The Problem Is The Ideology: Progressive

Recently I watched an interview of Glenn Loury, a black professor of economics from Brown University, done by Peter Robinson of the Hoover Institution. In it, he makes a remarkable statement quoting his friend Shelby Steele, himself a black English professor who now writes books commenting on current affairs. Loury quotes Steele to the effect that “the problem before [blacks in America] now is not a problem of oppression. It is a problem of freedom. It is a problem of seizing opportunity, the problem of taking responsibility.” It echoed within me as I have been thinking similar thoughts about the problem of freedom,

Comments:

It's remarkable that so many otherwise smart people are all-in on this ideology.

The problem, Sir, is that the society has been ignoring the real God for too long. You are simply lost, and those who are blind and who try to lead the bind will fall into another ditch.

FTA: “...the problem before [blacks in America] now is not a problem of oppression. It is a problem of freedom. It is a problem of seizing opportunity, the problem of taking responsibility.” American Black culture is driven by oppression. It's the reason for whatever happens in The Community...oppression. It is the basis for virtually all political action and "activism", from occasional riots to shootings to smash-and-grab robberies. The "rich" (white) folks owe us. Take away oppression and the subterfuge of "righteousness" collapses. Success in The Community means a never ending demand to "give back". The assurance is that blacks cannot be accepted into "white" society, so don't even try. You are black and had better never forget. Want to restore merit? Cut university attendance by half. Let's not forget, education from K-12 through college is now a huge industry, the largest of all however measured, and largely on the public dime and government-guaranteed debt.

Another worthwhile read from Mr. Nutter. I have yet to read on of his essays that disappoints. To OP's point about 'smart' people being all-in for this ideology...how much are these supposed 'smart' being coerced into it, either by peer shaming or outright physical/economic consequences.

Get ready for a lot of panic but not a lot to panic about as reports show that Omicron, while being the latest variant, is the least threatening of the COVID-19 variants according to reports. According to the New York Times, the variant comes from South Africa where, despite spreading rapidly, seems to have little or no effect on those who contract it. Researchers in Pretoria sent reports that those with this variant of the Coronavirus are “much less sick” than previous patients. “In fact, they said, most of their infected patients were admitted for other reasons and have no Covid symptoms,” said the Times.

I regret to inform you that Dr. Anthony Fauci is upset. The most destructive domestic force during the COVID-19 pandemic, in my opinion, wants Lara Logan of Fox News to be disciplined. Why? Because Logan had the audacity to offend Fauci’s sensibilities with a Nazi comparison. Apparently, the rules have changed and now comparing a government official who has an authoritarian bent, dismisses constitutional concerns, and loves power to a member of the Third Reich is off-limits or something. Here was her comment, which requires a bit of nuance if you want to understand what she’s saying.

This now makes two articles today that I have to assure you aren’t satire. In short, we all know what CNN is insinuating here. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to reestablish a World War II-era civilian military force that he, not the Pentagon, would control. DeSantis pitched the idea Thursday as a way to further support the Florida National Guard during emergencies, like hurricanes. The Florida National Guard has also played a vital role during the pandemic in administering Covid-19 tests and distributing vaccines.

Inflation numbers for October 2020 to October 2021 came in at a staggering 6.2%. Much of that increase, of course, has occurred under this current administration. That number is up dramatically from the 2% inflation rate that was recorded from October 2019 to October 2020 during the Trump Administration. For many years, including during the Obama and Bush II years, inflation hovered around 2-3%. That was always the target the Federal Reserve set as their goal to keep the economy humming without it overheating and causing inflation. If you really want to see how dramatically inflation decreases your buying power, go on the internet and find an inflation calculator.

Gov. Ron DeSantis continues to lead while other Republicans cower in the corner. With the rise of the so-called “Omicron” variant of COVID (they skipped the Xi variant for obvious reasons), the Florida governor has chosen to double down on policies that actually make sense. Lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccine mandates simply haven’t produced results in other parts of the country. Michigan, led by Democrat Gretchen Whitmer, serves as the latest example with the state now having the highest COVID case rate in the nation. In comparison, DeSantis has rightly decided that it’s better to follow actual data and real-world results than to abide by the gospel of Fauci.

Women have come a long way. Surely, there was a time when some didn’t want to be women. Early in America, they weren’t allowed to vote. But they gained that right, and upward they went. Then bras were burned and independence espoused. Later — some might say — they replaced men as the less-maligned sex. And now…they don’t want to be women. Such is the case for select sojourners, and it’s an issue at a women’s college in Virginia. As reported by NPR, a crew of collegiate females is ditching their daughterness.

Many months ago, I wrote an article entitled “We Don’t Have a President.” That was in response to Joe Biden disappearing for several days, while Israel entered into another war with the Palestinians and a cyberattack took down a major pipeline in the United States. Those concerns seem quaint now, given the disaster in Afghanistan and the escalation of a series of domestic issues that followed, from high inflation to the supply chain crisis. Of course, the response to COVID-19 has been no better, and another confused measure was taken yesterday in response to the newest variant scare. Initially, Dr. Anthony Fauci signaled that a travel ban was not necessary,

Vice President of the Lower Austrian Medical Association Gerrit Loibl has suggested that the government should levy a monthly fine of up to €100 to anyone unvaccinated. Loibl has suggested that those who have not been vaccinated should pay between €90 and €100 (£78-£84/$90-$113) per month to the government, claiming that the amount is based on the current tax on tobacco products. The proposed monthly fines would be part of Austria’s already announced vaccine mandate for all residents that is scheduled to begin in February of next year. We’ve seen all kinds of efforts on the part of the Biden team to cover up for Joe Biden’s issues and incoherence. They’ve done all they could to try to rush people out of the White House events, rudely yelling and basically pushing them out of the room, even cutting off UK PM Boris Johnson in the process. But it’s not as easy now that Biden is in the White House as it was during the campaign when they could hide him in the basement. As my colleague Sister Toldjah explained, they even scrapped the traditional “Three Amigos” press conference with Canadian and Mexican heads of state.

Mayor Bill de Blasio sprung a COVID-19 vaccine mandate on all private businesses in New York City on Monday—drawing immediate rebuke from trade groups and some fellow elected officials who said the backbone of the Big Apple was “blindsided” by the stunning move. Adding to the shockwave, the policy is scheduled to go into effect in just 21 days, on Dec. 27. The announcement left New Yorkers and the city’s business community flabbergasted. Kathryn Wylde, head of the business group Partnership for NYC, blasted the mayor’s announcement. “There’s no forewarning, no discussion, no idea about whether it’s legal or who he expects to enforce it,” she said.

These are: modernizing, coordinating, and resourcing U.S. government efforts to fight corruption; curbing illicit finance; holding corrupt people accountable; preserving and strengthening the capacity to fight corruption; and improving diplomatic engagement, and leveraging foreign assistance resources to fight corruption.(snip)“We recognize that any approach that we take is going to have burdens on the real estate industry.

Biden is expected to warn of dire consequences should Russia follow through with a military offensive, while Putin is expected to reiterate his ultimatum that NATO should not allow Ukraine to join its military alliance. The outcome of the video call could have major implications as Putin weighs the potential costs of a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine.
