The Department of Education has allocated well over a quarter billion dollars to cover gaping school budget deficits tied to ongoing student enrollment declines, The Post has learned. The DOE will give city public schools a total of $323 million dollars this year to help them cover basic costs—including teacher salaries, according to a memo released last week.(Snip)“There are a lot of schools that have lost entire chunks of their enrollment,” said a DOE source. “That means a lot less money for the principal. President Joe Biden's administration has requested an additional $30 billion more in COVID funding to go toward the pandemic response.
Axios first reported the figure, which was brought up in a call between members of the Department of Health & Human Services and Congressional staff, adding that members of both political parties are skeptical of the amount with surging inflation and a ballooning national deficit. 'HHS's briefing today or this afternoon was a part of our regular conversations with Congress about various resources and needs including what is needed for COVID response,' White House press secretary Jen Psaki said when asked about the $30 billion figure at Tuesday's briefing.

And this matters more for 2024 than it might for 2022. The latest Mason-Dixon poll puts Ron DeSantis in the catbird seat for his gubernatorial re-election, putting him in the lead well past the margin of error against all Democratic challengers. Only former governor Charlie Crist gets within single digits of DeSantis in this poll, and Democrats’ main attack point hasn’t registered with Florida voters at all:
When matched up against his current potential Democratic challengers, DeSantis receives the support of slightly over half of Florida’s voters and his leads provide a decent cushion at this point in the race.

Nancy Pelosi said, "We think that an assault on Ukraine is an assault on democracy."
No, having one of your Palace Guards kill an unarmed protester in cold blood is a real threat to our constitutional republic.
She also said, "We understand the loss of life, the damage, the collateral damage to civilians, to military and the rest are severe if he decides to invade."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invoked the Emergency Powers Act against the Freedom Convoy, and as PJM’s Paula Bolyard noted, “Among other things, the Canadian government will freeze the assets of truck owners participating in the protests and cancel their insurance policies.” Since the protests have not been violent, as Trudeau claimed, his action amounts to a clampdown on political dissent itself and a serious strike at the very possibility of standing up to a tyrannical government.
If we had a President of the United States right now who was worthy of the name, he (or she — yes, it could be Tulsi Gabbard) would regard Trudeau’s action

Late yesterday, Michael Sussmann filed a response to John Durham’s Friday court filing that set off a media buzz over the criminal case against the former Hillary Clinton campaign attorney.
In the six-page memo filed in the D.C. federal court, Sussmann’s Latham and Watkins attorneys informed the court they had previously advised the special counsel that Sussman understood his right to consult with independent counsel and intended to waive any potential conflicts of interest. Sussmann’s filing added that he does not oppose Durham’s request that he waive those issues on the record.
Sussmann then spent the next five pages complaining about the special counsel’s filing.

Washington—Federal safety regulators say they will retain power to approve Boeing 787 airliners for flight rather than return that authority to the aircraft maker, which hasn't been able to deliver any new Dreamliner planes since last May because of production flaws. The Federal Aviation Administration said it told Boeing of its decision Tuesday. The FAA said that once deliveries of 787s resume, it will perform final inspections and retain power to clear each new plane until it is confident that Boeing’s quality control and manufacturing “consistently produce 787s that meet FAA design standards.” It also said Boeing must have a plan for handling planes that need reworking.

Laundrie, 23, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head that caused extensive fractures in his skull, according to a newly released report by a Florida medical examiner’s office.
The single bullet entered his brain at the left temple and exited through the right, traveling slightly upward, said the full autopsy and forensic report.

Kash Patel, the former chief of staff to the Acting United States Secretary of Defense, joined Greg Kelly on Monday night to discuss the explosive revelations released this past weekend that the Hillary camp and Democrats were spying on Donald Trump’s campaign and later the Trump White House.
According to Durham, tech expert Donald Joffe and his associates exploited internet data from “the Executive Office of the President of the United States” to further their own political agenda. Durham investigators uncovered evidence that shows Hillary Clinton’s team paid operatives to “infiltrate” the Trump Tower and then President Trump’s White House servers

Lawyers for former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann are furious at Special Counsel John Durham for describing an effort to spy on President Donald Trump while in office — and cited Breitbart News coverage in their response. On Friday, as Breitbart News reported, Durham filed a motion about the defense lawyers’ potential conflict of interest. He also included information about an effort to mine data about cell phone communications around Trump Tower, Trump’s private residence, and the Executive Office of the President in an effort to create a narrative about Russian “collusion”:

Republicans are calling for increased scrutiny on President Joe Biden's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan after the longtime Democratic operative's links to Special Counsel John Durham's investigation were revived in the wake of a bombshell new court filing. Durham's probe into the origins of the Russian investigation moved closer to the White House late last year with a report that Sullivan was the 'foreign policy adviser' mentioned in the indictment of former Hillary Clinton presidential campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann.

With revelations from the Durham special counsel's investigation that the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016 paid tech executives to spy on the Trump campaign, the Trump residence, and then the Trump presidency, many political watchers think significant indictments are probably coming as a result of it. The tech executive, for one, has fired back at Durham, which if nothing else, signals how big of trouble he might be in. John Ratcliffe, President Trump's former Director of National Intelligence, thinks "significant" indictments are coming.

A few days ago, the Houston Rockets traded for Enes Kanter Freedom and subsequently released him. Kanter Freedom has been unapologetically outspoken over China’s human rights abuses as well as the league’s hypocrisy over putting domestic political issues at the forefront of its messaging while turning a blind eye to Chinese labor camps. For taking a political stance, Kanter Freedom was silenced.
Colin Kaepernick was not available for comment.
In recent months, Kanter Freedom has increasingly been a thorn in the side of the NBA, which is increasingly dependent on China for both cheap Nike labor, a sizable audience, and market expansion. In 2019,

President Joe Biden's sliding popularity has caused Democrats in competitive elections this November to distance themselves from their party's standard-bearer.
But Biden's approval problems could hamstring his own political aspirations, with polls indicating that Democrats would prefer another nominee on the ballot in 2024.
Two polls finding that Democrats support usurping Biden as their party's leader reflect "unhappiness" with the president's job so far, according to Democratic strategist Stefan Hankin.

In May 2021, I wrote an article titled Carville, Axelrod Deliver Blunt Message to ‘Smug,’ ‘Arrogant’ Dems — They’ll Totally Ignore It, in which I said the following:
Today’s Democrat Party isn’t even the Democrat Party of former Clinton official James Carville and former Obama official David Axelrod, anymore. And no one knows that better than Carville and Axelrod, themselves — and they’re not happy about it.
“Axe” and the “Ragin’ Cajun” teed off on the Democrat Party during a joint appearance on CNN’s “Fredo Cuomo Prime Time” on Wednesday to deliver a blunt message to their party:

With the entire Russiagate affair exposed as a Clinton campaign fabrication, it’s the clear duty of The Washington Post and New York Times to give back the Pulitzers they won for “reporting” the fake news. Clinton campaign cash ordered up the “Steele dossier,” with Democratic operatives providing some of the rumors and a cynical Russian exile asking buddies to supply rank speculation for the rest. Other Clintonites actually hacked Trump computers, including White House ones after he took office, to create another smear, as Special Counsel John Durham’s latest filing revealed.

Waukesha parade massacre suspect Darrell Brooks has pled “not guilty” to killing six people and wounding dozens of others when he allegedly plowed an SUV through crowds of Christmas parade attendees in November of last year.
“We’d waive formal reading, and we can enter pleas of not guilty this morning,” Brooks’ defense attorney Jeremy Perri said last Friday. Brooks’ attorney also requested for a change of venue or for jurors to be sequestered and selected from another county, arguing that the intensity of the parade coverage has already turned the city of Waukesha against him.

Multiple events hosted by conservative groups have been flooded with fake registrations across the country, including one at an Ivy League school hosted by a prominent student organization that engages in activism for conservative causes. (Snip)
However, for some conservative groups, a tsunami of spam registrations made accomplishing that difficult, and the difficulty was compounded by slow or non-existent responses from the company. In addition, the Daily Caller News Foundation found that it was easy to make a fake registration for events on Eventbrite, even if the email address was already linked to an Eventbrite account.
The targeted events included a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event in New Hampshire

If the world seems stranger than normal, Victor Davis Hanson has an explanation. Ideology, he argues, is the ancient enemy of civilization. It makes people, even politicians, do crazy things. “What ultimately destroyed the evil empires of Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia were bankrupt dogmas. Crackpot ideology destroyed free expression. It ruined meritocracy and ensured unequal application of the laws – and so paved the way for far worse. The Nazi idea of a superior Aryan race adjudicated everything from physics to tank design. Soviet commissars did the same, subordinating rational thought to communist agendas. Zealots in both systems infiltrated the universities and schools to institutionalize indoctrination. Wokeism,

A new ad from 34N22, a pro Herschel Walker Super PAC in Georgia is targeting Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) in a rather clever way, by using his own words against him. The entirety of the one minute ad from 34N22 uses the script from a Warnock re-election ad. While Warnock's ad touts his role as a pastor, it also claims "I see you, I hear you, I am you." The reality, though, as expressed in the 34N22 ad, is that Warnock is doing anything but. Townhall received an exclusive look at the ad. As Warnock's voice acknowledges that "people are hurting, people are tired,"

It’s easy to imagine that most Republican voters approved of former Vice President Mike Pence. They must have appreciated his loyalty to a president very different than himself. At times, Mike seemed the perfect V.P. But when it came to what was his most important responsibility as President of the Senate, Pence did not rise to the occasion, which was the certification of the 2020 presidential election on January 6, 2021.On February 4, New York Post ran “Mike Pence says Trump ‘wrong’ about ‘un-American’ idea to overturn election” that reported on an event held that very day: “I heard this week that President Trump said

Russia says some troops are being withdrawn from the Ukraine border and sent back to their home bases in what could be the first sign of a climbdown by Putin - or another of the strongman's deceptions ahead of an attack.Moscow's defence ministry said today that units of the Southern and Western military command - which covers occupied Crimea and the Ukraine border region - are being loaded on to rail and road transports and moved away having 'completed their tasks' after training drills.
But that message stands at stark odds with briefings out of Washington overnight that Russian troops are actually being moved closer to the border -

Ever since President Trump came down the golden escalators to announce his candidacy for president of the United States, many professional and even casual observers of politics and history have wondered just what was going on in the events that followed. (snip) Now it is clear for all to see, the Deep State was running a coup against Donald Trump. A coup against candidate Trump. A coup against President-elect Trump. And a coup against President Trump while in office. The Deep State, including the Fourth Branch of government (the intelligence apparatus), went after Trump from the moment he came down the escalators

If we’ve learned anything from the inhabitants of Planet Looney Tunes over the last couple of years, it is this: Anything and everything the left doesn’t like is racist, misogynistic, or worse.
And by “racist,” we’re talking systemic racism — which is tied to white supremacy and the ridiculous notion that all white people — at birth, solely because of the color of their skin — are inherently racist, and for which, they must atone by living proactively anti-racist lives.
And, as if we haven’t laughed at these people enough, they now tell us that eating meat is “all of the above.”

Last week, two memes started in response to Justin Trudeau’s authoritarianism. Let’s Go Brandeau! is a thing now. It’s a brilliant frozen-north variation of Let’s Go Brandon. The second was the tongue-in-cheek claim that Justin Trudeau is the illegitimate love-child of Fidel Castro. AP and The New York Times refuted this claim. I don’t know which is funnier, the meme or the fact-checking clowns at AP and NYT.In any event, on Monday, Trudeau channeled his inner Castro and invoked emergency powers. He’s shutting down protests that don’t align with his autocratic, authoritarian mandates.

A technology expert shot back at special counsel John Durham in response to claims that he "exploited" access to internet traffic to build a narrative of collusion between former President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and Russia. As Trump and his allies argue that Durham has found a "far bigger crime" than what happened in the Watergate scandal, “Technology Executive-1," known to be former Neustar Senior Vice President Rodney Joffe, issued a statement via a representative to combat the "allegations" made in the special counsel's recent court filing.

The White House on Monday refused to be drawn into the growing controversy over claims that Hillary Clinton's allies tried to smear Donald Trump, and whether internet data collection amounted to spying. Three times Joe Biden's principal deputy press secretary was asked whether the president had any concerns about campaigns hacking into opponents' computer systems to gather dirt. And three times during the White House daily briefing Karine Jean-Pierre referred all questions to the Department of Justice.

The Biden administration doesn’t want a judge to release a report on Dominion Voting Systems equipment in Georgia, claiming that doing so would “threaten election security,” Just The News reports.
The report was written by the Director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, J. Alex Halderman. Halderman was previously profiled in a video by the New York Times back in 2018 when he demonstrated to a group of students how easy it would be to rig a voting machine.
In the 2018 video, Halderman demonstrated how voting machines are “dangerous” and “obsolete” by holding a mock election with University of Michigan students.
