Harvard University President Lawrence Bacow announced Tuesday that the university will spend $100 million to study and redress its ties to slavery.
The funds will be put toward a “Legacy of Slavery Fund” to continue researching and memorializing the history, in part by working with descendants of black and Native American people enslaved at Harvard and their broader communities. The announcement follows the release of a report from the Presidential Initiative on Harvard & the Legacy of Slavery project, which Bacow commissioned in 2019.
“Harvard benefited from and in some ways perpetuated practices that were profoundly immoral,” Bacow said in an email to the university’s students, faculty and staff members obtained

Is that all? That’s nothing! All employees should disgorge all salaries earned. All graduates should contribute their last four years of earnings. All to a fund to be administered by bill and hillary clitton, ‘cause they ain’t no kinda tired of money.

It would be a lot cheaper for Harvard to fire University President Lawrence Bacow. Why not fire him anyway and replace him with a bLACK person?

Money would be better spent to lower tuition.

Harvard University endowment value - $52 billion.
Disgusting fascists. Give it all away and I’ll believe you’re sincere in your regret. Keep it all, and it only proves what is obvious to anyone who cares to look.

sounds like a plot to line the pockets of al sharpton and jesse jackson(anyone seen or heard from him in a whaile?) = don't understand the premise of this because Harvard was in the middle of the anti-slavery movement back then but if you want to count all the "domestic"(ie: black) help who worked in the homes of the anti-slavery advocates, maybe that's what they're talking about ... and .. there were plenty of them

Harvard has enough money in it's endowment fund that all future students could attend tuition-free including room, board and books. Even doing that, the fund would increase in size. Harvard wants equality, that would be the way to achieve it.

Good, they can pay for all of us and the things we had nothing to do with.

So? And will anybody other than the black "leaders" whose "non-profits" will reap the windfall of Harvard's penance payouts realize any improvement in their situation? Will the black-on-black crime rate drop? Will black graduation rates improve? Will there be a drop in the number of unwed mothers who are cranking out babies from multiple fathers?
My guess is No.

Clearly the only workable solution is to fire all the staff and burn the buildings to the ground and convert all the liquid assets to cash burn that in a huge bonfire.

They can take all that money they're spending on the study and open a whole new University exclusively for the victims of slavery. Of course that might not make anyone happy because it would solve the problem.

A lot of "other people's money"... No one who decided this will have to pay a penny of it. In fact, they will get to swim in the cash flow. And in the end $100 Million will buy nothing. Commit fraud and corruption and brag about it... like Joe did when he got his boy's prosecutor fired in Ukraine. Take a bow...

Harvard should first come clean on how it discriminates against hard working, deserving Asian applicants.

Harvard, we all know that you have the largest endowment of all universities in the world, $53,000,000,000, that's BILLIONS, and that you have a highly paid fund manager looking over it. That $100,000,000 out of that reserve would be better spent on cutting tuition in HALF at a minimum or even totally, instead of virtue signalling over truly nothing that any sentient person cares about. Every university is greedy and spending all that obscene cash on fancy buildings and useless administrators like Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity! It's high time to tax these SOB's into oblivion and restore some reality to the true cost of an education.

All of that cash will accomplish absolutely nothing other than lining the pockets of certain people. But while they’re at it, they should go after Yale too. It was founded by a slave trader.

Big Whoop. That's like saying you make $50,000 and you're going to toss a $10 bill in the the collection plate at church all year. And even Bigger Whoop. It ain't the Harvard President's own money, it's the university's stash.

Easy solution. The Trustees and Faculty of Harvard University dissolve the institution, and in so doing, appoint Black Lives Matter as agents charged with distributing the former endowment and physical plant to Darktown USA. Award degrees to all existing enrolled students.
Then move on to Yale.

Should be free tuition for any/all who claim to have descended from slavery regardless of whether they meet the high academic standards.

I just heard about the "Harvard Number." A $5 million donation will get a qualified candidate in, $10 million for an unqualified one. I pass through Harvard Yard pretty much on a daily basis (and by Bacow's office). Even though Harvard discriminates against Asians, who have sued, citing low "personality" scores to keep them from utterly dominating the admissions process (much like they did with Jews in the 40's) they are ubiquitous on campus, and I mean Chinese nationals. MIT has hired a guy I met recently whose job is to ferret out Chinese nationals who are spying/stealing technology from the Institute. Too little too late?
Charles Murray in The Bell Curve noted that the Ivies give black (and maybe other minorities) a 200 point handicap on their SATs... so the many blacks on campus probably have SATs in the 500s. Nice. All I ask is they don't apply to medical school.

I predict Haavaad will need a new building, at least a 5-story high pile of bricks, in which to house all the employees they plan to hire to staff the new department. Company cars, too, of BMW class or above.

Hypocrites… I’d study it for them for $99 million, but my (honest) conclusions wouldn’t make them feel as good (bad).
