Dick’s Sporting Goods goes to bat for
its employees on abortion issue

Anyone who though the nation’s biggest sports store was going to sit out one of America’s most contentious moments doesn’t know Dick’s. Dick’s Sporting Goods went to bat for its employees following Friday Supreme Court’s ruling to strike down abortion rights. The bold move knocked stock prices out of the ballpark. “Dear teammates,” begins an open letter from company chairman Ed Stack and CEO Lauren Hobart. “You are the heart of our business, and we are committed to protecting your health and well-being.”

And those of us that could possibly shop at your stores have the right to go elsewhere. I'm fine with this, except this is just another reason to never shop there.

Certainly their right as a company. I appreciate their transparency, because it makes it easier for me to know where not to go. I think I need to start keeping a list.

Didn't read the whole article because it was behind a pay wall, however, this comment applies to all companies like Dick's. The cost of helping their pregnant employees get abortions will be passed on to the customers. So if that's where you want to shop, go ahead and support abortion that way. At least I don't have to be a part of it. Also, I want to know the identity of the Supreme Court leaker. The Justices are targets while the leaker is safe. This is so wrong. The insiders know who it is and yet continue to protect this person. I'm fed up with the justice system. It isn't "just."

Poster #2, I've kept a list on my refrigerator for a long time. Dick's was already on it. The list continues to grow. No problem. There is nothing those companies offer that I need, or can't find somewhere else.

$4,000 for travel & hotel for a day or two sounds a little extreme. I'm assuming traveling by car, staying at a Holiday Inn Express, and the abortion covered by Dick's medical plan. 4,000 bucks can pay for a week's vacation. Don't go to the closest clinic, go to one near a beach or casino.

So Dick's Sporting Goods believes late term abortions are important to many of its employees. I'm sure they don't have agreement from all their potential customers. Dick's Sporting Goods previously took a stand on firearms that was not well considered. Dick's Sporting Goods wants to be the supplier of choice for the left leaning crowd. Obviously Dick's Sporting Goods doesn't care that they are making a bad business decision by seeking to make public statements that are offensive to many people.

In the last paragraph, the daily news takes a swipe at conservative “Internet trolls” who called for a boycott of Dick’s SG. According to my observations, Dick’s stores have low customer volume. Bass Pro Shops appear busier, and Scheel’s outlets are usually crowded.

Wonder if shareholders will have something to say about such a gesture. They are publicly traded, so the CEO can't simply dictate things, particularly additional costs to their health insurance not to mention making sure the employee has accidental death insurance in case something happens on the trip (i.e. car accident). There is a lot more to consider

If I am a woman and I work for Dick's (what an appropriate name by the way for such an evil company), I am going to need an abortion every 4 months. You know Dick's is too "woke" to demand proof of pregnancy. If a woman says she "needs" an abortion, they will just hand over $4,000 and a ticket to wherever the woman wants to go to slaughter her unborn baby (whether it exists or not). Cuba-fornia has already announced that they are going to be the "Las Vegas of abortion" -- free luxury hotel room, drinks, and a steak dinner with every baby sacrifice to the dark lord Satan in abortion in Cuba-fornia. Hey, it's a fun place for a vacation on the company dime!!!

The Supreme Court ruling Thursday that reined in the Environmental Protection Agency‘s power to regulate climate change was a win for conservatives who have long sought to shrink the “administrative state,” a power federal agencies wield over large swaths of the U.S. economy and everyday life. But environmental experts and advocates have warned that it could have far-reaching implications for both combating climate change and how the federal government sets other regulations. “The court has placed its thumb on the scales — an anti-regulatory thumb — that’s going to make it much more difficult for agencies to regulate,”

For congressional Republicans, the election can’t come soon enough. In the modern era, it’s hard to think of a time when the party out of power had more things going its way. Harry Enten, CNN’s political data analyst, recently noted that going by the generic ballot, things haven’t looked this good for Republicans to pick up House seats in the midterms since 1938. Since 1980, the party of the president in power has lost an average of 22 seats in the midterms. Republicans need only nine to win the majority. Of course, Republicans think this means they’re doing something right.

For many readers, the above title will conjure up memories of the 2008 housing crash caused by the proliferation of subprime mortgages and the subsequent tsunami of defaults. But a better corollary for the coming Biden bust is the Carter crash that occurred three decades earlier. This, in turn, produced double-digit mortgage rates that priced millions of potential buyers out of the market.

As RedState’s Cameron Arcand reported Tuesday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom vacationed in Montana with his family over the 4th of July holiday – a state that is currently on the list of states to which California has banned state-sponsored travel because it’s deemed to have anti-LGBTQ “discriminatory laws.” (snip) Newsom is afforded a state-funded security detail through the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and there’s no indication that those officers are not with him. That apparently puts Newsom in violation of California’s AB-1887, signed by Newsom’s predecessor, Jerry Brown, in 2016.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Tuesday he had no intention of raising the retirement age for pilots after a holiday weekend of flight cancellations amid airline staffing shortages. The industry increased the age limit 15 years ago for commercial pilots to 65 years as they moved to head off forecasts of shortages. But the pandemic triggered a wave of early retirements and airlines are once again complaining of shortages. Buttigieg said he would not raise the retirement age, even though Americans are living and working longer - like his 79-year-old boss Joe Biden.
