White House COVID-19 adviser Anthony Fauci on Aug. 15 downplayed a recent study from a prominent medical research center that deemed the Pfizer vaccine less effective than the Moderna vaccine. The Mayo Clinic and Cambridge-based biotech company nference, found in the study that both mRNA COVID-19 vaccines’ effectiveness dropped in the month of July. The researchers, while saying the vaccines provided good protection against the virus, found that Moderna’s vaccine effectiveness was 76 percent, as compared with Pfizer’s 42 percent. “That study … is a pre-print study, it hasn’t been fully peer-reviewed,” Fauci said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” of the recent Mayo-nference study’s findings,

The study used by the CDC to support the alleged efficacy of masks is from India, also pre-print and not peer-reviewed. What does the good doctor think of that?

Fauci does not want to hear anything negative about Pfizer. Negative press about Pfizer will harm Pfizer's market share regarding the first two shots AND - perhaps currently more important to Pfizer - booster shots. It seems probable that over time the total number of booster shot sales will exceed the pre-booster shots. Fauci and Pfizer do not want to miss out.

The Pfizer shot had fewer side effects, so not surprising it wears off quicker than Moderna.

Unfortunately, the vaccine effectiveness wears off, but the side effects don't. My wife had the Moderna jab, and her knuckles swelled a full ring size. Also, she's suffered partial memory loss. A sister-in-law's red cell count went up, and now she can't handle 8,000 foot elevations for more than a week.

Only showing the immune system a tiny fragment of the virus, these (toxic) spike proteins is a recipe for a low effectiveness vaccine. Show people an elephant's trunk and teach them to identify any creature with that appendage as "elephant". Show another group a whole elephant. Now, breed a mutant Delta strain of elephants without a trunk.....and the first group will not notice it . The second group will say "Wow, look at that elephant without a trunk." This is the difference between a narrowly focused "vaccine" and a normal vaccine which uses the entire virus in a 'killed' condition. It was a deeply flawed strategy before we discovered two more serious errors, that 1) the spike proteins are toxic by themselves and 2) the spike proteins do NOT stay put in your arm muscles as they intended, but travel all over the body causing mayhem.

The Biden administration’s feckless withdrawal from Afghanistan is sending the worst possible message to our enemies across the world. Our rivals are already convinced of our lack of morale and our fear of the consequences from a response serious enough to concentrate their minds. Twenty years after 9/11, and we still haven’t figured out the nature and aims of those who for decades have in word and bloody deed told us we are an enemy they want to destroy. Instead we cling to our shopworn belief that “diplomatic engagement” can deter and stop a fanatic enemy, hoping words can substitute for deeds. But all we’ll achieve is further damage to our

Consider this a letter of congratulations. I address it to Democrats everywhere who told us that Joe Biden would return the United States to a state of normality. I address it also to those, many putative Republicans as well as Democrats, who fought tooth-and-nail against Donald Trump because—well, because he was not a “normal” politician. Donald Trump issued mean tweets. He made fun of the media, often singling out reporters by name. He was bombastic (more bombastic than President Joe Biden?). President Joe Biden signed an executive order earlier in August establishing the goal of making half of all new vehicles sold in the United States either hybrid or fully electric by 2030. I recently had occasion to quote Charles Péguy’s observation, from a 1905 essay called “Notre Patrie,” that “It will never be known what acts of cowardice have been motivated by the fear of not looking sufficiently progressive.” The cowardice in question can be intellectual or moral as well as physical, something that is vividly illustrated by Holland Cotter’s moist, mincing, over-the-shoulder-glancing review for the New York Times of a small but exquisite exhibition of paintings by the great Venetian Renaissance painter we know as Titian (d. 1576). What will it take for Joe Biden to admit he is disastrously wrong about Afghanistan? The US leader struck a defiant pose last week. Sounding like a slightly desperate Olympics coach, he told Afghans it was their country. If they want it, they have to fight for it. In American politics-speak, this is called tough love. Without the love. Biden has more hands-on foreign policy experience than any president since George HW Bush. That doesn’t mean he knows what he’s doing. Opinion polls suggest his abrupt Afghan withdrawal has majority public support. That doesn’t mean Americans will remain indifferent as the carnage and misery mount.
