Report: More universities holding segregated

Universities are increasingly offering graduation events focused on participants’ identities and segregated by race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and even income, according to a report by a conservative education publication. Campus Reform, which is published by the Leadership Institute in Arlington, Virginia, reported last week that more than three dozen colleges and universities are holding graduation events this summer to recognize groups based on race, gender and sexual orientation. Columbia University, Harvard University, Ohio State University, Illinois State University and the University of Texas at Austin are among those offering special ceremonies for Black graduates.(Snip)Other schools are hosting special graduations to recognize LGBTQ, first-generation immigrants, women and low-income

Comments:

This befits Marxist Trans America, but shouldn't there also be graduation ceremonies for people who were prevented from attending university because of White Supremacy or able-ism? And shouldn't universities allow students to attend for free, given that they're among the biggest peddlers of Marxism, and have huge financial resources at their disposal?

It is at the insistence of blacks that there is also a separate student Union and separate facilities throughout the University system. Almost makes you think that the old southerners knew what they were doing.

How about separate ceremonies for Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims, Asians, etc. Do away with the 'MAIN' ceremony. Classes should be segregated as well.

Back in the day, folks fought over desegregation. Most of the folks who objected did not do so in principle. Most folks were fine going to school with people of other races. What they objected to was the busing. Kids would be on a school bus for an hour one way to get to school when there was a decent school just down the block they could walk to. I mourn the re-segregation of America. It's sad. People just need to learn to get along. Unless something is illegal, learn to tolerate it unless it is causing harm. And be willing to change behavior if you're annoying someone who has legitimate reasons to ask you to do so. Ask: Is this kind? Is it necessary? Am I just being a selfish Adam Henry? Love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus was all about that.

Climate change and rising costs are causing supermarkets in France to run out of dijon mustard, raising questions over whether the shortage could spread to other countries. French mustard producers said seed production in 2021 was down 50% after poor harvests, which they said had been brought on by the changing climate in France’s Burgundy region and Canada, the second largest mustard seed producer in the world. It has caused French supermarket shelves to run empty of the condiment, including in several stores visited by the Guardian. One of France’s largest mustard producers, Reine de Dijon, said the shortages were being driven by climate breakdown.

As a pro-life atheist, I’ve never been more confused. That starts with the fact that Ocasio-Cortez is herself Catholic. Does she consider her own faith “fundamentalist”? I presume she’d say the Church requires its members to be pro-life in their private conduct (isn’t she pro-choice?) but doesn’t require them to enshrine their beliefs in public policy. If that’s the case, I’d politely refer her to today’s news. Beyond that, she seems to be arguing that abortion is some sort of religious right. Conservatives have accused the left for years of treating abortion as a sort of sacrament but it turns out we didn’t know the half of it.
