The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) has canceled the debate planned for next Thursday, after one day earlier announcing the debate would be virtual.
The face-off planned between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden was moved to a virtual setting after last Friday the president announced he'd contracted coronavirus.
Trump promptly announced he wouldn't participate in the virtual format, calling it a "waste of time."
"It is now apparent there will be no debate on October 15, and the CPD will turn its attention to preparations for the final presidential debate scheduled for October 22," the CPD said in a statement.
Presidential debate moderator Steve Scully claimed through a statement by C-SPAN Friday that he believed his Twitter account was "hacked" after a tweet showing him reaching out to outspoken Trump foe Anthony Scaramucci went viral Thursday night.
However, resurfaced tweets show that Scully has a history of blaming hackers for his social media posts.
The "Washington Journal" host appeared to reach out to the former White House communications director, who has become a vocal supporter of Joe Biden, in the now-deleted tweet that read: "@Scaramucci should I respond to trump."
Both the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) and C-SPAN have issued statements claiming Scully didn't actually send that tweet.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has a bad habit of blurting out things he probably should keep to himself, though some would argue this is further evidence of his cognitive decline.

Pennsylvania Republicans are narrowing the registered voter gap with Democrats with just weeks to go until the 2020 election.
This week, Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar released new voter registration data – which showed that the state had around 3.5 million registered Republicans and about 4.2 million registered Democrats.
That compares to last year, when there were about 4 million registered Democrats and 3.2 million registered Republicans, which means the gap in registration declined from around 9.5% to 8.1%, as noted by The Morning Call.
Boockvar also said voter registration may be at an all-time high – about 8,908,777 people have registered to vote in a state of roughly 13 million people.
Former Sen. Bob Dole expressed concern on Friday that no one on the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) supports President Trump, though the commission claims to be nonpartisan.
“The Commission on Presidential Debates is supposedly bipartisan w/ an equal number of Rs and Ds. I know all of the Republicans and most are friends of mine,” Dole, who served 27 years in the Senate and ran for president in 1996, wrote on Twitter.

Hall of Fame New York Yankees pitcher Whitey Ford, who had the highest winning percentage of any pitcher in the 20th century, passed away on Thursday at his home on Long Island at the age of 91.
The cause of death was not known, according to the Associated Press.
Ford pitched from 1950 to 1967 in the major leagues exclusively with the Yankees and went 236-106 with a 2.75 ERA, winning his only Cy Young Award in 1961.

The corporate media has made a fundamental mistake in dealing with President Donald J Trump. Day after day Trump is attacked with made-up conspiracies and personal innuendo and when the president defends himself, they say he doesn't look "presidential." But the American people know he is defending their interests. President Trump is not the problem, Trump is the solution.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Wednesday reversed a lower court decision to grant a new trial in a fraud case involving Hunter Biden's ex-business partner Devon Archer.
Hunter Biden was not charged in the scheme, but Biden's name was reportedly "invoked at various stages of the fraud as a selling point in transactions."
Archer was indicted on March 26, 2018 and charged with conspiracy to commit securities fraud and securities fraud for a Native American tribal bond scheme hatched by Archer and several of his business partners.

The Department of Justice has sued Yale University for race and national origin discrimination in undergraduate admissions. The DOJ alleges that Yale’s discrimination imposes undue and unlawful penalties on racially-disfavored applicants, in particular most Asian and White applicants.
According to the complaint, Yale engages in racial balancing by, among other things, keeping the annual percentage of African-American admitted applicants to within one percentage point of the previous year’s admitted class as reflected in U.S. Department of Education data. The complaint alleges similar racial balancing with regard to Asian-American applicants.
