House Democratic leaders are walking back a planned vote Thursday that would officially endorse impeachment proceedings and say that the resolution would merely address the process of holding public hearings on the matter.
“This is not an impeachment resolution,” House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told reporters Tuesday morning. “I don’t know what an impeachment resolution is.”
(Snip)Hoyer said the resolution “addresses moving from the investigatory phase to the hearing phase” of the impeachment proceedings, entering the public phase.
Hoyer, who controls the floor schedule, would not fully commit to holding the vote on Thursday.
“We are going to have to consider whether or not it is ready to go on Thursday,”

The polling data for swing districts must REALLY suck for Dems who want impeachment. Otherwise, they'd be all over this like a cheap suit.

Gee, I had Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm in the "When will the RATS cancel or postpone the vote" pool! Whadda I win?
My suspicion is that Nasty Nancy, Steny Stooge, Shifty Schiff, Nadler the Hutt, and the rest of the Democrat gang of thieves are NEVER going to take their Star-Chamber Kangaroo Court "impeachment inquiry" to a comittee or house vote. They're using it to do political research and mischief using the taxpayer's dime instead of their own campaign loot. There's no upside for them to take this to a floor vote and possibly lose, or open up the proceedings to show the sham they really are, or even if they move to the Senate for a Show Trial, to be slapped silly once their plot is uncovered for all to see. All those options spell big losses for Democrats from dog catcher to Senator and the White House, so they're happy to continue to leak their phony stories to their media whores.

Pelosi and her House minions continue to demonstrate their incompetence. They are so motivated by political hatred of Trump that they cannot shoot straight.
Fairness, precedent, will of the people be damned, Pelosi is bound and determined to do whatever she can to harass Trump and deny him the ability to do his job.
The behavior of House Democrats is despicable.

It seems simple.. They don't have the votes. Hoyer, being Whip, knows the votes aren't there.

If I thought I could trust alleged republicans I'd suggest a dirty trick, pledge support for an impeachment vote; embolden the rebels to have the vote and pull the rug out from under them.

First it was vociferous demands that the 'whistleblower' be 'allowed' to testify openly. Then maybe he/she can do it hidden and voice altered. Then sudden discovery that the whistleblower was perhaps not needed. After evidence being in 'plain sight' the talk of a crime not being required for impeachment. And so on

Well don’t the dems have to give their names to vote? Aren’t they worried their constituents will see this and not vote for them? They are terrified to lose the House but they are digging their own graves.

“I don’t know what an impeachment resolution is,” says Hoyer, who's been in the House for 39 years. Apparently, he wasn't paying attention when the Republicans passed an impeachment resolution 25 years ago that gave the Democrats wide powers to subpoena and question witnesses in televised hearings and granted Clinton the full due process rights enjoyed by every criminal defendant in this justice-loving nation.

Sounds like someone is afraid that the resolution might not pass.

They don't have the votes and they don't want to look silly. They have already failed on point number 2. I'm guessing that Pelosi isn't sleeping well lately.

After all this time it’s it is not an impeachment resolution - so what do we call it - a political vendetta? Not to mention it’s a waste of time and waste of money!

Old song: “First you say you do, and then you don’t…you’re undecided now, so what’re you going to do?” Steny and Nancy do not dance well together. Tripping over each other’s feet.
