Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure on a bile duct stent she received last year, the Supreme Court said Wednesday. Ginsburg, who was admitted at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, is expected to be released from the hospital by the end of the week. Per the court, Ginsburg's doctors say stent revisions are common, and done to minimize the risk of infection in the future. Ginsburg — who, at 87, is the oldest member on the court — disclosed earlier this month that she is undergoing chemotherapy for a reoccurrence of pancreatic cancer.
SEATTLE, WA — A team of trained legal observers says the Seattle Police Department violated a court order while dispersing crowds on Capitol Hill Saturday, and purposefully targeted its members, whose attendance at demonstrations is protected by law. Attorney General William Barr announced a new investigation Tuesday while strongly defending the Justice Department’s actions in protecting the federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon.
Barr’s comments came in testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, a hearing that not only was partisan as expected but characterized by rudeness by the panel’s Democrats.
A Democrat would ask a question, but when Barr began to answer, he or she would interject, “Reclaiming my time” and continue speaking until the allotted time was up.

The former vice president struck a discordant tone with fellow liberals who insist protests against the May killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police are peaceful, and that authorities are to blame for any violence in Portland and other cities. “I think we do need to hold those who violate the law accountable,” Biden said. “We should never let what’s done in a march for equal rights overcome what the reason for the march is. It is the world’s fullest and greatest embodiment of capitalism, democracy, and freedom. It is the land of the free, the home of the brave, a source of hope, and a defender of justice.
Many may not understand the significance of America as an ideal. Some in the United States and Europe have lived comfortably for decades, never been invaded, never lost their land or property, nor their freedom to think or speak.
BIDEN VP SEARCH UNDERSCORES FACT HE'S TOO OLD TO BE PRESIDENT. An article in Politico got a lot of buzz in Washington by reporting that Sen. Kamala Harris might not be a very strong front-runner, or even a front-runner at all, in the Democratic vice presidential selection race. Politico reported that 76 year-old former Senator Chris Dodd, a member of 77 year-old former Senator Joe Biden's VP selection committee, was unhappy that Harris showed "no remorse" for her rough attacks on Biden during the Democratic presidential primary season.
But the report revealed something else which should have gotten more attention.
The preamble to the Democratic Party’s draft platform formally honors a list of Native American tribes that resided on the land where its convention is being held—but neglects to acknowledge that many of these groups allied with the British and took up arms against the United States during the War of 1812.
The first page of the Democratic National Committee document begins by "acknowledg[ing] that we gather together to state our values on lands that have been stewarded through many centuries by the ancestors and descendants of Tribal Nations," a reference to the party’s August convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Throughout the book, the author provides a litany of positive trends for the environment, for a message that contrasts sharply with what he describes as a broad and deep misinformation campaign propagated by environmental advocates. The overall theme of the book is that environmentalists have deliberately exaggerated news of impending climate disaster or the collapse of biodiversity.

Frankly, I am relieved, because I have lived in this country for decades, and it has been some 40 years since I encountered a racist, a white supremacist, or even a Euro-maniac.
I have encountered some left-wingers — once politely called liberals — who are obsessed with race, but even these troubled souls I do not consider racists, though some might be. They are more properly referred to as bigots, and intolerant bigots at that.
Ecuador has sounded the alarm after its navy discovered a huge fishing fleet of mostly Chinese-flagged vessels some 200 miles from the Galápagos Islands, the archipelago which inspired Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.
About 260 ships are currently in international waters just outside a 188-mile wide exclusive economic zone around the island, but their presence has already raised the prospect of serious damage to the delicate marine ecosystem, said a former environment minister, Yolanda Kakabadse.

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan and Councilmembers Alex Pedersen and Debora Juarez have had offensive messages written outside their homes by some protesters who support defunding the city’s police department.
Messages written on a street at Durkan’s home read “Guillotine Jenny” and “Resign Bi—,” according to The Seattle Times. Windows at Pedersen’s home read “F— You” and “Don’t be racist trash.”
What a mishmash of revolutionary reference, common obscenities, and identity politics lingo.

Two months of daily and nightly protests and rioting have devastated the city of Portland, Ore., leaving many residents and businesses in a state of fear and uncertainty.
On Tuesday night’s edition of “Fox News @ Night,” host Shannon Bream talked with Stacey Gibson, owner of five fast-food restaurants in the Portland area, including one in the troubled downtown section.
“It’s terrifying,” Gibson said about trying to keep her businesses alive – and her employees in their jobs – amid the twin disasters of the coronavirus and the rioting, which Bream described as a “one-two punch.”

The Trump administration has awarded Kodak a $765 million government loan under the Defense Production Act to help speed the domestic manufacturing of certain medical drugs.A new division, Kodak Pharmaceuticals, is expected to create 350 jobs, senior administration officials said during a call with reporters Tuesday.
