Thousands of people in California were without power Monday as Pacific Gas & Electric Co. preemptively shut off service due to favorable fire weather. PG&E said in a statement Sunday night that it would conduct a so-called “Public Safety Power Shutoff” cutting power for approximately 25,000 customers in 20 counties beginning at 4 a.m. on Monday morning. “This safety shutoff is due to a dry, offshore wind event expected to start Sunday night and bring wind gusts of up to 50 mph by Monday morning,” the utility said. I was fortunate here in Louisiana to only be without power for 6 days from Ida. My thought was thank God for fossil fuel. But not just for own generator. It was for the hospitals, police stations etc. In addition, fossil fuel powered all the repair trucks required to repair the electric lines.

Blew like bloody hell out here in the SoCal desert. No loss of power but I really don't care about that anyway. That part is easy when you're prepared. What I care about is the foxtrot-alpha-hotels running the show in our once-beautiful Golden State and this is why I'm leaving for good early next year. Girlfriend is already there, up and running. Never thought I'd say this but I can scarcely wait to get out of here. My only concern now is getting out before Cali decomposes completely. We're exporting our conservative values out of this lost cause. It's my turn; moving to a state that actually wants us there. Forgotten what that feels like.

The Alec Baldwin Conundrum 27 replies

Alec Baldwin got to play his dream role last week, and unfortunately for an innocent woman, it was a method-acting version of Ted Kennedy. Now, you note that I am mocking a guy whose probable gross negligence killed a lady and maimed a man, and this raises an important question – do we really want to live in a world where our reaction to a tragedy caused by an enemy is not sorrow and compassion but mockery? It doesn’t matter what we want. We do live in such a world, in large part due to the likes of Alec Baldwin.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Oct. 21 called for a special legislative session to consider measures to counter vaccine and mask mandates. The move follows a series of COVID-19 vaccine mandates imposed by the administration of President Joe Biden. That doesn’t sit well with the Florida governor, who has “had enough” of federal interference into state business, press secretary Christina Pushaw told The Epoch Times. The legislative proposals include the provision of reemployment assistance to people who are fired due to failure to comply with an employer’s vaccine mandate. Under another proposal, Floridians who have an adverse reaction to a vaccine would be eligible for workers’ compensation.

With civic guidance and political leadership absent on the heels of multiple national crises, the entire country is now roiled in an era of massive civilian disobedience campaigns as thousands of American workers seek protection from President Biden’s flawed vaccine dictates. If you listen to Biden’s recent incoherent statement on vaccine mandates or you are an incurable aficionado of what used to be called mainstream media, you may think there is reason to believe that a formal Presidential Executive Order mandating national Covid vaccinations had been issued. As with many Democratic initiatives, the truth and reality of Biden’s September 9th announcement are frequently at odds.

The voluntary goals finalized Wednesday for 163 foods are intended to help lower the amount of salt people eat. A majority of the sodium in U.S. diets comes from packaged or restaurant foods — not the salt added to meals at home — making it hard for people to make changes on their own.
