Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert tested positive for coronavirus.Gohmert, a Republican, was set to travel to Texas with President Trump on Wednesday morning when he tested positive for COVID-19 during a pre-screening at the White House, according to a report from Politico. The congressman has resisted wearing a face covering on Capitol Hill, including during the House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing with Attorney General William Barr on Tuesday.During the hearing, Chairman Jerry Nadler scolded Republican members of the committee for not having their masks on while they were waiting for their turn to speak."I would remind Mr. Jordan, Mr. Biggs and Mr. Johnson to stop violating the rules of the committee.

I am guessing Rep Gohmert was completely asymptomatic considering he was at the White House to see the President. If so, he has a probably greater than 99% survival chance... especially if he gets on HCQ+ right now. He probably also was not shedding virus in any way so a mask of any kind would have been completely useless. But I knew... spouting actual science and statistics at the media is useless.
I love that the fat weeble wooble Nadler took his mask on and off like 50 yesterday and it never occurred to him that IF any virus were in or on it, his hands coming in contact with it were spreading it all over his smarmy face and his desk and his notes and his phone. Bet he quickly waddled to get his test this am after learning about Rep Gohmert.

Louie, go get retested. My kid works at a restaurant. After two days of work, they closed the place for a few days when one of the employees tested positive. A couple days later, all the employees were tested and my kid comes up positive for antibodies. Quarantine for 10 days. When we did the test 10 days later, he's negative (including negative for antibodies). Redid the test, same result. The first test was, we suspect, either faulty or mislabeled as another person's test.

In my job I come into close contact with the bottom feeders of society, aka criminals, on a daily basis. I wear a mask, it doesn't cost me a penny and it is only a very minor inconvenience. So far I am covid free and intend to stay that way. Wear a mask, what's the big deal?

I have no trust in these labs. Multiple labs in Florida lied and declared 100% positive on tests. I know of people in Louisiana who went for testing, filled out the paperwork, got tired of waiting and left. They got a report in the mail telling them they tested positive!
Do NOT go get tested out of curiosity! They will count you and all of your close acquaintances as positive cases.

Agree with comments, the “test” is not reliable, only causes trouble fro everyone involved except those profiting from doing the test. We are all being “hoo dooed”. Why even get the “test” if no effective treatment. Only trouble for you and your friends-contacts.

Was this determined by one of those unused swabs? Most of them seem to test positive, for some strange reason...

I'd get a second test. Especially if Louie isn't showing any symptoms. Wouldn't surprise me at all for them to fake test results.

I only trust the blood test. Anything else is a quick-and-dirty screening test.

Your body, your choice, #4. Live it up. But, the big deal is that 1) I can’t breathe, and get sick to my stomach if I wear one for long, 2) A mask neither prevents transmission nor infection, so if you don’t have COVID, you can thank your strong immune system, 3) I can’t understand a thing anyone says, 4) Masks are not part of the human face and are NOT supposed to be a permanent feature. They are for short-term, emergency or work situations, and most importantly, 5) I don’t flipping want to and shouldn’t have to explain that to anyone.

I’m with #10 on the mask issue.
All it’s doing is diminishing our immune systems.
And kids really need to get back to school before their immune systems become any more diminished.

Yeah, I'm sure Jerry Nadler wearing his mask on his forehead like a clown hat sure helped him avoid infection.

#10 I agree. Having COPD and wearing a mask is difficult.
