Americans’ trust in science now deeply
polarized, poll shows

Washington—Republicans’ faith in science is falling as Democrats rely on it even more, with a trust gap in science and medicine widening substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, new survey data shows. It’s the largest gap in nearly five decades of polling by the General Social Survey, a widely respected trend survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago that has been measuring confidence in institutions since 1972. That is unsurprising to more than a dozen scientists reached for comment by The Associated Press, but it concerns many of them. Science used to be something all Americans would get behind, Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley said.

Comments:

Democrats like being told what to think, just like the comfortable days when mommy would say, "Because I said so, that's why." Now we have "Because it's The Science," but some of us aren't playing along, and will need prodding to follow the path of government-approved righteousness.

Lie to us about "climate change" for decades and now two years of massive lying about the Wuhan virus, and killing people by denying safe, cheap and effective early treatment. You can fool all of the people some of the time. That time has ended, and now you are fooling some of the people ....and fewer are being fooled. What they say about Wuhan virus and global warming is NOT "science", it's pure politics, pretending to be science and warping, twisting, bribing "science" to get political power.

Conservatives have always been more skeptical of purveyors of "truth" than liberals. People that have lived a while longer have painful memories of their youth when they bought into this or that fad or followed this or that guru. A conservative is a liberal that has been mugged. What the left wants is not critical thinking by conservatives but compliance with their authority. Reasonable people, equally informed, will usually reach similar conclusions. But when you realize from bitter experience that people are trying to "gaslight" you and turn you into a slave, you eventually fight back. That is where we are today.

The Covid virus and Global Warming crowd have given the term Political Science and entirely new meaning. Where Politics and Science used to be two different things, they have now merged into the now perverted Political Science, that is science that has become politicized and tailored to meet the political objectives of those in power in order to maintain their power. By perverting the use of science for political means, people no longer believe politicians or scientists when discussing controversial issues like global warming or Covid vaccinations.

On the contrary, AssPress, we conservatives are the ones who continue to practice (NOT "believe in") real science...as in using the Scientific Method, gathering rigorous data and fully analyzing it, welcoming and requiring discussion and challenges to conclusions and assertions, etc. It's the media and Democrats (redundant, I know) that demand unquestioning "belief" to authority, not real science.

Authority, is not the same as Science. We've had expert after expert talking about COVID, Anthropomorphic Global Warming, and on these subjects we've also seen government approved censorship of 'unpopular' rebuttals. Science, is not censorship. Science requires rebuttal and argument, but never Censorship. If Republicans dustrust "Science" it is because "Science" has failed to follow the rules of order. Brute force does not make truth.

The communists have created a new religion called Covid. Since you can’t see it we are fighting over its existence just like religious discussion. Those who believe take the communion of vaccine and those who do not are verbally condemned to hell by the believers. The main stream media and government are the clergy trying to convert everyone to their beliefs. The wise ones who have strong scientific proof of the fallacy of this Covid religion are banned from speaking to the masses. It’s a vicious circle and I’m hoping more people will see the light and end this madness!

Science such as biology, physics, etc. has been transformed into Lysenko Science, the science of politics. Ignorance of real science, like the biological difference between male and female species, is the doom of civilization. America is well on its way to the dustbin of history by adopting "Lysenko Science". Trofim Lysenko was responsible for the starvation of millions of Ukranians. For something to be "science", you have to be free to question it and debate it. During this whole stupid Covid pandemic, we have been told that it is all "science", and that if we question it or have disagreements with it based on logic, reason, or facts, we are crucified, called every name in the book, and ostracized to the point of loosing our livelihoods!!!! That is not "science", it is lie-beral fascism!!!! Republicans have no problem with real science!!! We have a huge problem with all the so-called "science" that lie-berals keep trying to shove down our throats (see multiple and changeable genders, global warming, etc). FJB!!!

#21, I AM a PhD microbiologist. I am also ashamed at the loss of integrity among scientists. It is all about grants, funding, advancement. The present lack of integrity (Covid-related) is stoked by the pharma industry, especially Pfizer. Follow the money. We must be able to expose the money trails of those having influence over the government's Covid policies. We must expose the US government-sanctioned and UN coverup of the gain-of-function research at Wuhan. It was either an accidental leak or deliberate. Once the virus was out, Wuhan was locked down locally by force, yet international airport travel continued. We must expose the CCP's role in the pandemic and act appropriately in our national (not Brandon's or Hunter's) interests.

Amazing since most of the democrats who grew up in the 60''s and 70's didn't trust the government. What they now want is to have one narrative, and that will be considered to be the truth, with anything else being labeled misinformation.

In the early 2000s, I needed to begin regularly traveling to central and south central Asia, where there are many diseases that are endemic that are not common in the USA. So, I went to the CDC web site, and looked at what they recommended for the places I would be going. And I got about 6 or 8 new vaccinations for yellow fever, and various other things. At this point, I wouldn't believe CDC if they told me the sun rises in the east. And never an anti-vaccine person before, but I'll be damned if I'll take their shots.

Penzey's Spices, the Milwaukee-based company that held "Republicans are Racist Weekend" sale on Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend earlier this month, is now dealing with a massive loss of customers and is now all but begging for new business. "After starting the year with All Republicans are Republicans and following up with Republicans are Racists we’ve set a nice little Boycott Penzeys! surge in motion," Penzey's CEO Bill Penzey said in an email to customers Friday. "It certainly wasn’t unexpected, but if it’s within your means, you picking up a small stack of Gift Cards would help."

Interrupting a campaign speech certainly doesn't seem like a way to get an invite into the White House, but that's exactly what a two-year-old short-haired tabby has managed to do. A green-eyed, gray and white farm cat made quite the impression on Jill Biden after jumping up on stage and interrupting her remarks during a 2020 campaign stop in her home state Pennsylvania. Now, President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden have finally welcomed Willow, after speaking of a long-promised cat, to their pet family.

(Snip) Critics have long argued that standardized tests put minority and low-income students at a disadvantage, in part because of test questions that

Republican State Rep. Nick Freitas of Virginia has had enough of Democrats accusing anyone who opposes them of racism and sexism. During a floor speech this week, he went after Democrats for this and his speech was so amazing that it got applause afterwards. Other Republicans should study this speech. Real Clear Politics provides a partial transcript: NICK FREITAS: I was asked by a colleague of mine on the other side of the aisle, someone I actually deeply respect, and she asked me, was I going to be ‘nice’ this session?

A Los Angeles County judge on Thursday ordered Hannah Tubbs, a transgender California woman, to serve two years in a juvenile facility after she pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in 2014. Before doing so, the judge criticized far-left District Attorney George Gascon, whose office declined to prosecute the repeat offender as an adult. Tubbs, 26, recently pleaded guilty to molesting the girl in a women's bathroom eight years ago when Tubbs was two weeks away from turning 18. At the time of the crime, she identified as male and went by James Tubbs.
