Bill Maher closed his show on HBO Friday night with a harsh takedown of the viral upheaval at the Washington Post earlier this month. “If you missed it, the Washington Post recently got embroiled in a self-inflicted s—storm when one of their best reporters David Weigel retweeted, not tweeted, retweeted this joke: ‘Every girl is bi. You just have to figure out if it’s polar or sexual,'” Maher began. (Video) Maher blasted the “unlicensed daycare center that is today’s newsroom” for going “apes—,” pointing to reporter Felicia Sonmez’s tweet publicly shaming Weigel, who had removed the retweeted and apologized.

Flashes of sanity coming more often to Maher. Is it possible that he's coming out of his leftist coma and becoming a sensible, sane person? Seems very unlikely. And I still despise him.

Construction continues on Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner's lavish $24 million waterfront mansion in Miami in the exclusive Indian Creek estate. The couple purchased the property with six-bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms in the private and guarded Billionaire Bunker in April 2021. Construction has been underway since at least February and has made major progress. New photos show the construction process, revealing multiple structures on the waterfront lot, including a two-story structure main house and what looks to be a one-story back house. The two structures that sit parallel to each other are separated by an empty pool in the backyard that is waiting to be finished.

The Senate on Thursday night passed gun control legislation, clearing the way for final congressional approval of what will be the most significant firearms legislation in decades. The 65-33 vote came after a month of negotiations that eventually found a compromise on one of the country's most contentious political issues. Yet the nation's divisions were on clear display on a day when the Supreme Court expanded gun rights by ruling Americans have a constitutional right to carry handguns in public for self-defense. The legislation provides about $15 billion in funding to help states implement red-flag laws to keep guns from high-risk owners and expand background checks.

Although the U.S. Supreme Court handed down many noteworthy cases on Thursday, including one further protecting the Second Amendment, it still has yet to hand down Dobbs v. Jackson. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was still asked about it during the day's briefing, though, in preparation for when the decision does come down. A reporter had asked "just to be clear, will the president accept this decision as legitimate even if he disagrees with it," speaking about about Dobbs overturning Roe v. Wade. (Tweet/Video)

With the Biden administration we are truly in a wilderness of curved mirrors, where people don’t trust what they see and what government says. The people behind Joe Biden don’t even try to hide the fact that their agenda constitutes what many feel is nothing short of betrayal -- a government against the people. We are passing through a time when the elite of our society call right, wrong and wrong, right, and when evil is called good and good is called evil. Before we consider what can be done, let’s take a walk through the current upside-down priorities of the various agencies of our government:

Tuesday’s Supreme Court decision in Carson v. Makin highlights America’s complicated religious history. The nation’s highest court correctly held that Maine violated the US Constitution’s First Amendment by excluding religious schools from a tuition assistance program that allows parents to use vouchers to send their children to public or private schools — though three justices disagreed because they misread that history. Chief Justice John Roberts’ opinion — joined by the five other conservative justices — emphasized the free-exercise clause, which “Maine’s ‘nonsectarian’ requirement for its otherwise generally available tuition assistance payments violates,” he wrote.

Following the drunk driving arrest of Nancy Pelosi’s husband, a Wednesday New York Times piece exposed new details about the Democratic House Speaker’s lavish lifestyle, as well as her husband's troubled driving record. On May 28, Paul Pelosi drove a small distance in his Porsche 911 from the swanky California estate of friend and Democratic donor Alexander Mehran to his home in Napa Valley. Soon after departing, a Jeep slammed into his vehicle as he attempted to cross the highway. He was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, and will head to court on August 3. The Times called the incident "not especially flattering," but noted Mr. Pelosi’s recent cataract surgery

Despite a draft opinion indicating the Supreme Court would overturn Roe v. Wade in its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the court has yet to issue an opinion in the case, which some legal experts argue is a means to maintain engagement with the public. Though the court heard arguments on Dobbs in December and the draft opinion leaked in May, the court has still not issued an opinion. Jonathan Turley, an attorney and professor at George Washington University Law School, argued the Supreme Court was attempting to drum up suspense.

The Biden administration on Tuesday proposed changes to the federal civil-rights statute banning sex discrimination in federally funded education programs, including expanding protections to sexual orientation and gender identity. One proposed change “would make clear that preventing any person from participating in an education program or activity consistent with their gender identity would subject them to more than de minimis harm on the basis of sex and therefore be prohibited, unless otherwise permitted by Title IX or the regulations.” If adopted, the rule change would bar universities and any other federally funded institutions from maintaining men’s and women’s sports and sex-segregated spaces like locker rooms and dormitories.
