Finally! A political figure, rising star Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas, has challenged the false premise that there was anything wrong with President Trump asking for Ukrainian help in an investigation of corruption in the 2016 election undertaken by Joe Biden. Just because it would potentially help discredit a potential political opponent is no reason to override the public benefit from investigating corruption. For some reason, no other national politician has bothered making this point. Crenshaw did so yesterday on CNN, and faced intense opposition from CNN’s Chris Cuomo:

Last week, the U.S. sued the state of California along with other state entities for entering an agreement with Canadian province, Quebec, back in 2013. The agreement was to control emissions linked to climate change and the issue being that the state had no right to conduct foreign policy. According to the Justice Department, the state of California, state officials, the California Air Resources Board, and the Western Climate Initiative Inc. entered into the 2013 agreement without congressional approval. In the lawsuit, President Donald Trump’s administration makes the argument that the constitution prohibits states from making treaties or pacts with foreign powers. The weekend raid that resulted in the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was named after Kayla Mueller, an American aid worker killed in Syria in 2015 while being held captive by the sadistic ISIS leader. During his Sunday morning announcement from the White House, President Trump twice invoked Mueller’s name in addition to the names of other Americans murdered under the Islamic State’s ongoing reign of terror. According to reports from some of his escaped victims, Baghdadi took Mueller as his secret bride in 2013. “We were told Kayla was tortured, that she was the property of al-Baghdadi,” her parents said in an August 2015 interview.

The latest media freakout over the death of Abu Bakr-al Baghdadi is because Trump failed to disclose information about the raid to the House Intelligence Committee beforehand. Trump alleges the reason he did not inform the committee about the raid is due to his mistrust of the committee’s chairman, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.
