Often the choice about war isn't whether or not, but sooner or later. By taking preemptive action in the form of a targeted assassination of a top Iranian general, President Trump may have pre-empted far worse conflict in the future. Of course it is a risk, but it is a well-calculated one. Pre-empting an Inevitable War with Iran Most of the great wars of the past would have been far less bloody had they begun sooner. Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commander Qasem Soleimani wasn't the only major-league terrorist killed in the drone strike ordered by Donald Trump. Also killed was Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, a top Iraqi paramilitary leader whose long, bloody career includes attacks on American and other Western embassies, as well as being a founder of Kata'ib Hezbollah, a group responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers in Iraq. In 2009, the U.S. sanctioned both al-Muhandis and Kata'ib Hezbollah as terrorist entities. In some ways, killing al-Muhandis was more significant than the death of Soleimani. He's been an active terrorist against the U.S. since the occupation of Iraq
The Democrats’ Divergence Defines 2020 replies

We have 2020 backwards: Not Trump, but his opponent, will be more determinant. In part, this is true because President Trump leaves few undecided: He has already had his impact. Therefore, 2020’s more influential variable will be the Democrat, who will be more divergent from normal challengers than Trump will be from a normal incumbent. Elected incumbents are usually the story in their reelection and usually it is a good one for them. When the economy is good, so is their outcome: 11-3 since 1912, with the losses all coming when there has been negative GDP growth within a year of the election.

The immediate chain of events that led to the unprecedented US airstrike that killed top Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani began in late December, when a missile attack on an Iraqi military base in Kirkuk killed an American contractor. The US — which blamed that attack on Kataib Hezbollah, an Iraqi militia closely associated with Iran — responded with airstrikes in Iraq and Syria that killed 25 people. In reaction, pro-Iranian militia members and others stormed the US Embassy compound in Baghdad. The US has closely followed Soleimani’s movements over the last few months, but a US official told The Washington Post that discussion of the strike began after the contractor’s death.

Last night, Elizabeth Warren tweeted a response to the airstrike on Soleimani which began “Soleimani was a murderer, responsible for the deaths of thousands, including hundreds of Americans.” That is all completely accurate, but it was too much for the far left of the party which began attacking Warren as a warmonger:(Tweets)

Australia’s navy rescued hundreds of people stranded on a Victoria beach Friday as more than 200 wildfires continue to rip through the nation’s eastern states, prompting the largest peacetime evacuation in the country's history. At least 19 people are dead and 28 more are missing after hundreds of fires scorched more than 12.35 million acres of land, destroying at least 1,400 homes in three states. Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews declared a disaster across much of the coastal part of the state, allowing the government to order evacuations in an area with as many as 140,000 permanent residents and tens of thousands more vacationers.

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Joe Biden is the only 2020 presidential candidate who was in the White House Situation Room as Navy SEALs descended on Usama bin Laden’s Pakistan compound in 2011. But a critical detail in his story about that mission has changed in the last eight years. During a brief exchange with Fox News on Friday, the former vice president was presented with a hypothetical situation similar to the one President Trump says he faced before ordering an airstrike to kill Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Democrats are being mocked and criticized for their temper tantrums in the wake of President Trump’s ordered airstrike in Iraq. Remarks from Sen. Lindsey Graham indicating that he was briefed about the imminent strike that killed an Iranian military leader sent the left into spasms over why Democrat leaders were not included in the discussions. [Tweet] “I was briefed about the potential operation when I was down in Florida. I appreciate being brought into the orbit.” the Republican from South Carolina told Fox News, indicating he was with the president at his Palm Beach home. The fact that top Senate Democrat Sen. Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,
