Homeless and people with low incomes will soon be housed next to the iconic and expensive Venice Beach neighborhood after the Los Angeles City Council approved last week a 136-unit apartment building.
The project, which will be built on city property that is now a parking lot, will cover 2.7 acres and the Venice Dell Community project will cost $75 million.
This is a development that is also taking place in other U.S. cities led by leftists who believe forcing diversity of income and race into prosperous and safe neighborhoods is required to achieve “equity.”
Half of the units will house homeless people,

Bye-bye Venice canals.
Fortunately we have enough signatures to recall Communist Mike Bonin from city council.

This sort of thing is mostly about injecting poor kids into well-funded schools in areas people move to specifically for getting away from poor people.

High density plus low income equals ghetto tenement slums. Just moving the slum from the beachfront sidewalks to new high density government subsidized housing to be made into a permanent version of what is currently on the streets. Will one be going up in Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades next?

Gotta spread the Misery and Crime. That's equity for ya! Don't raise the entire populace, lower the median.

They could take ALL the people who they intend to put in the "affordable" housing, and put them instead in the venice neighborhood. Come back in 10 years and the venice neighborhood will look like the place they came from originally.

You reap what you sow, People! If you continue to vote for Radical Democrats, this is what you're going to have to live with. It's amazing that a small percentage of the people in this country have been able to scream "equity" until now they can build that kind of housing next to Million Dollar Homes! Anyone who has experienced Low income housing in their towns or cities know exactly what is going to happen. It won't be pretty. So, what's it going to take for Democrats to wake up? Maybe this will do it to the homeowners in Venice Beach!

Isn’t Venice Beach already a shiitehole? Isn’t that where actor Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee) has homeless camped in his front yard? How pricey could the neighborhood be at this point with that kind of thing going on?

Self inflicted wound, but don't be too giddy about the lessons that will once again be played out for CA residents. I didn't vote for any rat at any level, but like you, I will suffer under the edicts of insanity. They lie, cheat and steal and just because you escape some of their horrors does not mean you escape all of them. This stupidity will arrive at your doorstep one way or another, starting with you trying to pay for power and food.

There are lower income areas around Venice, more modest housing. Have been for decades. Many of the old cottages in Venice have housed some of these people. Not homeless. Many artists. The luxury homes came as the Hunter Bidens swooped in and razed some of the character homes to build modern monstrosities. The product of relatively recent gentrification.
I will not cry salty tears over this.

Wonderful idea! Place them next to neighborhoods to which they can travel in a short time without the need for a car. It will take several more trips to haul the stolen loot home but hey, you can't cover everything. Meanwhile, the homeless population will continue to increase. That's known as the "feed the squirrels syndrome."

And the entertainment just keeps on trucking. Are these liberal leftists in Cali ever going to learn? Maybe after many break-ins in their mansions, they might just get the message. Elections have consequences liberals, choose wisely.

Surrounding neighborhoods will see their value decrease with the new "Neighbors". Taxes will skyrocket to try to make up the difference in revenue, and there you have it, the responsible will flee.

75M/136 units comes out to 550K per unit - any property taxes on these? rent cover utilities?
what is the process by which one obtains a unit?
