Anyone who though the nation’s biggest sports store was going to sit out one of America’s most contentious moments doesn’t know Dick’s.
Dick’s Sporting Goods went to bat for its employees following Friday Supreme Court’s ruling to strike down abortion rights. The bold move knocked stock prices out of the ballpark.
“Dear teammates,” begins an open letter from company chairman Ed Stack and CEO Lauren Hobart. “You are the heart of our business, and we are committed to protecting your health and well-being.”
And those of us that could possibly shop at your stores have the right to go elsewhere. I'm fine with this, except this is just another reason to never shop there.

Certainly their right as a company. I appreciate their transparency, because it makes it easier for me to know where not to go. I think I need to start keeping a list.

Didn't read the whole article because it was behind a pay wall, however, this comment applies to all companies like Dick's. The cost of helping their pregnant employees get abortions will be passed on to the customers. So if that's where you want to shop, go ahead and support abortion that way. At least I don't have to be a part of it. Also, I want to know the identity of the Supreme Court leaker. The Justices are targets while the leaker is safe. This is so wrong. The insiders know who it is and yet continue to protect this person. I'm fed up with the justice system. It isn't "just."

Poster #2, I've kept a list on my refrigerator for a long time. Dick's was already on it. The list continues to grow. No problem. There is nothing those companies offer that I need, or can't find somewhere else.

Won't affect my shopping choices. I dumped Dick's years ago when they stopped selling "shooting products". Go woke, go broke.

$4,000 for travel & hotel for a day or two sounds a little extreme. I'm assuming traveling by car, staying at a Holiday Inn Express, and the abortion covered by Dick's medical plan. 4,000 bucks can pay for a week's vacation. Don't go to the closest clinic, go to one near a beach or casino.

Poor written article. Says the Supreme Joke overturned 'legislation' past 50 years ago. NO, they overturned five black -robed demigods' dictate issued 50 years ago. We the People had no say through our elected officials 50 years ago.

I'm an old woman and the only thing I ever bought at Dick's was athletic shoes. I have a lot more sources to go to for those, so bye bye Dick's. It's ironic that you will pay for employees to go somewhere to kill your future customers.

We've seen this before, companies breaking their necks to jump out in front of a current topic to get favorable news coverage. Didn't end well for Disney.

So Dick's Sporting Goods believes late term abortions are important to many of its employees. I'm sure they don't have agreement from all their potential customers. Dick's Sporting Goods previously took a stand on firearms that was not well considered. Dick's Sporting Goods wants to be the supplier of choice for the left leaning crowd. Obviously Dick's Sporting Goods doesn't care that they are making a bad business decision by seeking to make public statements that are offensive to many people.

In the last paragraph, the daily news takes a swipe at conservative “Internet trolls” who called for a boycott of Dick’s SG. According to my observations, Dick’s stores have low customer volume. Bass Pro Shops appear busier, and Scheel’s outlets are usually crowded.

call me cynical, but I bet somewhere there is a guy with a calculator and green eye shade that fiured out paying for an abortion is a lot cheaper for Dicks than prenatal, delivery, maternity leave, and pediatric care. Besides not having the mom taking off for sick kids and such...

Choice has consequences. The employees soon won't have their employer paying for the abortion expenses. They certainly deserve to dissolve.

Go woke - go broke. Dick's lost customers when they moved to anti-gun. Now they can finish themselves off. I am sure Amazon has everything that they have (even though Amazon is woke too). However, let's first get rid of Dick's due to lack of business.

Unless you are the sole supplier of a certain product, it makes no business sense to alienate a large percentage of your customers.

Parents with a child that needs a life savings surgical procedure that is only available in another state? Come up with the funds to travel or just let the kid die. Want to kill off the result of a drunken night of unprotected sex, Dick’s has you covered up to $ 4,000. Not my kind of store.

It's cheaper to pay for the abortion than to cover the mother's pre-natal visits, the cost of her delivery & the addition of the healthy infant to the company's group insurance. See? It's all about the money. It's always all about the money.

I vaguely remember a time on this site when a handful of one or two or three using different names tried to promote some liberal republican clown who had SUCCESSFULLY turned around Dick's sporting goods with his hedge fund---he bought it cheap, sold all its contracts to factorys making crap in China and for this he was cited as presidential material. along with great teeth, slick hair and authoring a health care plan that forced Catholics to pay for abortions in his state-- pre Obama.
Utah has now adopted him as one of their own.

Wonder if shareholders will have something to say about such a gesture.
They are publicly traded, so the CEO can't simply dictate things, particularly additional costs to their health insurance not to mention making sure the employee has accidental death insurance in case something happens on the trip (i.e. car accident).
There is a lot more to consider

If I am a woman and I work for Dick's (what an appropriate name by the way for such an evil company), I am going to need an abortion every 4 months. You know Dick's is too "woke" to demand proof of pregnancy. If a woman says she "needs" an abortion, they will just hand over $4,000 and a ticket to wherever the woman wants to go to slaughter her unborn baby (whether it exists or not).
Cuba-fornia has already announced that they are going to be the "Las Vegas of abortion" -- free luxury hotel room, drinks, and a steak dinner with every baby sacrifice to the dark lord Satan in abortion in Cuba-fornia. Hey, it's a fun place for a vacation on the company dime!!!
