How bad are things for the Democrat Party heading into the November mid-terms? Things are so bad that even the DCCC’s internal polling is now showing a coming wipe-out.
According to Politico, a Democrat recent survey of swing districts showed the GOP with between a four and 14 point advantage (supposedly depending on how Democrats message) on the generic ballot. To be frank, if that’s what the internal polling is showing, it’s much, much worse than that in reality.
Yet, what makes this all so hilarious is what the consultants are telling the Democrats to do in order to fix the hole they are currently in.

San Francisco residents overwhelmingly voted to oust three of the city’s progressive school-board members on Tuesday. It was the culmination of a year-long effort to reform the board, which has been accused of prioritizing social-justice politics over reopening schools and managing the district’s troubled finances during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Returns started coming in around 9 p.m. in California, showing that more than 70 percent of voters supported recalling each of the three candidates: 79 percent voted to recall board member Alison Collins, 75 percent voted to recall board president Gabriela López, and 73 percent voted to recall board member Faauuga Moliga.

And this matters more for 2024 than it might for 2022. The latest Mason-Dixon poll puts Ron DeSantis in the catbird seat for his gubernatorial re-election, putting him in the lead well past the margin of error against all Democratic challengers. Only former governor Charlie Crist gets within single digits of DeSantis in this poll, and Democrats’ main attack point hasn’t registered with Florida voters at all:
When matched up against his current potential Democratic challengers, DeSantis receives the support of slightly over half of Florida’s voters and his leads provide a decent cushion at this point in the race.

Last Wednesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom said changes to the state’s school mask mandate would be coming soon. The state’s indoor mask mandate for the vaccinated ends Tuesday and the expectation reported at several news sites was that a change to the school policy would be announced today. But today came and instead of announcing a change, Newsome sent California’s HHS Secretary out to issue a two week delay:
While many Californians will be able to remove masks in most indoor settings starting Tuesday, schoolchildren and teachers will have to wait. Newsom had flagged Monday as the day to watch for a revision regarding schools, then

As RedState reported, John Durham dropped an absolute bombshell of a filing on Saturday detailing Hillary Clinton’s spying against Donald Trump. Allies of the DNC used a sensitive government arrangement that was started under Barack Obama’s tenure to then target the DNS traffic of Trump. The purpose of that was to try to prove a nefarious connection with Russia, with the information being passed back to the DNC and Clinton.
That scheme bolstered now-debunked tweets like this from the failed 2016 presidential nominee. Yet, one of the most shocking parts of the filing was the fact that the spying continued after Trump was inaugurated — which begs the question of why?

The new Lord of the Rings show to be released by Amazon has faced unrelenting criticism and it hasn’t even been released yet.
But the criticism isn’t undeserved. This isn’t a bunch of Tolkien fanatics gatekeeping the classic work with unreasonable expectations and setting unfair standards. People involved with the project have made it clear that social justice was a focus within the show and that Amazon was taking liberties with characters, races, and more in order for the show to be more modern.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in an unprecedented action, announced on Monday that he is invoking the never-before-used Emergencies Act to try and put a stop to the Freedom Convoys that have shut down traffic—and much of the commerce—in Canada. The truckers, protesting vaccine mandates, have clogged roads, leading to chaos on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border. Among other actions, the Canadian government will freeze the assets of truck owners participating in the protests and suspend their insurance policies. In addition, the prime minister said that, under the Emergencies Act, the government will have the power to “compel” tow-truck drivers to remove rigs blocking roads,

A little earlier today, my colleague Nick Arama posted on a Washington Post editorial about the futility of mask mandates, see WaPo Finally Says It: ‘Mask Mandates Didn’t Make Much of a Difference Anyway’ If this sounds a little strange given the fights raging across the nation, and the so-called Western world, about mask mandates, it should. In fact, it should seem strange even by the standards of the Washington Post editorial section that published the story. How does the Washington Post story fit in here?
The hallmark of the so-called public health information associated with COVID, going back to the earliest days of the “pandemic,” professed a certainty

Mayor Muriel Bowser is revoking the vaccine requirement for indoor businesses in Washington, D.C., effective Tuesday, she announced on Monday.
The city’s mask mandate for indoor spaces will also be “dialed back” starting March 1, said Bowser. While masks will not be required at restaurants, entertainment venues, churches, grocery stores, or other, similar venues, they will still be required in schools after that date.
The update from the mayor’s office does not specify whether the vaccine mandate for K-12 school children,

Windsor, Ontario — The busiest U.S.-Canada border crossing reopened late Sunday after protests against COVID-19 restrictions closed it for almost a week, while Canadian officials held back from a crackdown on a larger protest in the capital, Ottawa.
Detroit International Bridge Co. said in a statement that “the Ambassador Bridge is now fully open allowing the free flow of commerce between the Canada and US economies once again.” Esther Jentzen, spokeswoman for the company, said in a later text to The Associated Press that the bridge reopened to traffic at 11 p.m. EST.
The crossing normally carries 25% of all trade between the two countries,

There’s a vibrant, exciting music scene happening in New York City — and newly elected mayor Eric Adams isn’t happy about it.
In remarks to members of the press Friday, Adams expressed concerns about drill rap, the musical subgenre that has flourished in his home borough of Brooklyn over the past half-decade. He characterized the music as “alarming,” linking it to gun violence, and appeared to put further blame on social media companies.
“We pulled Trump off Twitter,” Adams said. “Yet we are allowing music, displaying of guns, violence.
