Rich Lowry: Trump Won't Walk Away With
GOP Nomination in 2024

Original Article

First things first. National Review Editor Rich Lowry is not a “die-hard” Trump fan. We’ll offer several examples later in the article — but let’s first get to the business at hand. As Lowry sees it, it’s a fool’s game to overestimate Trump’s dominance of the Republican Party this far in advance of the 2024 election. Lowry writes, in an op-ed posted by The New York Post on Friday, that Republican politicians who think the Republican Party belongs to Trump can be forgiven, given that he not only survived two impeachments and the January 6 attack against the U.S. Capitol; he has since continued to thrive.

Comments:

If it's Trump, that's great. If it's not'Trump, that's OK too. So long as that person wins. Nothing else matters.

FTA: Part of the reason Trump has clung to his fanciful stolen-election narrative is to avoid the stench of defeat of a Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush. Actually, I believe he's been helping to shine a light on the multitude of issues the plagued the 2020 election, and not allow some of the shenanigans to continue. If you're not willing to clean up the voter rolls, and ensure there is strong chain of custody of ballots, then you likely are afraid of how it may alter the elections. The FBI has already concluded there was no coordination of the "riots" by Trump supporters. But when you have the AG (who's an insider as is his wife) state, at a committee hearing, he was not aware of the $400 million dollar infusion of Zuckerberg cash in select states, then you can't help but conclude there are problems democrats would not want exposed.

WFB did a service to the country when he founded NR. It was thoughtful, courageous, informative and literate. It deteriorated in quality and depth precipitously after Lowry took over. Now the NR enterprise is so elitist that it is unreadable to the mavericks and free thinkers who used to love it so much. A 40-year subscriber, I now throw each issue in the trash as soon as it arrives as a complete waste of time and I have no intention of renewing.

FTA: The fact is that he lost [or the election was “stolen”] to Joe Biden, and, despite last-minute changes in election procedures and the media and social media landscape being stacked against him, it was fundamentally his doing. So Lowry's article isn't really about 2024, it's just another 'I hate Trump and you should too' post.

I was a subscriber to NR when WFB handed this kid the keys to the Lincoln. He promptly wrapped it around a telephone pole. FTA: "What’s different is that parties typically aren’t kind to one-term presidents who lost their re-election bids..." President Trump did not lose his election. And he has been proven right about absolutely everything he ever said. And we cannot wait to give him 2 (or maybe 1-1/2) more terms. Oh, and we are not having mere elections anymore. We are in fact repelling a communist insurgency attempting to overwhelm our Republic via entrenched deep state and tech oligarchs. Lowry. Should. Know. This.

Like #11, I subscribed to National Review since 1997. For most of that time the magazine was a breath of fresh air. When Trump declared his intention to run in 2016 the writers made clear their distaste for him. I didn’t care since I wasn’t convinced Trump would be a good president. After Trump won, and I certainly did vote for him, I knew he would be great. National Review remained a harsh critic. The end for me came with NR’s pre-election issue last year. Three columnists opined on Trump. One wrote that Trump must be defeated. Another said he would vote for Trump but devoted paragraph after paragraph to the horrors of Trump. The third writer was sitting on the fence, not sure whether to vote for Trump. I was flabbergasted. This from Buckley’s magazine? Nearly every issue after Election Day contained at least one article criticizing Trump. I grew tired and angry so wrote a letter to Lowry explaining why I won’t renew the subscription after it expires in December. The magazine no longer has any relevance.

During the Senate Watergate hearings that eventually brought down the presidency of Richard Nixon, Republican Sen. Former Hawaii Congresswoman and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has never been one to shy away from wading into hot button topics and angering “her side” in the process, and the Kyle Rittenhouse case has been no exception. As we’ve previously reported, the prosecution in the closely-watched trial has done themselves zero favors over the last few days, suffering serious setbacks such as Judge Bruce Schroeder repeatedly admonishing them over their courtroom antics, with inarguably the biggest setback being that one of the prosecution’s star witnesses admitted on the stand that Rittenhouse only shot at him

Last month, columnist David Frum penned a piece for The Atlantic that revealed he knows as much about firearms as Michael Moore does about dieting. In his article, “Responsible Gun Ownership Is a Lie,” he argues that Americans are better off with strict gun control designed to make it more difficult for people to own firearms. Frum makes most of the usual anti-Second Amendment arguments in his piece, deceptively claiming that lax gun control laws make people less safe. But, as with most of his anti-gun comrades, Frum fails to make a compelling case.

Lifeline is a federal program originally intended to provide low-income people with a free landline phone. Sensing a chance to get more poor people to vote for them, Democrats expanded the program to include free cell phones. To maximize the number of subsidized cell phone recipients, “free phone” vans patrol low-income areas of every Democrat-run city in America, a practice that has resulted in massive fraud. The “free phones” van pictured above set up shop on a street in a predominately African American area of Baltimore.

Hundreds of Boeing employees, braving the rain in Everett, Washington, came out on Saturday to protest the company’s vaccine requirement. Boeing has imposed the requirement because, as they are federal contractors, Joe Biden has demanded as part of his vaccine mandate executive order that federal contractors comply by Dec. 8. The employees have until that date to get vaccinated or lose their jobs. The crowd of protesters was a raucous one, not afraid to express their opinion, waving Gadsden flags and raising signs reading: “My body, my choice” and “F Joe Biden,” with some of them saying they would rather quit than comply.

According to her mother, she’s still recovering from the brutal punch over the weekend.(Snip)“The person in question went down the court and shot a 3-pointer, landed, fell backwards into my daughter,” Ham said. “As they got up and turned and were walking back down to the other side of the court, her mom says to her, ‘You need to hit her for that.’ And the child in question sucker-punched

President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that most Americans cannot understand the problems faced by the United States' supply chains, adding that 'not a lot of people' have a clear grasp of the networks and their implications. Speaking at the port of Baltimore, where he touted his $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill—which was passed by Congress on Friday, and which he plans to sign into law on Monday—Biden said that investing in resiliency was essential. As Vermont reports higher than ever COVID-19 case rates, state health officials have been trying to understand why. How can a state that did so well during the first part of the pandemic — even garnering national recognition — be doing so much worse now? "There is not one simple answer," said Vermont Health Commissioner Dr. Mark Levine during a news conference Tuesday. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday floated sending migrants to President Biden’s home state of Delaware, in response to the dozens of migrant flights DeSantis says have landed in Florida at the behest of the Biden administration. "If they’re going to come here, we’ll provide buses," DeSantis said of the migrants on the flights. "I will send them to Delaware and do that. If he’s not going to support the border being secure, then he should be able to have everyone there," he said.
