Secret Service Denies Deleting Text Messages,
Blames Phone Reset

Original Article

The U.S. Secret Service has denied allegations that the agency deleted text messages from January 5 and 6, 2021 after they had been requested by the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general. Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi issued a strongly worded statement on Thursday that refuted the claims by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and blamed a "reset" of the agency's mobile phones for the loss of some data other than the messages in question.

Comments:

Someone's either lying or plainly stupid. Certainly, the Secret Service understands preserving evidence and records, especially those on phones. The story of J6 is a shambles no matter how one sizes it up. Seems accusations are empty posturing by public officials. Yet, where are the demonstrations and demands by key "conservatives" to release the J6 detainees? Where are the habeas corpus filings? Where is the slightest pushback by the vaunted "MAGA movement"? The Left would have some sympathetic Supreme Court Justice cranking out injunctions on "emergency" demands. Don't tell me it's being ignored by the media. Long past time for "real conservatives" to do something "radical", starting with showing up.

They are government workers. Of course they are lying. A government worker will lie even when the truth would serve them better. It is the nature of people who go into government. It is their natural inclination. If I were standing outside next to a government worker on a clear, bright day; looking up at the sky, and the government worker told me that the sky was blue; I would NOT believe it.

The Secret Service don't backup data before any transfer? Smartphones have limited storage, so should be backed up periodically, so storage can be freed. The Secret Service don't have any procedures for that? When the Secret Service is in the news, it is for prostitute solicitation, leaving their guns on public transport, public intoxication, or crashing their vehicles at intersections.

Millions of Americans rely on the federal government to cover the cost of college. Education loans have existed for generations, but borrowing only really took off in the past two decades. Soaring college costs, higher enrollment, changes to the federal lending system, labor market demand for credentials and paltry wage growth have all contributed to the $1.6 trillion in outstanding federal student debt. This does not include debt originated in the private market.
