An 80-tonne shipment of US anti-tank missiles has arrived in Ukraine—just the latest delivery of high-tech weapons aimed at inflicting maximum death and destruction on Putin's forces if he decides to invade. A plane loaded with 300 Javelin missiles worth some $50million landed in capital Kiev late Tuesday, the third part of a $200million shipment of American military aid that is being sent to help its ally. The shipment also contained grenade launchers, as well as ammunition and other non-lethal weapons systems, and comes in addition to other anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons already supplied by the UK, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

It would be greatly to our advantage if Russia joined NATO, an organization which talks a lot but never actually fights.

"Non-lethal weapons systems"...What is the purpose of a weapon if not to be lethal? A shield, for example, is not a weapon unless used as one. We don't want anyone hurt too badly...

Well it is going to be sometime before the Ukrainians are trained to effectively use complicated weapons like Javelin missiles, and by that time Russian military action may be pretty much over with the Russians having captured a lot of those missiles.

I've been hoping that we would give the Ukrainians some good anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles. Those can give an armored column with helo cover a REAL heartburn....with flames and all. Finally, a REAL deterrent. If you are going to attack someone with only rifles with a tank force you feel pretty safe. But if they have good, modern anti-tank weapons, suddenly those tanks are just big, slow moving targets. This will actually cause some recalculation on the Russian side. 300 antitank missiles could result in 200+ burning Russian tanks. That puts a hell of a dent in an invasion.

President Joe Biden reportedly told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday to brace his country for a certain Russian invasion. Biden told Zelensky that an invasion is virtually certain and to 'prepare for impact,' CNN reported. He said Kiev could be 'sacked' by Russian forces. He reportedly said Ukraine would not be getting significantly more military help, including reiterating that no U.S. troops would be deployed there, nor would there be preemptive sanctions on Russia or any progress with NATO. The warning was not part of a White House readout provided after the call. The two world leaders conversed on the phone as the Department of Defense was issuing

Washington—Republicans’ faith in science is falling as Democrats rely on it even more, with a trust gap in science and medicine widening substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, new survey data shows. It’s the largest gap in nearly five decades of polling by the General Social Survey, a widely respected trend survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago that has been measuring confidence in institutions since 1972. That is unsurprising to more than a dozen scientists reached for comment by The Associated Press, but it concerns many of them. Science used to be something all Americans would get behind, Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley said.
