It’s that time again, time to find a new 007 as Daniel Craig retires from the iconic role after five tries. [Snip] So who will be Eon Productions No. 7 007? Diversity seems to be the big catchphrase these days. Is it time for a change? A black man? A black woman? Hispanic? Transgender? Would audiences put up with a radical departure like a female secret agent who orders a Chardonnay spritzer? Not shaken. Not stirred? She’d have to be very good to

My requirements for a new Bond: British male named James (race or ethnicity not important) Heterosexual (no gay sex scenes) Vodka Martini (shaken, not stirred) Anything other than that and I'm done. I've been watching Bond movies since the beginning and I wont put up with messing with that formula.

The Bond franchise has endured nearly 60 years. It would be incredibly stupid to change the character in order to please the non-binary crowd.

How about being creative for a change? If you want a woman super spy how about thinking up a new one. Can anyone in Hollywood do anything without remaking someone else's work? We are so lucky that the movie,TV and author's of the past took pride in new and different stories. I've been re-watching old the old TV shows lately. It's amazing how a trip back to Mayberry can calm a terrified citizen of 2021. In those days each show produced around 39 different weekly episodes. 39 episodes a "season." Now we're lucky to get 6 before a 6 week "break." They say that it costs too much, it probably does but I believe that the lack of imagine among the ones who "know everything," is the "reel" reason.

Look at all the remakes and reworked franchises and movies Hollywood has sent down the gutter sluices this past decade. Very few have been anywhere near as good as the original vision. Some have been so bad the originals should be burnt and buried at night in a secluded and undisclosed location. Bond will soon be a 2 spirit vegan gluten intolerant indigenous chest feeding/birthing person who identifies as a dump truck and whose pronouns should be why/God/why!

At least the author could get the "Goldfinger" quote right. Pussy: "My name is Pussy Galore." Bond: "I must be dreaming" The Bond franchise is obsolete because the British Empire has long since become obsolete. The Bond character was so appealing for the same reason the Beatles were so appealing. They combined the manners of the proper British Empire ("Martini, shaken not stirred") with a mastery of the savage practices found in most of the rest of the non-Anglo world (license to kill). The Beatles (and especially the Rolling Stones) did the same with American blues and black cultural idols. If you watch the early Bond films with Connery the treatment of women was dominating but never cringeworthy. The treatment of women in Lazenby's movie was moronic and the quips and lame humor in the Roger Moore films destroyed the Bond magic for me. Pierce Brosnan revived some of that with his Bond portrayal ("I thought Christmas only came once a year") but the Judy Densch M was a bad move from the start. Daniel Craig turned Bond into a high budget soap opera which is where it finally ended. Bond is dead because nobody believes that Britain is significant in world affairs any more. Wokeness and socialism have sapped any real masculinity out of their male population. If I see another action movie where a 115 pound woman throws a 200 pound male thug against a wall in a fight and knocks him out without breaking a nail I'm going to puke. RIP JB.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. The last white male straight hero in a movie is soon to be eliminated with extreme prejudice. Just as everything since the Dems declared war on white males has lead to the systematic destruction of white males, so too now Bond. RIP James.

Exactly #5. Our Yorkshire relatives in England told us this weekend that although the media tried hard to work up interest for the Red Carpet event on Opening Night, the crowd wasn’t that much. One relative’s SIL worked the event for the studio so he got the inside skinny. I had noticed that the cameras kept to mostly tight shots. Social distancing to keep the great unwashed away from the elites like Wm & Kate, stars like Mr. Craig explains some of the logistics but still the excitement of the old days was sorely lacking. Bond was Connery or Moore to many of us. They need to shut down the franchise if they continue the PC nonsense.

#8, your wish has come true. If I understand the trailer for the latest Bond film, there is a black, female 00 minus the dreadlocks. However, contrary to popular belief, she is not the first on screen female 00. That title belongs to 003 in Thunderball, though you have to look closely in the scene in the huge meeting room. #12 makes some good points. I would add that the timing of the first Bond movies was an entertaining distraction from the real screw ups in British intelligence in the early 60s. Kim Philby and the Cambridge Five, Christine Keeler, and so forth required a hero who stood up for Queen and country. We do the same thing by making movies about hero CIA and FBI folks who naturally defeat the bad guys in the end despite real world episodes of incompetence and deception. I agree the series should end. Michael Wilson, Barbara Broccoli's half brother and co-producer, made a whiny remark about how difficult it is to make a Bond movie in the era of Trump. Well, come 2024 it may well be overwhelming for you Michael, so just quit now.

In the new movie, Daniel Craig is blown up at the end, so the James bond franchise is now DEAD. Usually, at the end of each movie is the quote "James Bond will return in _____________(the next movie in the franchise)" At the end of this one it says "james bond will return"---NO, HE'S DEAD............. We have a "Q" who for the first time has turned Queer, and a "new" 007 who is a black woman. It could not have been released last year, because the premise of the movie is that a bio-weapon has been created to destroy people!!!! Many L.dotters might remember other political thrillers "Seven Days in May" and the original "Manchurian Candidate" with Frank Sinatra and Angela Lansbury which are much better films---- this one has some great chases in it, but other than the beautiful opening in Southern Italy and a new agent portrayed by Ana de Armas as the presumed "Bond Girl" (she steals the show!) who works the now black Agent Felix Leiter, this is an overly-long flick. Bond is not Bond in this franchise ender, instead of "No time to die" this is most certainly time for this franchise to die.... Praying they don't try to do and all-female version like they did to ruin Ghostbusters....

If they had any sense they would go full retro a la Sean Connery. People are fed up with PC. Get a straight, white, handsome English man who is witty, sophisticated, well dressed and lethal. Ditch all the introspection. Get some tough, beautiful women who win through their wits. Their are plenty of Brit actors who could make it work.
