When it comes to hit jobs, the 10,000-word Vanity Fair spread on Susie Wiles is a classic of the genre.
Chris Whipple, a veteran journalist, producer and author with a career spanning the constellation of left-wing media — CBS’s “60 Minutes,” ABC, MSNBC, CNN, NPR, Politico, The Daily Beast, The New York Times, The Washington Post — has craftily framed the president’s chief of staff in a narrative of typical Trump-derangement fantasies.
The wonder is that she let him do it.
And there’s no doubt she did.
Washington journalism veteran Mark Halperin on his 2WAY podcast says Wiles may have thought the 11 interviews Whipple said she did this year were off the record.

I'm sure everyone here could have told Ms. Wiles this interview was a STUPID idea. Did she REALLY think that Vanity Fair was going to present her interview accurately and fairly?
I don't know what her motivation was for doing it, but the decision to do it--not the interview itself--certainly makes her look like an idiot.

You need to be smart enough to turn down those types of interviews. They make people like Kamala and Michelle look good but expect the opposite if you are not a Leftist.

NO member of the Trump administration should EVER talk one-on-one with ANY member if the press. There should always be someone else present. They should NEVER talk on the telephone to any member of the press. Every mainstream newspaper and every liberal hack on tye staff of every magazine is the enemy.
Susie Wiles had a serious lapse in judgment. This can never happen again.

Of course it was. Wiles was very foolish and naive to even imagine that it was going to be anything but a hit piece. She should never have agreed.

I'll never understand why Republicans don't carry a tape recorder or their own cameras to these interviews. If the hack doesn't like it, too bad...see ya. They MUST know these liberal hacks are going to edit the poop out of them. Always have a back-up plan.

I'm sure conservative news outlets approached her for interviews and she declined - too busy, but she apparently found the time over eleven months to chat up a storm with the VF "journalist." I cannot believe she was that naive to start talking smack about the VP, etc to some journalist or anyone outside the WH/Oval Office orbit. I don't care if he promised that it was all off the record. If all conversations were off the record - why would he be wasting his time talking with you Susie?

Somewhere around the White House, there's gotta be a left over "Just Say No" poster from Nancy Reagan.
Pull it out and post it in the White House break room with a note reminding them about interviews with mainstream media.

Subpoena Vanity Fair for the entire, unedited copy of the interview. The BBC did the same thing, and they are getting sued for billions. Is Vanity Fair prepared to pay a fine like that? Lets find out.

Is Susie not aware that the left is trying to pick off Trump's staff and appointee's one by one? There have been hits and barbs on all of them. A story every day one of them is unhappy and leaving -- soon. Eleven interviews, and Susie did not take the time to read the transcripts of any of them, and think of how it might appear in the media? And as for the language choices, it is very unprofessional to get personal about people you have to work with every day. Disagree on policy, but everybody has flaws.

It wasn't just her....it seems the entire Top Staff gave interviews and posed for pictures...I cannot imagine they didn't know it would all be skewed ugly by "Vanity Fair", and cannot help but hope that they did so on purpose, keeping tapes and other proof in order to later expose the Skew.

The only thing STUPIDER for this Administration than doing this interview were the three appointees as Attorneys General. None of the Evil Three have done a damned thing for America! I wanna know who or what BOUGHT em?

Everyone has their blind spots. I hope she learns from this.
I suspect that ego was part of her decision to take the interview.

I’m hoping the White House had the wherewithal to tape this entire interview, as Trump has done to result in massive court judgements.
I’d like to think they got her woozy in a bar with a promise of, “Why yes, Suzy, of course this is all, ‘off the record,’ right now.” It takes a veritable “beast” of a person to control a tongue “loosened” by one-too-many cocktails. Stephen Miller, Sebastian Gorka, or Karoline Leavitt could have handled this interview far better than Suzy did, and probably walk away with a Vanity Fair “trophy head” slung on their belt, instead of the other way around.

I really question the judgement of this person. Wiles was behind the nomination of Pam Bondi for AG. There were red flags about Bondi going back to the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case. And yet there Bondi is now, dangerously out of her depth.
IMO, Wiles needs to go.

Honestly, and I do mean honestly, I'm shocked she fell for it and granted the interviews. It's like she and the rest of the Trump admin have ignored that last 50-60 years of journalism. Take for example, what they did to Newt Gingrich. Newt allowed Tom Brokaw's "fair journalism team" access to the campaign trail from inside the campaign -- riding on the campaign buses, inside perspective of events, etc. What was the result, a total HACK job. Completely biased and unfair. Remember the TIME Magazine cover picture of Newt when he "won" the Man of the Year title? Weird colorized background and he had a mean looking 5 O'Clock shadow? Connie Chung's interview with Newt's frail mother where she set her up to say what Newt thought of Hillary? And, that's just what they did to Newt...no replicate that across so many Republican officials. It always, ALWAYS, ends the same. They are not owed access because they are not fair players. Leavitt should have an MSM DO NOT ENTER sign on her door.
