Automakers in North America plan to build more pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles than electric vehicles well into the late 2020s, with strong consumer demand for gasoline-powered vehicles charting sales trends that run counter to the Biden administration’s goal of boosting electric vehicles (EVs) to half the market by 2030, according to internal production forecasts reported on by Reuters.
President Joe Biden signed an executive order earlier in August establishing the goal of making half of all new vehicles sold in the United States either hybrid or fully electric by 2030. Biden’s order also set a new schedule for the development of new long-term fuel efficiency and emissions standards

Biden's goal and policies are worthless.
His presidency will be put on the Ash Heap of history before he's out of office.

The EVs currently sold are vanity purchases and extra cars for people who want to have a cool car. They are wildly impractical in most circumstances, particularly in weather extremes (very hot and very cold), are dangerous in a crash, and are even dangerous charging in your garage. A "fill up" takes hours, not the minutes a gasoline car takes, and the range is limited by weather extremes and charging opportunities.

EVs are only useful if an extra expensive, short range, slow to 'refuel' vehicle can meet your (limited) needs.
That's rich folks as a toy or short range commuter, mostly.
Not remotely practical as a general purpose vehicle, which is what most people need.....at a reasonable price.

With the passage of the 1.2 or 1.5 or the 1.7 trillion dollar infrastructure bill (take your pick as to how much it is, I've heard all three) a bill that includes electronics to keep drunks from driving in every car, a number of friends of mine are already planning on buying cars before this stunt is set in motion. Used car prices will skyrocket for vehicles built before whatever year this drunk stuff is installed.

When profits vanish from the automakers, so will the EV craze. Right now many of them think they can make it work, but if you make a product no one wants they aren't going to buy it no matter how good it might be.
California tried to mandate EVs by percentage long ago, and never got anywhere close. So it will be with the rest of America.

I don't believe the Beast that drives Biden around is electric. When is it going to be replaced?

We have plenty of petroleum, at least if the pipelines were open and drilling and fracking were allowed wherever it is profitable and productive. However, we have a limited and controlled supply of materials needed to build batteries needed for Biden’s dream vehicles. This president is such a cluster duck. Sadly, only half of our population recognizes it so far.

I predict gasoline cars will be repaired and kept running for decades just like they did in Cuba. And EV sales will never replace them.
The ultimate plan is for no one except the privileged to have cars.

Face it, lets cut through all of the democratic idiotic greenie bullsh**. An electric car is a freakin toy, like your old little Lionel electric train set. Its nothing more than an over priced golf cart. When is this country going to wake up. One disaster after another and these morons are still around. Pathetic.

# 9 - we have enough oil to fuel the US for a couple of hundred years. And way more natural gas. There has never been a reason to buy oil from OPEC.

I just got a Ford Escape. Can't tell you how much I like it and how it has just EVERYthing and it all works well. And, doggone, it's engineered for fuel economy AND I can kick it in the butt and fly when I need to.
I was worried about the company plans, and government plans, to eliminate gas vehicles. I figured I needed to buy a combustion engine car soon or I wouldn't have options. My old car had years left in it... but when I estimated that it would die... I didn't think I could replace it without batteries. Forced my hand.

What brain dead person can believe that a car that can only be driven 3-400 miles before it takes a day to recharge can in anyway improve our quality of life or the environment is beyond me. From Tesla...
Level 1 Alternating Current (AC): 20-40 hours
Level 2 Alternating Current (AC): 8-12 hours
Level 3 Tesla Supercharger: 15-25 minutes (This requires an enormous amount of energy that has to be created from fossil fuels.)

Exactly what is going to produce the electricity for all these so called charging stations so people can charge their cars? What do people do in the rural areas that don't have charging stations nearby?

imagine, you are the middle of a hurricane alone the Gulf coast or East coast. ou need t evacuate. You pile into you Hummer EV and head out into the traffic jam also evacuating the path of the storm. Bumper to bumper traffic going nowhere real slow. And suddenly you run out of battery power. Can't get gas even though its available (but very expensive). You are stuck in the middle of nowhere. No shelter and only the resources you have in your now worthless EV Hummer, but at lest you 'saved the environment'.
