Dover, Del.—A Delaware lawmaker who came under fire last year for using a racist and sexist slur to refer to sex workers was arrested on shoplifting charges Tuesday, just days after announcing that he was resigning for health reasons. Newark police said a warrant was issued Tuesday for Rep. Gerald Brady’s arrest on two counts of shoplifting, and that Brady, 65, turned himself in a few hours later. He was released on his own recognizance. House Democrats announced last Friday that Brady was resigning effective Feb. 4, but they did not disclose that he was under criminal investigation.(Snip)Brady, who is executive director of the Delaware AFL-CIO,

Comments:

If you're a Democrat, you can be a state representative and also be a labor union leader. Definitely uncouth of a politician to impugn the good name of Chinese sex workers who are shipped here on container ships, though; that's The Free Market at work.

Dr Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, issued a warning Wednesday that it is too early to consider Covid 'controlled' in the U.S. During a Covid briefing Wednesday, the director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Disease warned that the current Covid situation is not as optimistic as some officials and experts are saying.(Snip)He also mentioned that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for young children—which he believes could be available soon—will require three doses of the shot instead of the standard two dose regimen. Shoplifters are so unconcerned with being arrested in the city that one of them stopped to chat with The Post after ransacking a Manhattan drug store—which is closing for good because of the out-of-control crime scourge. The Rite Aid at the corner of 8th Avenue and 50th Street in Hell’s Kitchen will close Feb. 8 because of the rampant pilfering, said store sources who claim thieves have ripped off more than $200,000 worth of merchandise in the past two months alone. A Post reporter followed one brazen thief at the store last week, watching him load four cases of beer into an oversize canvas bag

Washington—Republicans’ faith in science is falling as Democrats rely on it even more, with a trust gap in science and medicine widening substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, new survey data shows. It’s the largest gap in nearly five decades of polling by the General Social Survey, a widely respected trend survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago that has been measuring confidence in institutions since 1972. That is unsurprising to more than a dozen scientists reached for comment by The Associated Press, but it concerns many of them. Science used to be something all Americans would get behind, Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley said.

House Republicans are demanding transparency from the Biden administration about how it is spending more than $1.2 trillion in infrastructure funding that Congress approved last year. Top GOP lawmakers on the House Transporation and Infrastructure Committee said more clarity is needed given the size of the public works package and the “byzantine” bureaucracies responsible for its implementation. The Biden administration’s decision to appoint Mitch Landrieu as its unelected, unconfirmed “infrastructure czar” has done little to allay concerns, they said.(Snip)Mr. Landrieu, a Democrat and former mayor of New Orleans, was tapped as the White House’s “infrastructure czar” in November 2021.
