“Jail awaits me,” the pastor of a fugitive Chinese church wrote over an encrypted messaging service. “They’ve accused me of subversion of state power.” Although the 60 religious refugees of the Shenzhen Holy Reformed Church found sanctuary on South Korea’s Jeju Island in 2019, now the renegade congregation faces imminent deportation back to Communist China after repeated asylum requests have been denied by the left-wing government of South Korea. (Snip) “The Communist Party is the enemy of all cultures and morals,” said Pastor Pan. “This has been proven by history for over one hundred years and is the consensus of mankind."

It's easy for us, who can sit on padded pews in thermostatically controlled churches, or even sit in our pajamas and worship online, to not even think about our struggling brothers and sisters in other parts of the world who do not have this freedom we have. This article is well worth reading. Pray for our fellow Christians! It was particularly interesting to me that over 400 pastors signed their actual names to a document calling on Xi Xinping to repent and accept Christ. Of course, this is only by the power of the Holy Spirit, but it's an example of people boldly praying for their enemies.

Well. Wasn’t that enlightening…. I had no idea the politics of South Korea had taken such a turn away from Christianity and freedom. And it seems the CCP has stepped up persecution, if, in fact, persecution had even slowed down. And we have Ten Percent Joe in bed with the CCP. Perilous times. Thank you, OP, for posting.

Very disturbing! This persecution is just starting in America! Jesus warned that the world hated Him and we should expect the same! I’m old but I would hate to be in my 40’s! It’s going to get really nasty!

Very disappointed with South Korea right now. Very Disappointed. I take comfort in the reality that God is watching all that is going on on this planet and He will be responding. Going to be very interesting to see the reactions from those Leftists who refuse to acknowledge God when He starts making Himself known.

I read this article with a bittersweet feeling. Our 11-yr-old son Leland was baptized yesterday as a Christian. We brought him home from China in 2015 when he was almost five years old. While in China during our 19-day trip we were hosted and escorted by Christians who took us to a Sunday service in a church so full that speakers were set up in the courtyard so fellow Christians could hear the service and people were periodically rotated into and out of church. We were allowed to stay inside for the entire service. The preacher gave his sermon in Chinese, stopping every two or three sentences so the interpreter would translate in English. The people who treated us the nicest during our stay in China were all Christian. Courageous brothers and sisters in Christ with a depth of faith I don't even know if I could ever muster if I were in their shoes.

Kevin uses one word to describe the first days of the protests in downtown Ottawa: torture. "Literally there was trucks right underneath me," said Kevin, "It was one thing for me, but I've got animals. I've got three cats, two dogs. So yeah, it was torture." (Snip) The trucks have since been removed, with police pushing the majority of protesters outside of the downtown core over the Family Day long weekend. Even still, some downtown residents say they're haunted by "phantom honking" — what sounds like blaring truck horns, but no actual sounds are there.

Nearly eight-in-ten Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents (78%) say they have “a lot” or “some” trust in the information that comes from national news organizations – 43 percentage points higher than Republicans and Republican leaners (35%) – according to a new Pew Research Center survey conducted June 14-27, 2021.

The White House on Sunday rejected the argument that increasing domestic oil production would help lower gas prices, as the cost of oil moves toward record highs. Crude oil prices rose as high as $130.50 a barrel on Sunday evening. White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a set of talking points on social media, arguing against a focus on boosting oil production in the United States. “It’s a reminder that real energy security comes from reducing our dependence on fossil fuels,” Psaki wrote, noting that Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine was causing a spike in oil prices. Psaki pushed back against Republicans calling for more domestic oil production.
