Rolling Stone Is Trying to Cancel Eric Clapton

Original Article

Eric Clapton has been a rock legend for longer than I have been alive. He’s an icon in the music industry who has earned respect and admiration from millions over his career. But he’s been making headlines this year for other reasons. Since having a severe negative reaction to the AstraZeneca vaccine earlier this year, he’s become an outspoken opponent of the COVID vaccines. He has promised not to perform in venues with vaccine mandates, collaborated with Van Morrison on some anti-vaccine/anti-lockdowns songs, and even bankrolled an anti-vaccine rock group. And his recent outspokenness as a vaccine skeptic has many of the cultural gatekeepers looking to have him canceled. Rolling Stone magazine

As someone in the comments section asked, "Isn't Rolling Stone owned by a frat at UVA?" RS ceased to have relevance to me (even as a musician) as the 70s wore on. Most of what their critics liked was crap (with a few notable exceptions like XTC) and they hated Zeppelin and most of what today we consider "classic rock" bands like Boston, Styx, etc. I think they were POed that they missed punk until it morphed into "new wave" in the 80s and they hated that and MTV too. The last relevant story I read in RS was about the onset of AIDS in the gay community. I don't think that a legend like Eric has to worry about this lot. Regarding David Browne of RS, I'm sure Eric said "Who...?" greyseal

Here’s a shocking revelation from the article: young people actually read Rolling Stone. I have not heard any student ever, in 20 years of teaching, talk about what they read in Rolling Stone. Ever! In fact, if I mentioned it, they may think I’m talking about that geezer group that goes on tour for Big Buck$ once in a while.

Clapton is an amazing musician, always has been. He has been through some very rough patches, including the tragic death of his little boy. He overcame addiction and has tried to help other musicians. I have loved his great Crossroads jams where so many of the greatest blues and rock musicians come together. RS once again exposes its pettiness and shallow thinking.

During the 2020 election, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg spent hundreds of millions of dollars to turn out likely Democratic voters. But this wasn’t traditional political spending. He funded a targeted, private takeover of government election operations by nominally non-partisan — but demonstrably ideological — non-profit organizations. Analysis conducted by our team demonstrates this money significantly increased Joe Biden’s vote margin in key swing states. This unprecedented merger of public election offices with private resources and personnel is an acute threat to our republic, and should be the focus of electoral reform efforts moving forward. The 2020 election wasn’t stolen — it was likely bought by one of the world’s wealthiest

Joe Biden’s massive $4 trillion spending bills are in mortal danger of collapsing under their own weight as the gap between what the radicals want and what less-radical Democrats will vote for widens. To make matters worse for ordinary Americans, Biden has come down decisively on the side of the radicals, leaving party moderates to wonder where the sanity went. The $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, already passed by the Senate, is languishing in political purgatory with radical Democrats in the House threatening to kill it unless their $3.5 trillion social safety net bill is approved first. Resentful moderates feel they’ve been lied to by the president and Speaker

A customer violently assaulted a security guard at a New York City Apple Store after the two had a dispute over masks. Police said the dispute occurred just after 6:30 PM inside the W. 14th Street store near Chelsea. After the security guard confronted the customer over the store’s COVID-19 mask requirement, the two argued, and that’s when the customer pulled out a sharp object, stabbing the guard multiple times, NBC4 reported. When police arrived, the suspect had fled the store. Authorities say early information about the suspect is “black, male, 5’6, in his 20’s wearing a black mask, a black shirt and blue jeans,” ABC7 reported.

CALIFORNIA – According to a report from NPR, officials in California are reportedly exploring a potential wide-scale offering to combat meth addiction: paying individuals to stop using drugs. While it’s a bit of a rudimentary explanation of what’s being entertained, that’s essentially what the state may pursue to counteract addiction running rampant within the state. [Tweet] Most would agree that drug addiction – especially in the realm of opioids and methamphetamines – is bad all around: bad for individuals, bad for families, and bad for communities since addiction can often have a domino effect that leads to crimes that cause tangible harm. And when addiction manifests into the deep negatives like overdoses,
