No prize awarded because the nominees
were white men

Original Article

Woke is too kind a word for this story because Scientific American now approves of discrimination based on race and sex. A great story fell into the publication's lap. The American Geophysical Union refused to award a prize for excellence in science because all five candidates were white males. What kind of nonsense is that? Do the members of the prize committee eschew flight because the Wright Brothers were white males? Do they walk rather than drive a car, ride a bicycle, or ride a motorcycle because all of them were invented by white males? Ditto trains. Ditto telegraph. Ditto radio. Ditto TV. Rather than take this committee to task, Scientific American praised

Comments:

Maybe all those BLM types who people the TV commercials we now see are running things?

Before we call them backstabbers, and write them off, let's see what comes of it. The fact they have appeared and are "speaking" doesn't mean they're really telling them anything. Or they could tell them the truth, which means they'll be vilified in the press. So we'll know soon enough.

They should sue based on discrimination. Oh wait, Democrats have been blaming white males for the evils of the world for at least 3 generations. Therefore, discrimination against white males falls into the Just-Us category. They are not Just-Us so not subject to the usual laws.

To those who say that diversity is a strength I say you are full of it. Diversity means NOTHING OR LESS THAN NOTHING IN A MERITOCRACY. Awards for scientific achieve fall into the meritocracy basket. This Marxist cra# is destroying education the professions and any meritocracy based endeavor.. Diversity of skill sets and relevant backgrounds are a good idea - diversity based on race ethnicity or ones sexual preference are anathema to a world that wants Togo forward and prosper.

Hard reality. White men have created most of the technology, culture, science and all other 'modern benefits' that we have. Most of the black and other indigenous cultures on the planet were still in the stone age when European white males had great art, great literature, great architecture, delivered water over huge distances, paved roads, iron, then steel, firearms, ocean spanning ships, and great music. And had had them for many centuries, even millennia. Pretending otherwise is just a lie.

As much as I despise Scientific American and its fall from robust science reporting, SciAm merely reprinted a story from the website E&E. E&E was also a good balanced publication at one time. No longer.

The vast majority of pharmaceuticals used in the United States come from China. That’s bad news for Americans, as both countries are now engaged in a new cold war. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved 53 novel drugs in 2020, which averages out at about one new drug every seven days. The United States, literally awash in prescription medication, is at the mercy of the FDA, a federal agency that approves drugs at an astounding rate. Why is this the case? The reason why Big Pharma comes with a capital B is because the FDA—along with a number of elected politicians—has a vested interest in the success of the pharmaceutical
