A retired Oakland Police Captain was shot and wounded during a robbery attempt at a gas station Thursday, the Oaklandside reported. Ersie Joyner, an officer who retired in 2019 after 28 years of service, was pumping gas when three people in hooded sweatshirts and face masks tried to rob him. Surveillance video shows the three individuals grab Joyner and try to take his belongings. Joyner drew a gun, killed one of the suspects and may have wounded another before the three individuals fled the scene, the Oaklandside reported.

“Crime spike”in Oakland? Ludicrous. For as many decades as I can remember, Oakland has been a crime-ridden, largely black city. Gertrude Stein once said of Oakland “there’s no there there”… A soulless place. The notion that there is a crime spike may come from some who don’t know Oakland’s history.

Three on one is bad odds, but unfortunately, is becoming more common. The retired captain did well to survive at all.

"New math"...it may be that there were the 3 that directly attacked him, then also a driver in the car who got "away". But... Every time something like this happens, it lessens the chance of it happening to someone else, somewhere else. Not just because some will die, get wounded, get arrested/charged and put away but, also.. "Huntin' ain't so fun when the Rabbit gotz a Gun", word gets around.

#1, exactly my thoughts. Oakland had its good spots a long time ago but there were always places you didn’t go. Now the whole city is a hellhole. Actually, the whole state is a hellhole. We fled California in 2011.

Keep this in mind if you are attacked when pumping gas. Painful in eyes, and to breathe, and everyone grasps what a spark can do. Not a lot of precision required...."hose down the area". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK904G0txhs

Oakland up until poop city, S.F. was the armpit of the Bay Area. We know. We lived 50 miles away and tried not to go to Oakland if we could help it. CA how the mighty have fallen.

I met the head of credit unions in 1987 for lunch. I was working for Thomas Cook Financial Sevices and took Bart from SF. I then walked 25 blocks in a suit with a 14,000 laptop on my shoulder through Oakland. He was amazed I wasn’t killed and robbed! I cabbed it back to the other side of the bay and thanked him for his choice in eating establishments! It was nasty looking back then! Carried a GRID laptop that ran DOS programs! Lol! Still a DOS hack!

Procter and Gamble said Tuesday it is raising prices on a variety of popular home goods due to a sharp increase in freight transportation and raw materials costs. The company behind Tide detergent and Gillette razors announced it would increase prices for beauty, oral care and grooming products, like razors, according to The Wall Street Journal. Procter and Gamble (P&G) announced in July that it would charge more for consumer staples like diapers and toilet paper. P&G anticipates that the price increase, coupled with high product demand, will offset the increased costs of transportation and raw materials, according to the WSJ.

As reported in the FrontPageMag article “Red China Tried To Go Green, Now It’s Going Dark,” the U.S. is currently experiencing widespread supply chain disruptions caused in part by China’s disastrous renewable energy collapse, which has led to a severely crippled economy brought on by widespread power blackouts. Democrats tout green energy as a “clean” and “renewable” source of electricity. They also say that producing green energy has minimal impact on the environment (that’s a flat-out lie). For those who have been led to believe that green energy is “clean,”

President Joe Biden’s wide-ranging vaccine mandate will affect tens of millions of U.S. workers, but experts, labor unions and business groups are divided on what impact the rule will have. While experts disagree on whether the federal mandate, which applies to the majority of the U.S. workforce, may lead to mass resignations, the rule will at the very least disrupt workplaces nationwide, Erik Eisenmann, a partner at the national law firm Husch Blackwell, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “I think one of the effects that you will see over the next month, as more and more businesses roll out mandates is that there’s going to be a shrinking population

In the more-frequent political conversations in which I find myself nowadays (not because I initiate them or even want to have them, but because leftists can’t help but pontificate about their virtuous superiority), one of my go-to responses takes a very macro approach of the world.

Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) compared deaths among those aged 12 and older who got any of the three authorized vaccines in the U.S. to teens and adults who did not. Deaths due to causes unrelated to the virus were up to three times more likely in unvaccinated people than those who got either the Pfizer or Moderna Covid vaccines. And non-COVID-19 fatalities were nearly twice as likely among Americans who were not jabbed compared to those who received the one-shot

My thoughts are with the loved ones she left behind. Having said that, I cannot escape a feeling that karma had a hand in this one because the finger on the trigger of the gun that killed Hutchins belonged to Alec Baldwin, a hysterical leftist who is fanatically opposed to the Second Amendment. To give a sense of Baldwin’s hostility to gun rights, in 2018, the smug and constitutionally illiterate Baldwin had some harsh words for Dana Loesch, an NRA spokeswoman

First things first. National Review Editor Rich Lowry is not a “die-hard” Trump fan. We’ll offer several examples later in the article — but let’s first get to the business at hand. As Lowry sees it, it’s a fool’s game to overestimate Trump’s dominance of the Republican Party this far in advance of the 2024 election. Lowry writes, in an op-ed posted by The New York Post on Friday, that Republican politicians who think the Republican Party belongs to Trump can be forgiven, given that he not only survived two impeachments and the January 6 attack against the U.S. Capitol; he has since continued to thrive.
