Did a crack just appear in Vladimir Putin’s domestic standing? One oligarch with his Instagram access still in place blasted Putin’s invasion as a “crazy war,” and refuted the widespread reporting that Russians supported it. Oleg Tinkov, who founded the second-largest credit-card company in Russia, declared that 90% of the country opposed the war — and that Putin knows it:
Wealthy Russian businessman Oleg Tinkov on Tuesday condemned what he called Moscow’s “crazy war” in Ukraine, saying 90% of his countrymen did not support it and calling on the West to offer Vladimir Putin a dignified way to withdraw.

Interesting.
FTA:
"He said Russian generals are “waking up with a hangover, realized that they had a sh***y army,” adding, “And how could the army be good if everything else in the country is shi** and mired in nepotism, sycophancy and servility?”
I don't pretend to know what "the average Russian" thinks about this war. I have a number of folks that I could contact, but 1) I wouldn't want to put them in a bad position even asking their position on Putin and 2) frankly, I would doubt that even if they despised the war, they would say so in an email to an American that will certainly be read by the FSB.
Perhaps the "out" for Russia is for Vlad to have an "accident", like so many other Russian leaders before him, for example Czar Nicholas II, or Trotsky. Or perhaps Ceaușescu of Romania.

The more the enemedia wants me to hate Putin, the less inclined I am to make them happy. At least Russia has a leader who knows who he is, where he is, and what year it is.

Would not shock me. The myth of the post Cold War USSR is finally toast despite the Neocon desire to foment perpetual war. Most of the Russian people are just trying to put 3 squares on the table, God love them. Their poor boys are the ones dying.

Vlad is undeserving of any "face-saving". His only honorable "out" is Hara-Kiri.

Putin really stepped in it and now he wants the stink to disappear but won’t do what needs to be done to make that happen. If he is a halfway decent leader, he should initiate a discussion with Zelensky. I doubt he will do that but if we had a world leader who understood the situation and would lead, he may be able to convince both parties that it is the best way forward. This mess, the death and destruction is a direct result of America’s failure to lead. I honestly doubt that President Trump would have sat on his hands whining for the weeks and months running up to the time when Putin took action. There was ample time to initiate a conversation. Biden had neither the courage or insight that was needed to intervene. Now with Putin’s back against the wall, public opinion turned against him, and the only option he feels he has now is to double down on the violence, we are assured of more death and destruction. If as the democrats boast, the adults are in charge, God help us. Joe Biden has, once again, shown his utter incompetence to the entire world.

Let's do a makeover for Joe so he could pass for Hitler, ship him to Ukraine and let Putin capture him single handedly by charging in shirtless on horseback. Putin saved the world from a Nazi uprising, we rid ourselves of Biden and Ukraine can now be left alone. The ultimate win win win. Except for that Kamala part.

I don't believe that "90%" of Russians oppose the war. I think it's more like 50%. Putin is still very popular, and the Russian press is pure pro-war propaganda. The Russians want to believe they are saving the Ukraine from "Nazis," so they'll believe it. That said, at this point, Putin would be happy to accept the solidification of the stolen Eastern provinces and the land bridge to stolen Crimea. If he can get acceptance from the West for that, and have the sanctions eliminated, he'd call it a major victory. Problem is, what sort of justice would that be for the Ukrainians who have lost so many and had their country destroyed?

Putin’s Russia isn’t going anywhere. They’re in Ukraine to stay. I’m sure this CC dude is losing millions. Wonder if law allows them to collect 18% on an overlooked statement? (Plus penalty)

Well, come on, all of you big strong men. Uncle Sam needs your help again. He got himself in a terrible jam, way down yonder in Vietnam; put down your books and pick up a gun; we're gonna have a whole lotta fun. --Country Joe and the Fish, 1967
Homes where I walk that once sported Biden-Harris lawn signs are now displaying Yellow & Blue Ukrainian flags. So far, Bidet's body count is only 13 KIAs in Afghanistan. Maybe their boy Obiden will catch up with LBJ. --MAGA

Trump should nominate himself as the ultimate peace negotiator, go over to Russia and Ukraine and negotiate a big time peace deal between those two warring countries, that would amount to an “out” for both Putin and Zelensky. Then let “Pop” Biden top that accomplishment before the 2024 general election comes along.

Putin is a dictator. He does not care what the Russian people think. Russia has always been run by dictators and ruled at the point of a gun. How will Putin handle this Oligarch? The Oligarch will suddenly become very sick or just disappear. Perhaps they are already in hiding.
Maybe Putin will just declare 'victory' and go home. Personally hope the war ends in a stalemate with no clear victor. Global political games are being played with people's lives and nobody should benefit from this.
Have to imagine Putin is constantly looking over his shoulder and changing his whereabouts at this point. The biggest threat he faces is from his own military, and he knows it. He will blame the West, but he knows the truth.

Russia has always had a shi*** military. Back in the day, a drive from Checkpoint Alpha to Bravo in Berlin would have been all the proof needed to know that. The Autobahn was invariably decorated with broken-down Soviet military vehicles. The Soviet guards at the borders were only interested in trading for cigarettes, chocolate, or whatever you had to offer. The nation as never had a fearsome naval fleet. Its only notable engagement was a whopping defeat that some identify as the beginning of the end for Nicky and his family.
And while we focus on the shiny object we've been trained to fear, China is out investing in other countries, in effect buying them through their Belt and Road Initiative for a fraction of the cost of the US military and its adventures in nation-building and saving democracy in places like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The new Panama Canal is a fine example of how the Chinese do it through commercial ventures, not military muscle.

I don't believe our US military is all that hot at this point either. The gung-ho, patriotic soldiers look up and see a cadre of wimpy generals commanded by Thoroughly Modern Milley, complete with critical race theory indoctrination and free sex-change surgeries for sexually-confused enlistees.

Putin is A puzzle, wrapped in an enigma…
Putin will get what he wants and won’t settle for less. He wants a corridor to the sea, relief for Russian ethnics who are getting slaughtered by Nazi Ukrainian militia soldiers. We are sending billions in weapons and this is doing more harm than good and instead, we should send humanitarian aid for refugees. We don’t want to turn Ukraine into Afghanistan. It’s not our affair a we should let Putin play out his hand. It’s not worth American lives or cash to help Ukraine.

You people may have seen the movie Fort Apache.
I have seen it, and think of Henry Fonda's exit in the film when I read articles like this.
Like Fonda, Putin has just one honorable way to exit. That should scare everyone.
And if we had an intelligence operation that was competent, Putin could find himself staring at a drone as it descended.
Fortunately for him, our intelligence operation is not capable of locating him. And if they somehow proved me wrong, Dementia Jo would not pull the trigger.
