Illinois' richest man is leaving the state and taking his billion-dollar hedge firm with him to Florida amid rising crime in the Windy City.
In a memo to employees, Ken Griffin announced he and his family are relocating to Miami, Florida - and said the headquarters of his Citadel hedge fund and his trading firm Citadel Securities will move with him.
'Chicago will continue to be important to the future of the Citadel, as many of our colleagues have deep ties to Illinois,' he wrote in the memo, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
'Over the past year, however, many of our Chicago teams have asked to relocate

You know, at this rate Florida could easily become a stand alone country. Not that I'm saying they should. But right now it's the most reasonably run place in the country. I've lived there. It is a nice place. I could go back.

with an attitude like that Mr. Griffin will become a valuable asset to the Sunshine State and Ron DeSantis, good work Mr. Griffin, I didn't think there were any Patriots left in Illinois but surprise, surprise there you were and now you're a citizen of Florida - hope your happiness is abundant

I can see Lightfoot now. She is screaming that she thinks the white supremacist billionaire hates her people and he is doing this to hurt her city. This woman let this city get out of control long ago with the defund the police. She did nothing when the city was burning and robbed during the so call riots or BLM christmas shopping. She owns every bit of this city turning into a dumpster fire. No one in their right mind wants to live there.

I remember a time when a college friend, who was doing research and teaching at the University of Miami was victim of crimes as were all his neighbors. This was in the '80s and he couldn't find a handgun to carry (illegally at the time) to protect himself and his family. I had one shipped to a dealer in his area for him to purchase. He told me at the time that a Univ of Miami faculty party often had what kind of gun they were illegally carrying as a topic of conversation. Things were so bad that Florida became one of the earliest states to put in place an objective standards "shall issue" concealed carry permit system in 1987. I got one
as a non-resident in 1988 and was able to legally carry in about 15 states at that time, and a few years later I joined with many others and began working with a state-wide group to change our CCW laws, which didn't happen until 2003.
Apparently Miami is far safer now that ordinary citizens can be armed for their own defense. Seems to have pushed the 1980s crime wave back a lot.
Unfortunately, how much of the employee base will bring their leftist voting patterns with them, like all the NY folks who infest Miami have done?
