This now makes two articles today that I have to assure you aren’t satire. In short, we all know what CNN is insinuating here.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to reestablish a World War II-era civilian military force that he, not the Pentagon, would control. DeSantis pitched the idea Thursday as a way to further support the Florida National Guard during emergencies, like hurricanes. The Florida National Guard has also played a vital role during the pandemic in administering Covid-19 tests and distributing vaccines.

The military force is going to be used to control the likes of Piglosi and people like her that are buying property in Florida.

DeSantis is very wise to build his own militia, and other states should copy, if they wish to retain any sovereignty.

FTA: "... he, not the Pentagon, would control."
That would be "he", the Governor of the State of Florida, not "he", Ron de Santis.
Several other states have something similar, usually call the "State Guard", as opposed to the "National Guard." They came about from the 1916 call-up that nationalized the existing state militias and put them on the border with Mexico, and the institutional changes that followed.
One of the big changes was that the Federal government now could call up the National Guard for reasons that the states felt did not "provide for the common defense" and deploy them elsewhere, including overseas. Some states felt they still needed to have an organization to provide for their local and internal defense.
Hence, the Texas State Guard.

Only 200? Hardly worth it. Spread out through the state there would only be a few for each county. At 20,000 you're getting somewhere.
Most people here in FL would be happy to join.

Several states have active State California Forces that report only to the Governor. Florida's was inactive. California and Connecticut are among the few that actually do weapons training. DeSantis activates a unit and doesn't even call for weapons training and the left set their hair on fire. What about Blue Governors that already have this and more? Oh, that's Ok...

When The Zero proposed a "civilian force as well armed as the US military" everyone thought it was great.
DeSantis is a good person. His ideas are to help preserve this nation and our freedoms.

Sorry, morning fingers: Several states have active State Defence Forces that report only to the Governor. Florida's was inactive. California and Connecticut are among the few that actually do live weapons training. DeSantis activates an inactive unit as a resource for hurricane response to help the citizens of his state and does not even call for weapons training (like those Democrat Governors have) and the Leftists set their hair on fire. Hypocritical rhetoric as usual.

Still not sure how I feel about this subject. DeSantis is a great guy, but he won't be governor forever. What about the next guy after him, especially if its a democrat or a Uniparty person?

What DeSantis is proposing is on the state level, but what is the difference between county level and state level? Many states have Sheriff's posse's to help the county sheriffs at times. DeSantis is just proposing basically the same thing only on a state level. I think it is a good idea.

Seems like a very good idea, which I wish Texas' Governor Abbot would emulate. If Washington is going to claim they have the power to tell the states they MUST submit to the jab, it is time to return to actually reading the constitution instead of hallucinating about auras and penumbras of emergency powers.

The same Leftards who are screaming about a Florida state guard see nothing wrong in Piglosi expanding her personal police force (the DC Capitol Police) to open branch offices in California and perhaps Chicago, and more than doubling that agency’s budget

I suspect the "Malabar" location is actually the old Malabar Naval Outer Landing Field , more recently named USAF Malabar Transmitter Annex . it is not located in Malabar florida, but actually 5 or so miles to the west in Palm Bay Florida. It was most recently used as a download site for highly classified Keyhole satellite data, but supposedly now that capability has been deactivated and antennas removed though it may now work with Kennedy Space Center and/or Patrick AFB (now Patrick Space Force Base), But Who Knows as it is now US Space Force controlled... I know of no appropriate sites actually in Malabar Florida and there is plenty of vacant property in that area, but the only government controlled (FAA) site would be Valkaria Airport on the Malabar /Grant valkaria border. But it is in use as an active civilian airport, though it was built during WWII as an auxiliary airport to the melbourne Naval Air Station

They're scared of DeSantis. Not because of some militia/civil war nonsense, but because he's an existential threat to their grip on power. He's exposing them in real time.
