigning, who is doing his job? He is Tony Ever's Lt. Gov but he must not have too many responsibilities if he can campaign. . .

#4, in 2018, 3-4 bags came in the midnight hour to give Tony Evers the win. I don't need to say anymore about the 2020 election. If this same style of voting takes place in November, Republicans will not be able to get away with doing nothing. Scott Walker did nothing and Republicans (Robin Vos) did nothing. Not this time. . .

You would think by now people would vote for someone who won’t sell you out instead of someone because of their race or sex. Look what we have running (ruining) our country. I don’t think equity or diversity is enough if that is all they have going for them

#2, the typical State Lt. Gov. has almost nothing top do. That is the case for Wisconsin - many decades ago, I interviewed the then lt. gov., in Wisconsis on a research project. He had an openb calendar, and seemed happy to see me. John Fetterman is the lt. gov. of Pennsylvania, and doesn't even bother to show up in Harrisburg. He just collects his 170,000 annual salary, and stays in his residence near Pittsburgh,, where he lives in a converted gas station. He has no reason to go to Harrisburg. Nothing for him to do. So like the Junior Mandela, Fetterman is running for the U.S. Senate. Fetterman cleverly does not talk about his ethnicity - he could easily pass as a light skinned African American, and I suspect a lot of voters will vote for him, believing he is black. His wife is African-Brazilian, illegal immigrant. And she ism campaigning for Fetterman at the moment, as he recovers from a stroke.

For months, Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes looked like a runaway candidate for the Democratic Senate nomination in the state, which would pit him against Sen. Ron Johnson (R) in November. A progressive star who’d already won a statewide election, Barnes has racked up endorsements from Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (SC), Sen. Cory Booker (NJ), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA) and more since announcing his candidacy in July 2021. (SNIP) But in the last three months, (Alex) Lasry’s been on a spending blitz. Last quarter alone he pumped $6.5 million of his own money toward his campaign, bringing his total self-lending to $12.3 million...

As the House committee probing the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol continues to reveal how it says then-President Donald Trump and his allies worked to overturn the 2020 election, a bipartisan group of senators has quietly reached agreement on a sweeping effort to overhaul the very law at the heart of the former president's effort -- the Electoral Count Act of 1887 -- and was set to unveil a bill Wednesday. The ambiguous 19th century law attempts to prescribe both the process by which the Electoral College selects the president and vice president and how Congress then counts those votes.

Republican candidate for governor Tim Michels has spent nearly $7.7 million since entering the race three months ago — an aggressive strategy that has pushed him to the top of the Republican primary in recent state polling. Michels, a multimillionaire who co-owns the state's largest construction company, has donated $7.9 million of his own money to his campaign since April — accounting for nearly all of the money the campaign raised as of July, according to Michels' first campaign finance report.

Abbott’s announcement came as he voiced opposition to President Joe Biden lifting Title 42, the public health policy the Trump administration started during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rob Reiner has made many wild and unsubstantiated claims on Twitter. On Friday, he managed to top himself by declaring that Joe Biden is the best president in nearly 60 years. The result has been widespread ridicule, with the term “Meathead” trending on Twitter late Friday. (“Meathead” refers to the dim-witted character Reiner played on the sitcom All in the Family). Reiner, who was one of Biden’s biggest Hollywood fundraisers during the 2020 election, trumpeted his opinion while acknowledging that it goes against the prevailing popular sentiment. As Breitbart News reported, a recent Yahoo News/YouGov survey found that just one in five Americans want Biden to run for reelection in 2024.

But they were quite clear. I have no idea where the video came from, but I think it’s worth noting because it seems to show that the Democrat party has so successfully racialized America in the last 15 years or so that we are beginning to live out Charles Manson’s “Helter Skelter” madness. Manson’s dream was to destroy society, so it’s up to us to recognize what’s going on and fight back against this almost apocalyptic racial division. The video is a simple one: Someone inside a busy urban venue (it seems like a coffee shop) is filming a brutal beatdown on the street outside. Two young Black men are attacking an older White man.

Hershey Co (HSY.N)said on Thursday it would fall short of meeting demand for the all-important Halloween and Christmas holiday seasons this year, blaming a scarcity of raw ingredients and difficulties in securing suppliers. Pandemic-induced global supply chain disruptions and the Russia-Ukraine war have crunched supplies of cocoa, edible oil and other food ingredients, pinching production lines of packaged food companies around the world. Hershey Chief Executive Officer Michele Buck said those issues, along with the company's focus on meeting demand during non-holiday periods, would lead to a likely shortage during Halloween, but added that sales will still top last year.

Moderna will sell doses of its vaccine that target Omicron subvariants, according to the agencies that announced the agreement. The actual contract has not yet been made public. Moderna and other vaccine makers have been updating their COVID-19 vaccine formulations because the vaccines are based on the Wuhan strain, which has not been prevalent since 2020.
